Chapter 1572 - 1444: Auction (Part 2)
"One thousand one."
As soon as the words were spoken, a voice was immediately heard from below.
"One thousand one, any other cultivators want to bid higher?" The woman smiled innocuously, her red lips slightly parted.
"Two thousand... I’ll bid two thousand."
A gaunt man stared greedily at the woman in the hall as he spoke.
The woman on the stage saw the man’s expression and remained calm, as if she was used to such things.
"Is there anyone else who wants to raise the bid?" the woman asked softly.
In the box, Ye Guichen watched the scene and shook his head silently. The Ice Heart Pill was worth no more than a thousand spirit stones, yet the man was bewitched by the woman to raise the bid to two thousand, leaving Ye Guichen speechless.
The hall was silent.
"Alright, since no one is raising the bid, this Ice Heart Pill will go to this cultivator." The woman smiled as she spoke.
The man seemed to not expect to buy an Ice Heart Pill for two thousand spirit stones. When he came to his senses, he instantly regretted it. However, with so many people present, he had already lost the capital to continue competing and could only leave dejectedly.
After the Ice Heart Pill was auctioned off, four hulking men pushed a square iron cage onto the stage, the cage covered by a curtain. The four wheels creaked from time to time.
"Ladies and gentlemen, next up we have a creature for auction." The woman spoke in a playful tone.
The woman stepped forward and pulled open the curtain, revealing a hulking figure huddled in the iron cage, arms wrapped around its head, with scars all over its body.
"Barbarian? Is this a barbarian?" A voice of disbelief echoed from below.
"Isn’t the Barbarian Tribe always residing in the Barbarian Land, rarely venturing out? How did they capture one here?" The crowd exclaimed in surprise.
The barbarian on the auction stage seemed to hear the discussions around him, groggily opened his eyes, and looked confused at the scene before him. Abruptly, realizing he was in a cage, he became enraged and tried to tear the cage apart with his hands.
Ye Guichen also saw the barbarian in the cage. He hesitated about intervening, considering he was about to head to the Barbarian Land, and Sana was the Holy Daughter of the Barbarian Tribe. It wouldn’t be right to stand by and do nothing.
After weighing the pros and cons, Ye Guichen quickly made a decision. Perhaps this was a chance to establish rapport with the Barbarians, and it wouldn’t cost him much. Just moments ago, Ye Guichen had checked his storage ring, realizing he was indeed a wealthy young man, with spirit stones piled high, like a mountain.
So, Ye Guichen observed the situation on stage, ready to participate in the bidding.
"Buzz, buzz, buzz!"
The woman held a blood-red bell and shook it. The barbarian in the cage, upon hearing the sound, felt like his head was splitting, continuously beating his own head as if millions of needles were piercing his soul.
The woman, satisfied with the barbarian’s painful expression, slightly parted her lips: "Ladies and gentlemen, this barbarian was caught by our Spirit Treasure Pavilion after a herculean effort at the Barbarian Tribe’s border. Everyone knows that barbarians have bodies as tough as iron, and their blood holds unimaginable benefits for body cultivation. Moreover, there’s no need to worry about losing control."
The woman held up the bell and said, "This bell is called the Red Blood Bell. We have planted a blood curse in the barbarian. With this Red Blood Bell, it’s easy to control him."
"Alright, let’s start the bidding at ten thousand spirit stones!"
The crowd below fell silent at her words, pondering the implications. They knew the Barbarian Tribe always protected their own, and becoming a slave owner to one of their kind would surely bring the tribe’s wrath and relentless pursuit — a consequence not worth the risk!
Ye Guichen saw the troubled expressions of the people below and was delighted, thinking he might obtain it effortlessly.
Just as Ye Guichen was about to speak, a greedy voice called out from a box.
"Twenty thousand!"
"Someone actually dared to bid; is he not afraid of the Barbarian Tribe’s retribution?" All eyes turned toward the source of the voice below.
Even Ye Guichen’s train of thought was disrupted by the voice. He probed toward the box with his spirit, finding Gu Quan’an appearing relaxed and confident.
"As long as I obtain this barbarian’s blood, I can purify my own blood further. Then, perhaps a single punch could shatter a mountain, and who would care about the Barbarian Tribe then!" Gu Quan’an’s face lit up with anticipation.
"Thirty thousand!"
"Huh? Damn it, who dares to ruin my plans?" Gu Quan’an hadn’t expected someone to compete with him for the barbarian, and his face turned livid as he cursed.
Gu Quan’an gritted his teeth, squeezing out a cold voice from between them.
"Thirty-five thousand spirit stones."
After his words, Gu Quan’an forced a smile and said, "Brother, this barbarian is crucial to me. Please, be magnanimous. After all, we’ll all have to leave the Spirit Treasure Pavilion once the auction ends."
In the box, Ye Guichen heard Gu Quan’an’s veiled threat and found it amusing, responding calmly, "Forty thousand!"
Since the boxes were enclosed and not visible to each other, Gu Quan’an didn’t know it was Ye Guichen opposing him. Seeing that his words were completely ignored, fury surged in him, leaving his face tumultuous.
Next to him, Shen Qianjun admired Ye Guichen’s lavishness. The annual income of the City Lord Mansion was barely less than ten thousand spirit stones, yet Ye Guichen casually waved four thousand, affirming in Shen Qianjun’s mind Ye Guichen’s identity.
