Chapter 587 - 318: Weakening Ray
Raine’s expression was equally solemn, as he narrowed his eyes slightly, carefully scrutinizing the rapidly approaching Zergelos.
The opponent’s body had grown larger.
The aura was also stronger.
Hmm?
Suddenly!
Raine squinted his eyes while looking at the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ beside the enormous spherical body, spotting two humanoid figures garbed in tattered Urein Empire plate armor.
"Not good! They’re Advanced Undead Knights controlled by the Wandering Eye Tyrant!" Princess Dongni muttered, her face slightly changing.
Advanced Undead Knights?
Raine suddenly realized, remembering the earlier battle between the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ and the Urein Imperial Legion.
Clearly, after that battle ended, though the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ lost some subordinates, it also gained some new minions.
The two Advanced Undead Knights before him were evidently those converted after it slew the extraordinary strong persons of the Urein Empire.
It must be noted that as a mutated Wandering Eye Tyrant among the Eye Demons, it typically preferred to convert its subordinates into the undead.
From this perspective, the Wandering Eye Tyrant is quite similar to a Lich.
"I will go help." Elder Grenum stated hurriedly.
He lifted his heavy two-handed warhammer, about to march forward.
"Wait, Elder Grenum, if you advance now, once the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ considers you the primary target, a single eye beam could severely wound you."
Leonore, standing beside him, raised a hand to stop him.
"I believe Raine will have a solution."
It was not that Leonore did not worry about Raine, but during their previous combat discussions, Raine emphasized strongly that no one should use magic attacks or engage in battle at the start, allowing him to ensure the first move to attract Zergelos’ attention.
According to the tyrannical nature of the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’, once engaged in battle, it would not easily shift its focus unless a target was destroyed.
By then, it would be time for the melee combat power of the fearsome Dwarf Elders.
"But..."
Hearing Leonore’s words, Elder Grenum wanted to say something but upon thinking carefully, found it to be true.
Even if he moved forward to draw one Advanced Undead Knight away, should the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ notice and launch an eye beam attack, he lacked Raine’s extraordinary resistance to magic, risking being severely injured directly.
This could very likely result in insufficient combat power during the subsequent attack on the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’.
"Boom!"
With a heavy boot stepping on the ground, creating a basin-sized depression, Raine left a trail of afterimage as he dashed past Ogres and Giants, heading straight towards the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’.
Raine’s action naturally caught Zergelos’ attention and wrath.
It sensed some sort of provocation!
"Hiss!"
The massive eyeball shone with intense red light, and in the next moment, everyone’s scalps tingled, covered with goosebumps.
A gray-black light beam, as thick as an adult’s thigh, shot forward from the front of the enormous eyeball.
"To think it releases a Weakening Ray at the start!" Princess Dongni exclaimed!
The Weakening Ray, also known as the Life Energy Draining Ray, would extract the target’s life force upon hitting, feeding it back to the Wandering Eye Tyrant’s body.
This was amongst the most troublesome rays as discussed.
Normally, a standard Eye Demon would emit the following ten rays: charm, paralysis, fear, slow, weakness, telekinesis, hypnosis, petrification, disintegration, and death.
In this regard, the Adventurer’s Association and the records of major kingdoms have detailed documentation and analysis.
Among them, the top three most powerful rays are weakness, disintegration, and death, and apart from the disintegration ray, the weakness and death rays involve necrotic energy.
According to extensive battle records with Eye Demons, a standard Eye Demon typically does not open with the aforementioned three rays; rather, they often choose among the other seven, focusing more on effects than direct damage.
Yet, unexpectedly, this newly ascended Legendary Eye Demon Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’ began by releasing a Weakening Ray on Raine.
Its nature is fundamentally necrotic energy.
Compounded by Zergelos’ Wandering Eye Tyrant mutation and Legendary Level.
Facing its Weakening Ray, a combat professional of at least an extraordinary level stands almost no chance, having large portions of their life force drained instantly, drastically reducing combat power.
This is precisely what concerned the Mountain Dwarf Kingdom’s royal family.
Princess Dongni’s scepter trembled slightly, as if she wished to cast a spell, but recalled Raine’s pre-battle warning, suppressing her impulse, gazing tensely forward.
The gray-black ray flashed like lightning, immediately striking the charging Raine.
In a flash!
Raine’s entire body became enshrouded in gray-black energy.
Glimmering with vast patches of black and gray light, Raine’s expression showed no signs of pain, and his movement speed remained unaffected, continuing his charge forward.
Hmm?
Observing that Raine was completely unaffected, continuing his rush towards the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’.
"Truly unaffected!" Princess Dongni’s eyes widened, a look of awe on her face.
Previously, her tests of Raine only involved the Third Level Spell Fireball Technique.
But now, Raine faced the genuine Weakening Ray from the Wandering Eye Tyrant ’Zergelos’.
If one had to define it, considering the mutation and legendary bonuses, the power of this eye beam exceeds the Eighth Level Spell, slightly less than a Ninth Level Spell, making it equivalent to eight and a half rings.
