Chapter 622 - 334: Sending You Back into the Embrace of the Divine Country (2)

"Raine, upon our first encounter, you gave me...."

Suddenly!

"Thud! Thud!"

The ground was suddenly covered with several fist-sized crystal bombs, flickering on and off.

"It’s crystal bombs! Scatter quickly!"

Amidst the chaotic crowd, Raine keenly perceived a spatial fluctuation coming from behind. Just as he turned to look, a blue wave shot out from a bracelet, accompanied by the appearance of Gaoxi’s figure.

Swish!

The two disappeared from their original spots simultaneously.

"Mr. Raine!"

"Damn! It’s that legendary mage!"

...

While Raine was startled, the world around him seemed like an oil painting splashed with water, instantly becoming a blur but clearing up the next moment.

When Raine’s eyes regained clarity, he found himself in a quaint area resembling an ancient Roman arena. Surrounding him were rows of stone steps below a circle of white columns, where translucent shadows silently cheered like spectators of the contest.

He stood there, at the center of the field, face-to-face with the legendary mage Gaoxi, who wore a mysterious smile, just a short distance away.

"Is this....an independent space?"

Raine briefly perceived his surroundings, finding that, other than the unusually reinforced space, the manipulation of other energy particles was unhindered. In other words, most magic spells could be cast without issue.

Except for space magic spells, meaning even though he mastered Teleportation Spell, he likely couldn’t leave here within a certain time frame.

"Indeed, this is a small subplane where the duelist necklace resides." Apparently confident, Gaoxi was in no rush to attack, instead surveying Raine with interest as he explained.

"A divine artifact?"

"No, it’s an epic-level magic item with usage restrictions, and this is its last use. Initially, I planned to employ it against at least a legendary foe."

"So, should I feel honored?"

"Of course. To master a seven-level Teleportation Spell at such a young age goes beyond mere talent. You should be a divine favored, I suppose?"

Before Raine could respond, Gaoxi shrugged and laughed, "Unfortunately, this space also isolates divine beings from intervening, so divine power or projections can’t manifest here; your prayers are futile."

With a thought, Raine instantly adjusted his expression to convey fleeting terror before regaining composure.

"Mr. Gaoxi, this space’s reinforcement exceeds expectations, making the Seven-Level Teleportation Spell impossible, agreed, yet shouldn’t this mean you also can’t utilize your signature spell Dimensional Blade?"

"Correct, you’re perceptive. My Legendary Domain, being spatial magic, is restricted by the duelist space. But what of it?" Gaoxi crossed his arms, his smile intensified.

"No room for negotiation, Mr. Gaoxi?"

"Regrettably, in any other case, I might entertain discussions, but now, after eliminating you, I must make contact with the dragons to vanquish Brute Hammer the Second and his dwarf legion."

Hmm?

Upon hearing Gaoxi’s words, Raine instantly pondered.

The opponent intends to contact the dragons after killing him to strike the dwarf legion?

Immediately, a flash of insight surged through Raine’s mind.

If so... wouldn’t that mean....?

"Alright, enough chit-chat. How would you like to proceed?"

"Oh, wait, as a divine favored, I should say, returning you to the embrace of the divine country."

"Fire is rather painful, how about frost?"

Gaoxi’s face remained playful, his voice tinged with modulation.

Recognizing Gaoxi was about to act with no chance for additional information, Raine faintly smiled, saying, "Mr. Gaoxi, there’s a chance I might send you back to the embrace of the divine country instead."

"Hmm?"

Gaoxi showed puzzlement, why this young man remained so calm despite imminent death.

Just then, a swift whooshing sound marked Raine’s sudden disappearance, with Warhammer swinging directly at him, as fast as, if not faster than, Grobas.

This left Gaoxi with no time to ponder, instantly casting spells directed at Raine.

"Swamp Trap!"

"Slowdown Spell!"

"Weakness!"

Apart from Swamp Trap softening the ground, the other two spells Slowdown and Weakness metamorphosed into grey-black mists which hit Raine.

Yet, resembling a gentle breeze, Gaoxi was baffled to see the young man’s speed unaffected, continuing the charge.

What was happening?

Immunity?

Whoosh, in hesitation, Gaoxi had to utilize instant teleportation, evading Raine’s charge.

"Hmph! As expected of a divine favored, truly skilled. But I refuse to believe your underlying divinity grants you substantial favor."

Next, Gaoxi, slightly flustered, proceeded to cast spells continuously and quickly changed spell types post-casting.

"Fireball Technique!"

"Snow Rainstorm!"

"Lightning Bolt!"

...

Though not high-level, mostly Third or Fourth Level, their instantaneous casting enabled Gaoxi to emit seven or eight spells at Raine like a rapid-fire machine gun in mere seconds.

"What!"

While casting, Gaoxi’s eyes widened in disbelief staring at Raine.

He had just executed spells across all elements, yet the young man before him seemed unaffected as if a divine abomination.

"Are you a saint? Immune to all magic below Fifth Level?"

Gaoxi naturally refused to accept Raine’s constitution rivaling divine abominations immune to all magic; instead, believing Raine was blessed by a divine being, sparing him from low-level magic damage.

Given prior instances on Valzeg Continent proven this possible.

This incited Gaoxi to employ spells of the Seventh Level.

"Solar Ray!"

"Death Finger!"

...

The high-tier spells performed a tad better than former ones, but only marginally.

Moreover, not due to their effectiveness, rather their power’s force shook Raine aside.

This necessitated Gaoxi’s periodic use of instant teleportation to dodge.

Thus, the battle proved somewhat comical, Raine pursued Gaoxi while Gaoxi relentlessly cast spells needing to flee using instant teleportation.

Raine didn’t cast spells, instead relying on near-absolute magic resistance coupled with solid melee attacks.

This act naturally included intentional misdirection.

Raine awaited an opportunity.

Fully aware that overly strong combat power, like eye-ray casting, could prompt Gaoxi to halt the small duelist subplane.

Should Gaoxi exit, attempting to kill a mage proficient in spatial magic outside seemed virtually impossible for him currently.

Mages versed in spatial magic prove the most elusive, possessing numerous escape methods.

Suddenly, right when Gaoxi aimed to use instant teleportation again, a purple field expanded from the young man covering over a hundred meters.

Instant teleportation suddenly failed!

"Anti-Magic Field??"

"Damn! How is this possible!"

Gaoxi’s eyes widened, stunned at Raine, unable to comprehend.

Without divine power assistance, an Anti-Magic Field could still be manifested??

Raine silently wielded the Warhammer that gleamed with tricolored light, slicing through the air.

"Boom!"

Though legendary mages lack the physical traits of legendary combat professionals, instinctively, Gaoxi attempted blocking the lethal blow with his white crystal staff.

Yet the Warhammer abruptly sped up, bypassing the block, hurling Gaoxi back over ten meters with considerable force, crashing him heavily onto the ground.

And as Gaoxi lifted his head in disbelief, he saw a brilliant silver object vibrating with high frequency, growing larger rapidly before him!

"Boom!"

His body convulsed once before dropping to the ground, headless.

With a snap, Raine grasped the returning Counterattacker, his mind flooded with insights about Elemental Strike.

"Crack!"

Along with the subtle sound of breaking, Raine turned toward the noise.

He saw the sapphire bracelet that had adorned Gaoxi’s wrist shatter into bits.
