Chapter 539 - 289: Nightmare Blade
Though it was daytime, for Joraqi, an experienced fighter and a mid-tier Transcendent, entering a castle was as easy as pie.
Even if the castle was heavily guarded and the walls were steep and hard to climb.
As a blurred and extraordinarily swift shadow flashed past the backs of two guards, Joraqi easily slipped through the barely open castle gate and entered its interior.
After a few simple turns, he stopped, beginning to assess the overall structure of the castle and the distribution of its defense forces.
At this moment, Joraqi was positioned right behind a stone pillar in the shadows of a corridor on the first floor, while in front of him lay the castle’s vast central square, spanning over a thousand square meters.
’Let’s start from the first floor.’ Not discovering any target that warranted his caution, Joraqi felt at ease.
Just as he was about to search floor by floor, suddenly, his narrow eyes slightly narrowed, seeing a squadron of Griffins rapidly descending from the sky onto the castle’s Griffin Platform.
"Huh? Are these all Mages?"
"Judging by their attire, they all seem to be Fire Casters. This must be the Crete Team." Looking at those red Mage Robes, Joraqi recalled the information he had read earlier.
The Crete Team had recently risen to fame; even he had heard tales of how the five of them together were as powerful as a Transcendent.
"Their sudden return indicates there might truly be a chance that the Eldest Princess of the Soladin Kingdom is in this castle?"
A few minutes later.
Joraqi returned to his starting point, frowning in thought.
He had just made a round, and considering his speed, it didn’t take long to search from the first to the third floor, yet he was sure he hadn’t found any trace of the Eldest Princess.
There were only two possibilities.
Either she really isn’t in the castle, perhaps elsewhere.
Or she is well-hidden, being a High-tier Mage, it’s highly possible she used some Sort of Array to conceal herself.
"If that’s the case, then it’s a bit troublesome."
But suddenly, Joraqi’s narrow eyes lit up!
He had thought of a way.
"It’s okay, I can ambush one of the Crete Team’s Fire Casters to create chaos."
"If the target doesn’t come out on their own, then I’ll kill another one. If they’re here, they likely won’t let such a thing happen."
Thinking this, Joraqi’s cold face couldn’t help but reveal a hint of a smile.
Half a minute later.
"Enemy attack!!"
"Lord Kaelden is injured!"
Suddenly, a high-pitched exclamation sounded along the corridor on the second floor of the castle, followed quickly by the dense sound of Steel Boots on the ground.
Evidently, the surrounding guards had already been alarmed.
At this moment, Raine, Henry, and Viscount Olsen, who had just come from the basement to the castle square, all changed their expressions.
Raine, reacting quickly, cast a Flying Spell and directly flew up to the second floor from the open square.
Before him was a familiar sight of one of the Fire Mages from Crete Team, eyes wide open, clutching desperately at a visible slash on his throat, a pool of blood darkened with traces of black lining, staining the already red Mage Robe a shocking, glaring shade.
The individual had already fallen into a pool of blood!
"Kaelden!"
"You must hang on, Kaelden!!"
Dylan Crete, holding the Fire Caster named Kaelden, couldn’t help but have tears in his eyes.
Meanwhile, Sulfur Vine, who had also arrived, immediately began chanting spells, trying to save him.
But Raine knew, judging by the black lines in the wound’s blood, it was clearly an extremely potent poison, even he couldn’t save him.
As expected, after several attempts, a pale Sulfur Vine shook her head.
"Did anyone see the attack?"
"Lord Raine, someone suddenly attacked from behind Lord Kaelden. We just saw a gray shadow flash, and then Lord Kaelden collapsed in the pool of blood, all in the blink of an eye!"
"In the blink of an eye? It must be a Wanderer-class Classes, and an extraordinary-level Wanderer at that!" Laisa, concentrating in thought, commented.
As a Wanderer herself, and having previously worked in the assassin organization ’Farad Manor’, Laisa knew well how terrifying the ability of a Wanderer who could kill a Level 8 Professional Caster instantaneously was.
At least, a Wanderer below Transcendent level was almost impossible to achieve this feat.
For a Classes Level 5 Mage, they generally always maintained a Mana Shield, the ability to break it with one strike is remarkable...
"Quick! Gather everyone here!"
Suddenly, Raine seemed to realize something, promptly addressing Dylan Crete.
"Raine, do you think there will be another attack?"
"No good. I’ll reinforce the basement’s defenses!" At this moment, Henry urgently suggested beside them.
Just a while ago, the three of them came back first because their aunt, Leonore, despite recovering from her injuries, still needed some time to meditate and adjust her breathing.
"No, don’t go!" Raine pulled Henry back, shaking his head.
Henry, being extremely intelligent, saw Raine’s unusual action and immediately had an insight flash in his mind.
"Raine, you’re suggesting their real aim might be..."
"Yes." Raine nodded solemnly.
Someone capable of infiltrating the heavily guarded Olsen Clan Castle and suddenly rising to kill a Level 8 Professional Fire Caster, is presumably a High Tier Wanderer.
Yet the assailant didn’t target Viscount Olsen, the high-ranking Governor of Dorne City, nor did he target Count Henry, but chose instead to kill a Fire Mage from the Crete Team in the corridor, in full view, such behavior is unusual.
