Chapter 54: Divine Intervention Has Been Triggered
"... Skills: Weapon Infusion. Reforge."
After bringing the Alchemist Sub-Class to the maximum Level of 25, Aurelius turned back to this prompt.
Just like Main Classes, Sub-Classes could also advance in Rank. The only difference was that an Awakener did not need to perform an Advancement Ritual to upgrade them.
As long as they reached Level 20, the Sub-Class would automatically advance.
Advancing the Alchemist Sub-Class rewarded him with two new skills.
Although worse than what he had obtained from the Arcanist Class, Aurelius was not too disappointed.
He found it natural. Arcanist was a Mythical Main Class, after all.
On the other hand, although Alchemists were rare, it was not a particularly precious Sub-Class.
Aurelius soon focused on the two skills, ready to learn more about them.
Lines of text emerged.
...
[Weapon Infusion Lv. 1: The user can temporarily infuse their weapon with Mana, increasing its sharpness, durability, and overall destructive power. The exact enhancement scales with the user’s proficiency.
...
[Reforge Lv. 1: The user can repair damaged equipment and Relics by consuming their Mana. There is a small chance of the Relic upgrading during the reforging.]
...
Compared to Arcane Insight and Arcane Deconstruction, these two skills were far less impressive. Their utility was noticeably lower.
But for an ordinary Rank 2 Awakener, they were enough to bring their power to the next level.
Having no high expectations from the start, Aurelius was satisfied.
Especially upon seeing Weapon Infusion, an interesting possibility surfaced in his mind, and his eyes briefly focused on a token within the System Inventory.
He didn’t rush to put this idea into action, though.
He could always wait for later.
Sensing that his Spirit had already recovered by half, Aurelius summoned the Player Panel, this time focusing on the skills column.
[Abilities: Synthesis Lv. 2, Awakener’s Physique Lv. 4, Transmutation Lv. 5, Fireball Lv. 2, Radiant Lance Lv. 1, Solar Manifestation Lv. 1, Arcane Insight Lv. 1, Arcane Deconstruction Lv. 1, Weapon Infusion Lv. 1, Reforge Lv. 1]
Unknowingly, Aurelius had gathered a large number of skills. Some from his Classes, others obtained through rewards, and some resulting from Synthesis.
Despite the large options, however, he didn’t face any trouble choosing where to invest his Skill Points.
He had already decided.
With a thought, the Awakener’s Physique was upgraded to Level 5, consuming 4 Skill Points.
In return, the stats it provided increased dramatically.
[Effects: Strength +18, Vitality +18, Agility +17]
A warm current coursed through Aurelius’ body, spreading everywhere.
Unlike the last upgrade, when it had disappeared in an instant, the current now lasted for several seconds.
Even so, it ultimately vanished.
’I had previously guessed that my body would undergo a qualitative change when Awakener’s Physique reaches a certain level.’
’Now, it seems that my guess back then had been true.’
The feeling had only become stronger. He had a hunch that in just a couple more upgrades, that transformation would really occur.
But looking at his remaining 12 Skill Points, Aurelius shook his head, deciding against gambling on it.
He had already made a plan for how to use these points. His decision remained the same.
Focusing on the (+) buttons, he upgraded three skills.
Solar Manifestation. Radiant Lance. Arcane Insight.
He was planning to bring them all to Level 3, significantly enhancing their power.
Yet compared to the obvious transformation caused by the Awakener’s Physique, the improvement of these skills felt somewhat underwhelming.
At least until...
[Solar Manifestation has reached Level 2.]
[Solar Manifestation has reached Level 3.]
"Solar Manifestation has triggered a Divine Intervention!"
"Solar Manifestation is undergoing an evolution..."
"Ding! Evolution complete! A new Manifestation has been unlocked!"
Aurelius felt a transformation occur within his body.
He seemed to have gained a brand-new ability, but it was unlike any skill he had obtained before.
As he looked at the prompt, he came to understand why that was.
Divine Intervention!
This Talent, which had appeared due to him absorbing the Lost Sun’s Divinity, had actually been triggered.
A new Manifestation, or rather form, had appeared for Solar Manifestation.
When Aurelius closed his eyes and examined himself more deeply, he quickly discovered what that Manifestation was.
’This...?’
His eyes widened. A trace of excitement burst within his heart.
He had never expected that the mutation would result in this.
The new Manifestation was both extremely useful to him while at the same time fulfilling one of humanity’s oldest dreams.
Aurelius had the urge to activate it. But upon seeing the dark room and the stone tiles around him, he hastily stopped in his tracks.
He forcefully calmed himself down.
Turning back to the Player Panel, he continued spending his Skill Points.
Inwardly, he couldn’t help but feel hopeful.
Would Divine Intervention trigger again?
If so, what mutation would occur this time?
Unfortunately, Aurelius’ dreams were met with reality.
Even until Arcane Insight reached Level 3, this Talent had not been triggered.
Four Skill Points remained, enough to gamble a few more times on another skill.
However, Aurelius restrained himself. He knew better than anyone what the final fate of all gamblers would be.
His experience with gacha games was still fresh in his mind.
It was best to save these Skill Points, only using them when necessary.
Several minutes passed until Aurelius fully familiarized himself with the many upgrades.
His mind felt somewhat heavy by the end, as though a large amount of information had been forcefully stuffed in it.
Had it not been for his high Intelligence, it was very likely he would have fallen asleep.
’Thankfully, I only need to spend some time to recover my mental power...’
Shaking his head, Aurelius hid the bag of materials and vials in a secret compartment under a stone tile.
Then, after confirming that no evidence had been left behind, he opened the door and walked out.
Several hours had passed since his return to the mansion.
By now, the sun had already set, and the silver moon shone brightly in the dark sky.
Silence shrouded the city. Most residents were fast asleep.
The people in the Sol estate were the same.
But rather than returning to his room, Aurelius looked at the moon and smiled faintly.
The next moment, golden flames burst out of his body. Shining with the brilliance of the morning sun, they gathered behind his back, weaving into a pair of magnificent wings made of Sacred Flames.
A large pushing force was created as they moved.
Aurelius nearly stumbled to the ground due to the force.
After several awkward attempts, he succeeded in fixing his posture.
His mind stirred. The wings behind his back flapped, creating a powerful gust of wind.
This time, Aurelius had been prepared and didn’t lose his footing.
Instead, his body began to float.
With another flap, he soared into the sky. Soon, he was soaring high above the city.
Soaring into the sky filled Aurelius with excitement. It seemed that only now had he experienced the full power of Awakeners.
However, as his gaze inadvertently drifted toward the blurry city below, he suddenly came to his senses. His smile froze.
How was he supposed to come down from here?
