Chapter 202: The Next Step
The two vehicles started moving again, following the route Cindy had found. After driving for several more minutes, they eventually left the main road and entered a quieter area surrounded by trees.
The resort soon appeared ahead of them.
It was a fairly large countryside resort with several buildings spread across the property, along with a wide parking lot and a fence surrounding most of the grounds. It looked like it had been abandoned in a hurry, but there were no signs of infected nearby.
They parked the vehicles outside before carefully checking the entire property. They checked every room, hallway, bathroom, and storage area, then checked the surrounding grounds to make sure nothing was hiding nearby.
Only after they were certain the resort was clear did they secure the doors and windows.
The moment everything was locked down, everyone finally relaxed.
Jaxon opened his Storage Space and began taking out food, bottled water, fresh clothes, and other supplies. Everyone quickly changed out of their blood-stained clothes and took turns cleaning themselves up.
Afterward, they gathered together for a proper meal.
The room was unusually quiet as everyone ate. Some were too tired to talk, while others simply enjoyed the small moment of peace.
Once everyone had finished eating, Jaxon looked around at the group. "Get some rest for now. It’s been a long night for all of us."
Several of them immediately nodded and began settling down.
"What about you?" Isabel asked. "Aren’t you going to sleep?"
"I’ll take the first watch."
"I’ll join you." Thomas’s sudden response made Jaxon look at him.
"Thanks," Jaxon said with a nod. "Then we’ll rotate. You can sleep first, and I’ll wake you when it’s time to switch."
Thomas nodded before finally heading toward one of the rooms.
Both Natasha and Na-rin looked at Jaxon as if they wanted to say something. They exchanged a brief glance, but Jaxon noticed it and simply smiled.
"Get some rest first. We can talk later."
Na-rin hesitated for a moment before giving him a small nod. Natasha, however, still looked like she wanted to say something, but after seeing Jaxon’s expression, she eventually sighed and followed the others.
Just as they were about to leave, Jaxon suddenly felt someone tugging at his clothes.
He looked down, and Elaine was standing beside him, looking up with a slightly hesitant expression.
"Jaxon..." she began quietly.
Before she could say anything else, Natasha suddenly glanced back. "Ehem."
Elaine immediately pouted. "I wasn’t going to say anything."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Sure you weren’t."
"I wasn’t!" Elaine gave Natasha an annoyed look before finally turning away.
She quickly followed the others toward the bedrooms, leaving Jaxon standing there with an amused smile.
He shook his head and looked around the quiet resort.
Everyone had finally gone to rest.
Jaxon walked through the building for a while until he found an empty room with a hammock hanging in the corner. He checked it briefly before pulling it into a more comfortable position.
But before closing his eyes, Jaxon decided to check how much he had gained from the battle.

’My stats have grown a lot.’
Compared to when he had first received the system, the difference was almost ridiculous.
’I thought I’d get another skill after passing Level 30. Still nothing?’
Jaxon frowned slightly before his eyes settled on his Intelligence stat.
He had 13 Stat Points left, and after a moment of consideration, he decided to put all of them into Intelligence.
(Intelligence +13)
(Intelligence: 39.84
(Stat Points: 0)
He finally understood how Intelligence stat worked.
At first, he had assumed that increasing Intelligence would simply make him smarter. But after experiencing its effects several times, he realized it was much more than that.
His senses had become sharper, his thoughts were clearer, and he could process what was happening around him faster than before.
’But even after all this growth, I still can’t do anything against that colossal infected.’
The thought made his expression turn serious.
That creature had been far beyond anything he had encountered before. His increased stats, upgraded weapons, and improved skills had all been useful against ordinary infected, but none of them were enough to deal with something like that.
’And if something like that exists... there might be even worse infected out there.’ Jaxon looked toward the window, his eyes narrowing.
’If I want to keep surviving, I can’t rely on my stats alone.’
His gaze eventually dropped to his remaining coins.
(Coins: 17,521)
’At least I have plenty of coins now.’
A faint smile appeared on his face.
’Let’s see what I can do with them.’
Jaxon was about to get up from the hammock when he heard footsteps approaching.
He turned toward the doorway. Natasha and Na-rin stood there, both looking at him.
"You’re both still awake? I thought I told you to rest."
"Jaxon." Natasha’s firm tone made it clear she wasn’t here to talk about sleep.
Jaxon sighed and looked at the two of them. "Fine. Come sit."
Natasha and Na-rin sat beside him, but neither spoke right away. They exchanged a brief glance before Natasha finally turned toward him.
"You’re planning to take them in, aren’t you?"
"Take who in?"
"The others," Na-rin said quietly. "You showed them too much today. Your Storage Space, your weapons, and what you’re capable of. I don’t think you did all of that without a reason."
Jaxon couldn’t help but chuckle. "You two really do look alike when you’re this serious."
