Dorian frowned. If neither the Demon Generals nor the Twilight Order Generals had taken it... then where had the heart gone?

His curiosity deepened as he asked, "Then where did the heart disappear to?"

"Sigh... no one knows for certain," Nixia continued. "The only information I managed to gather is that there was a third-party interference in the battle. They called him the Slaughter Monarch.

Even though he was only a Grandmaster, he possessed strange powers that allowed him to turn the enemies he killed into an army of undead. It was similar to necromancy, but far more powerful than any ordinary necromancer."

She paused for a moment.

"Despite the great help he provided to the human army... he was a half-demon. In the end, he was killed by General Albert."

The moment those words left Nixia’s mouth, both Rieka and Asia felt their hearts clench tightly. The Slaughter Monarch she was talking about was none other than their husband, Nova.

And now she was saying he had been killed — even after everything he had done to help the human side.

They refused to believe it. He had to be alive.

Asia quickly reached over and firmly squeezed Rieka’s hand, silently telling her to stay calm and keep believing in their husband. They could not afford to let anyone know that Nova was the Slaughter Monarch.

Dorian raised his eyebrows in clear displeasure.

"Hmph! That bastard Albert is as ruthless as ever. The man helped them, and he still killed him just because he was half-demon? What a joke."

His expression then turned serious as he looked at the two young women.

"Did you manage to find anything about their husband, Nova?"

Nixia let out a heavy sigh and shook her head.

"No..." She turned toward Rieka and Asia, her voice softening. "I’m truly sorry. You should prepare yourselves for the worst. Your husband Nova was only a Grandmaster.

Surviving a battle of that scale one that involved Emperor Realm powerhouses — would have been nearly impossible."

Rieka and Asia’s faces grew even heavier with sadness. They simply nodded for now.

Asia spoke first, her voice quiet but polite. "Thank you for doing so much for us."

Nixia offered them a gentle smile, though a trace of guilt lingered on her beautiful face. She understood better than most what it felt like to lose loved ones.

She had lost her entire family when she was young, and it was Dorian who had supported her ever since. They had grown up as best friends, and she cared for him deeply.

She couldn’t even imagine what she would do if something ever happened to Dorian. Because of that, she could truly understand the pain these two young women were going through.

Dorian didn’t know what else to say. In the end, he could only sigh. Some things were simply beyond human control, and he didn’t have the strength to change the outcome of such a large-scale conflict.

Asia turned to him and said, "Uncle... we’ll head to my family’s mansion now."

As a Duke, Theodore owned a luxurious mansion in Vaunis, not far from the Frosthall hunters guild.

Dorian nodded. "Where did your friend go?" Dorian referred to Bai chen, who was not with Asia and Rieka now.

"He went to investigate as well," Asia answered.

Dorian gave a small nod. "Nixia will escort you to the mansion. If you need anything, just use the communication stones. I’ve already saved my mana code in both of yours."

Asia nodded in thanks. A short while later, the three women left the office together.

...

After a short while, Rieka and Asia arrived at the mansion Aisa’s family owned in the capital.

It was a large, luxurious estate located in the central district of the city, its elegant white-and-blue patterned walls standing out among the surrounding buildings.

The moment they reached the entrance, a group of maids was already waiting to welcome them. Duke Theodore had clearly informed the household in advance of their arrival.

Asia turned to Nixia and said politely, "Thank you for escorting us here."

Nixia offered a gentle smile. "It’s not a big deal. Please contact me or Dorian if you need anything at all."

She gave both of them a warm, comforting look — especially Rieka. Seeing such a close and genuine relationship between a human and a beast-folk made Nixia feel a quiet sense of connection.

Because of that, it only made her feel worse for having to deliver such depressing news earlier.

Still, she believed it was better than letting them cling to false hope. What they were hoping for was nearly impossible.

It was already strange enough that the two of them had managed to escape the battlefield unharmed.

They had been careful not to reveal the full details, and neither Dorian nor Nixia had pressed them further, sensing that the young women were deliberately hiding something.

With one last soft smile, Nixia left.

Rieka and Asia then entered the mansion. The interior was just as luxurious as the one Asia had in Frostholme.

The maids quickly brought refreshments, but after a few moments Asia politely dismissed them, leaving only the two of them alone in the quiet hall.

Rieka looked at Asia and asked, her voice slightly shaky, "Why are you so calm after hearing that news? Do you really think darling is okay?"

Asia simply nodded. Instead of answering right away, she called out clearly,

"Deadborn, come out!"

She had almost forgotten about the Deadborns in the chaos, but after hearing Nixia mention the undead army, she suddenly remembered.

Nova would never have sent them alone without any protection. If the Deadborn still responded... it would mean he was still alive.

And she was right.

In the next second, a tall humanoid Deadborn appeared in front of them. Its body was formed of swirling black shadows laced with purple patterns.

Asia let out a long, shaky breath of pure relief. Rieka’s eyes widened as she instantly understood what Asia had been trying to confirm — and what the presence of this Deadborn truly meant.

She hurriedly stood up from the sofa and stepped in front of the figure.

"Your name is Gamma, right?"

The Deadborn shook its head.

"Then you’re Alpha!"

Alpha nodded once.

Both women already knew the names of Nova’s main Deadborns. Only Alpha and Gamma had humanoid forms, but Rieka had been so overwhelmed that she still needed the confirmation.

She quickly asked, "Did darling tell you to protect us?"

Alpha nodded again. Then came the most important question. Even though the Deadborn standing in front of them was already the strongest proof,

Rieka still needed to hear it clearly — she needed to remove the heavy weight that had been crushing her chest.

"Darling is alive... right?"

Both Asia and Rieka stared at Alpha with serious, hopeful expressions, waiting for the answer.

A second later, Alpha gave a firm nod.

A powerful wave of relief crashed over both women at once.

Rieka couldn’t hold back anymore. She threw her arms around Asia and hugged her tightly, tears of pure happiness streaming down her face.

"Yayyy!! Darling is okay... thank God!!" she cried out, her voice filled with joy as she clung to Asia.

Asia’s eyes also filled with tears. She hugged Rieka back just as tightly and whispered,

"Yes, Sister Rieka... Husband is alive."

Although Asia was still younger than Rieka, she had remained the calmer one even in the middle of such heavy grief.

She knew the odds of Nova’s survival had been nearly impossible, yet she forced herself to stay composed. It wasn’t only willpower that allowed her to do so.

Something in her personality had quietly changed after her bloodline awakening — the moment she consumed the blood essence of the Divine Ice Phoenix.

Rieka, on the other hand, had learned to control her emotions much better over the past three years of being with Nova.

But in moments like this, her feelings still became extremely sensitive, and Asia naturally stepped into the more mature role.

Both of them turned toward Alpha and asked at the same time,

"Do you know where darling is?"

Alpha slowly shook its head. It could sense that its Monarch was still alive through their connection, but it had no way of knowing his exact location.

Rieka let out a soft sigh of relief and said, "Well... it doesn’t matter. At least now we know he’s okay. He’ll come back to us soon."

Asia nodded in quiet agreement.
