My Stubborn Soul Card Follower

Xinyuan Tanchun was numb.

Really numb.

She could tolerate the board she’d painstakingly built getting wiped by her opponent.

But at least give me some buildup for that, okay?

Like a face-down card that’s been sitting there forever, or a hand trap that’s clearly live but just never gets activated.

What the hell is this, just topdecking a board-wipe card out of nowhere?

You’re making my desperate combo from just now look ridiculously stupid!

Ugh... why do I feel like I’ve only complained about this inside my head before?

Alice’s sudden draw just punched straight through Xinyuan Tanchun’s mental defenses.

"Um..." Alice could tell Xinyuan Tanchun seemed a bit down. She blinked, hesitating.

Xinyuan Tanchun gave up on life and said, "Whatever effect you’ve got, just get on with it."

"Okay! Then I’ll activate the effect, Tanchun!" Alice showed a lively smile, then raised her hand and said, "When [Fallen Magical Girl·Nakazawa Kyu] appears, her on-summon effect must activate. If your field has [Nakazawa February], give that Follower’s control to the opponent."

Hearing that effect, Xinyuan Tanchun paused for a moment, then looked more closely, and finally noticed that Alice’s Nakazawa February on the field looked incredibly similar to her own Nakazawa Kyu.

"They’re freaking sisters?!" Xinyuan Tanchun almost coughed blood.

"Yup." Alice blinked and said, "February’s little sister got jealous of her amazing big sis, so she was bewitched by an evil Demon Race officer and turned into a Fallen Magical Girl. I helped February get her sister back."

"...Why am I suddenly picturing scenes from some kids’ cartoon?" Xinyuan Tanchun couldn’t help complaining, "This is straight-up kids’ cartoon plot!"

Alice nodded hard, fully agreeing: "Right? Right? I said the exact same thing back then."

As she spoke, Alice had already taken back control of Nakazawa Kyu, then continued, "According to Nakazawa Kyu’s effect, when her controller changes, her effect must activate. I can target one Follower on your field and gain control of it."

"Still busted!" Xinyuan Tanchun’s eyes suddenly went wide, scaring Alice, who was about to steal her Follower.

"Um... Is this... not allowed to be busted?" Alice asked carefully.

I’m the senior. I’m the senior.

Xinyuan Tanchun took two deep breaths, frantically brainwashing herself in her head, then finally ground her teeth and said, "Take it! Take it!"

"Thanks, Tanchun!" Alice said, thrilled.

Seeing this girl’s expression, Xinyuan Tanchun’s teeth were about to shatter from clenching.

First time I’ve ever seen someone steal another person’s Follower and then turn around and say thanks.

Xinyuan Tanchun felt she absolutely had to change the subject right now, or she was going to lose it.

"So... you just shouted stuff about family love and friendship or whatever, to wake this Nakazawa Kyu up?"

"Oh, no, not really. I just happened to be moonlighting as a Demon Race officer at the time, so I gave her a few days of the roughest work. She ended up crying and begging and running back into her big sister’s arms herself." Alice said casually.

Wait a second! That plot is seriously messed up!

Why is a Magical Girl’s mascot moonlighting as a Demon Race officer?!

What exactly are you even doing in that Soul Card World?!

"Hehe, Tanchun, I’m gonna attack now~!"

That draw Alice just made really was a god draw. After tributing away three of Xinyuan Tanchun’s Followers to remove them, then stealing [Vampire Prince·Teilind], she actually didn’t have much in hand left to extend.

After setting a Spell Card, Alice was ready to go straight into battle phase and launch a crazy attack on Xinyuan Tanchun, who had no Followers on the field and only three thousand Life Value.

"At the start of the opponent’s battle phase, I flip my set card!" Of course Xinyuan Tanchun wasn’t about to let Alice win that easily.

"It won’t work~!" Alice immediately said, "[Vampire Prince·Teilind]’s effect can negate one Spell Card effect per turn!"

As she spoke, Alice inexplicably added, "This is your card, you should know the effect."

Hearing Alice say that, Shen Sui also rubbed his forehead helplessly.

If this girl talks like this once she’s at a real tournament, she’s absolutely going to get beaten up.

Although, in this world, there doesn’t seem to be anyone who could actually beat her...

Hearing that muttered comment from Alice, Xinyuan Tanchun’s already-crumbling heart shattered even more.

"Then I’ll negate your negate!" As soon as Alice activated the Vampire Prince’s effect, Xinyuan Tanchun immediately flipped her last set card on the field. "I activate [Vampire Emblem]’s effect, negating your card’s effect, then I draw one card!"

The chain continued to resolve, and Xinyuan Tanchun successfully activated the first face-down she’d flipped.

[Blood Race Immortal Conference].

Pay half your Life Value to activate; skip the opponent’s battle phase.

With that Spell Card’s activation, Xinyuan Tanchun barely managed to survive Alice’s onslaught.

But the key problem still hadn’t been solved: how was she supposed to break Alice’s board?

Xinyuan Tanchun glanced at her hand.

Then at her graveyard.

No doubt about it: with all the resources she currently knew about, she had no way to quickly clear the field.

Which meant... she had to pin all her hopes on the next card!

Xinyuan Tanchun placed her hand on top of her deck.

Damn you, fate! You’ve already given Alice two god draws; it’s about time you let me have one too!
