Chapter 105: Final Battle Begins.
Old man Bo’s beast form raced across the snow, Hannah still attached to his back as she held on tightly while he pummeled through the Eidolons guarding one of the glowing blue scales. His massive body crashed through them without slowing down, sending several Eidolons tumbling through the snow as he charged straight towards the pillar.
His hammer swung down with enough force to shake the ground, smashing directly into the blue scale. The glowing surface cracked beneath the impact before completely shattering, sending fragments of blue energy flying through the air.
"There’s another one!" she shouted, pointing ahead.
Bo didn’t answer. He simply accelerated.
The remaining Eidolons noticed him and rushed forward to stop them, but the old man had already raised his hammer again. He swung it sideways, the massive weapon sweeping through the group and sending the Eidolons flying in different directions.
"Haha, there’s a big one up ahead!" Old man Bo said loudly.
Hannah actually couldn’t see it. For some reason, there was a fading tornado up ahead, its swirling snow completely blocking whatever was inside. She could barely make out the battlefield through the violent wind, but then a blue figure suddenly grew larger in the distance.
Hannah’s eyes widened.
Before she could stop Old man Bo, his massive body smashed straight into it.
The Divine Priest’s face caved in from the impact as his entire body was sent flying hundreds of meters away. He tore through the snow, kicking up a massive trail behind him before finally crashing down and sliding into the distance.
"No, that’s the wrong target," Hannah said, but her face suddenly froze.
"Uh..."
Andrea and Yuri were standing a short distance away. Yuri was covered in blood, her arms stained from the damage she had inflicted on herself, while the snow around them had been completely torn apart by the battle.
Hannah stared at the two women for a moment, it was obvious that a great battle had taken place here. And judging by Yuri’s condition and the destruction around them, they had clearly arrived just in time to miss it.
"Hi guys." Hannah waved from atop Old man Bo’s back.
Andrea and Yuri waved back. They had only been preparing to fight the Divine Priest again, but with Hannah and Old man Bo joining them, the weakened Divine Priest would surely die for good this time.
Andrea’s brows knitted together when the distant Divine Priest suddenly shot to his feet and bolted in the opposite direction. He didn’t even look back at them, his massive body disappearing through the snow as quickly as his weakened state allowed.
"Should we go after him?" Hannah asked after Old man Bo finally reached them.
Andrea shook her head when she noticed the blood dripping from Hannah’s abdomen. She was clearly injured, and there was no telling how much strength the Divine Priest still had left.
"Let’s kill off the rest of the Eidolons and regroup."
Hannah nodded, while Yuri glanced towards the direction the Divine Priest had escaped. She didn’t seem particularly concerned, but she also didn’t argue with Andrea’s decision.
Coincidentally, the artificial storm surrounding the battlefield began to dissipate. The violent winds slowed until they became little more than a cold breeze, and the thick wall of snow gradually thinned.
Then the battlefield finally revealed itself, the ground was covered in bodies.
Eidolons and humans were scattered across the snow in every direction, some buried beneath the frozen ground while others remained half-covered by the snow that had fallen throughout the battle. Broken weapons, shattered armor and discarded pieces of Eidolon flesh were spread across the battlefield, making it difficult to tell where one side ended and the other began.
Large patches of snow had been stained red, while enormous craters marked the places where the fighting had been most violent.
Several Eidolons still moved among the dead, limping badly as they desperately tried to reach their remaining comrades, while human soldiers fought back with whatever weapons they still had.
The battlefield was far from over.
The artificial storm had simply hidden the scale of the destruction from everyone outside it. Yuri stared across the battlefield, her expression remaining calm despite the sight before her.
"There are still quite a few of them."
Andrea nodded.
"Then let’s finish it."
Old Man Bo raised his massive hammer, while Hannah tightened her grip on his fur.
At that moment, a loud drumming sound reverberated through the frozen wasteland. The ground beneath their feet began to tremble with every heavy step, the sound growing louder and more consistent until it felt less like footsteps and more like an approaching war drum.
Everyone turned towards the source at the same time, the sight that emerged from the distance was simply terrifying. The main Eidolon army had finally arrived.
More than a thousand Eidolons marched across the frozen wasteland in perfect unison, their massive bodies advancing like an endless wall of white fur. Every step struck the ground with enough force to shake the snow beneath them, creating the thunderous drumming that had first caught their attention.
And behind the army came the massive weapon.
At least a hundred Eidolons were pushing it forward, their combined strength moving the enormous machine through the snow. Its colossal frame rose above the marching army, its runes glowing faintly as it advanced towards the battlefield.
The sight alone was enough to make the atmosphere change.
Then the army came to a stop.
For a moment, everything became strangely quiet. More than a thousand Eidolons stood across the frozen wasteland, their massive bodies completely still as the snow continued falling around them. Even the humans seemed to understand that something was about to happen.
Then the massive weapon began to move.
Its enormous frame slowly rose above the Eidolon army before turning towards them. The barrel pointed directly at the battlefield.
Andrea’s expression changed. She tightened her grip around her blade, her eyes fixed on the weapon.
There was simply nowhere to run.
Then the weapon began to hum.
Faint runes across its massive body started glowing one after another, the light growing brighter with every passing second.
