Hannah ran towards the Eidolons.

They barely had time to react before the enormous shield crashed into the first creature, crushing its chest and sending its body tumbling through the snow.

Another Eidolon swung a spiked club at her head, forcing her to duck beneath the attack before driving her shoulder into its stomach.

Her shield slammed into its legs, the Eidolon collapsed, but another was already behind it.

Hannah twisted around just in time to catch the next attack, she once more failed to increase the weight of her shield, the impact nearly broke her arms.

She staggered backwards, sliding across the blood-soaked snow as the Eidolon’s club remained pressed against her shield. Its strength was monstrous, forcing her entire body backwards despite her ability.

Hannah gritted her teeth and increased the weight of the shield.

The Eidolon suddenly lost its balance, taking advantage of her raw power, Hannah shoved forward.

The massive shield crushed the Eidolons skull against the ground.

A sharp pain tore through her side as an antler scraped across her armour, throwing her off balance. Hannah stumbled and fell to one knee, her shield dropping with her.

The Eidolon raised its club and brought it down,

Hannah could barely see through the blizzard, but she still evaded.

The club smashed into the snow where her head had been a moment earlier, spraying ice across her face. Hannah pushed herself up, but before she could regain her footing, a second Eidolon slammed into her from behind.

Her body flew forward, She crashed face-first into the snow. For a moment, she could only breathe in the cold frost.

The cold filled her mouth and nose as she desperately tried to push herself up. Her arms shook beneath her weight, and before she could rise, something stepped onto her back.

Hannah’s body was forced into the snow, her ribs groaned beneath her armour. She could hear the Eidolon breathing above her, its distorted growl vibrating through her body as it prepared to finish her.

Hannah’s fingers released the handle of her shield, she grabbed the Eidolon’s hoof and drastically increased its weight.

The Eidolons body instantly shook intensely as it felt as heavy as a boulder, it came tumbling down into the snow, and before it could even attempt to get up, Hannah twisted violently and swung the weapon downwards.

The sharpened edge tore through the creature’s waist,

Hannah scrambled away from the site as more Eidolons began to surround the location, but before she could run far. Something struck her shield from the side.

Hannah’s entire body spun.

Another Eidolon slammed into her before she could recover, knocking her several metres through the snow. Her shield slipped from her hands and fell to the ground.

Hannah was unwilling to stay down, she slapped the ground hard and shot to her feet, the Eidolon was already right before her, fist raised as it punched out. She caught its fist, then her dormant ability immediately activated, the Eidolon fell to its knees, its eyes expanding in pure horror.

She drove her hands straight into its gut and pulled out its stomach.

Before the other Eidolon could reach her, Hannah threw herself forward and grabbed the handle of her shield.

The shield’s weight amplified, just as she used it to shatter the Eidolons legs.

Hannah screamed as the impact travelled through her arms and shoulders. She could feel something tear inside her right arm, but she refused to release the weapon.

She swung madly.

The heavy shield curved and caught the Eidolon beneath its jaw and tore its head backwards. It later collapsed to the ground.

Hannah stumbled away, clutching her arm, she knew her ability was also a danger to herself, which was why she tends to be careful while using it.

While moving the shield, she would reduce its weight, but this time she was so focused on killing her opponent that she lifted the weight of her ability with her arm.

Her fingers were trembling because of it. She could barely feel her arm. Then she heard another roar.

More Eidolons had surrounded her, the exhaled cold mist from their nostrils as they rampaged through the human advance force.

Hannah let out a breath of cold air, she couldn’t wield her shield with her right arm anymore, so she moved it to her left.

She charged straight at the Eidolons.

The first one swung its spiked club the moment she came within range, but Hannah brought her shield across her body and caught the attack head-on. Sparks flew into the blizzard as the impact forced her to step sideways.

Instead of trying to overpower the creature, she used its momentum, twisting her body and letting the shield slide along the club before slamming its edge into the Eidolon’s jaw.

Its head snapped sideways.

Hannah was already moving before it could recover.

Another Eidolon lunged from her right, its antlers sweeping towards her chest. She ducked beneath them and drove the bottom edge of her shield into its leg. The creature stumbled, and Hannah spun with the movement, bringing the shield around in a wide arc that caught the first Eidolon across the ribs and sent it crashing into the snow.

The second Eidolon recovered faster than she expected.

Hannah stepped inside its reach.

The club passed behind her head as she drove her shield into its stomach, forcing the air from its lungs. Before it could retaliate, she shifted her grip and struck its knee from the side.

The leg buckled. Hannah immediately followed with another blow to its jaw, the Eidolon staggered backwards, and she pursued it.

Her shield collided with its chest, then the side of its head, each strike coming before the creature could properly recover from the previous one. She wasn’t giving it enough time to gather its strength or swing its weapon properly anymore. Every time it tried to attack, she was already somewhere else.

Hannah knew increasing the weight of her shield and armor could damage her body, but reducing their weight to that of a feather wouldn’t really lower her defensive capabilities.

A third Eidolon charged into the fight, Hannah turned just as its antlers swept towards her.

She lowered her shield.

The antlers struck the metal with a violent clang, and Hannah was pushed backwards, her boots tearing through the snow. She immediately twisted her shield sideways, allowing the Eidolon’s head to slide past her rather than meeting its full force.

Then she struck its hind leg, and the creature stumbled into the piling snow.

Hannah stepped forward and smashed the shield into its stomach. The Eidolon reeled before breathing its last.

Hannah turned back towards the second one just as it recovered enough to attack. She ducked under its club, struck its thigh, then its ribs, forcing it to retreat with every hit. When it tried to regain its balance and charge again, she stepped aside and slammed the sharpened edge of her shield into its gut.

The Eidolon collapsed.

Hannah didn’t stop moving.

She rushed the third creature before it could recover, driving her shield into its chest and forcing it backwards. It swung wildly, but Hannah kept moving around it, striking whenever an opening appeared.

The Eidolon was enraged, it spun and its fist struck her shield, it knocked her sideways, but instead of retreating, she used the force to spin with it. Her shield swept around and smashed into the side of its head, staggering the creature long enough for her to step forward and drive the weapon into its chest.

Hannah stood among the three fallen Eidolons, breathing heavily as snow continued to whip across her battered armour.

Hannah raised her shield, but her left arm barely responded anymore. An Eidolon suddenly crashed into her, forcing her backwards.

Before she could process what was happening, another came from the side, its fist slamming into her and sending a sharp pain through her already damaged arm.

An antler caught her armour from the back and dragged her sideways through the snow. Hannah twisted desperately as her shield slipped from her fingers and disappeared beneath the snow.

Hannah tried to reach for it, but an Eidolon’s hoof slammed down beside her hand. Before she could move, the creature’s head shot upwards, hurling her across the snow.

Her body crashed a shot distance away, pain coursing through every part of her body.

The Eidolons were already approaching.

Hannah’s vision blurred as she struggled to push herself up, but her arms refused to cooperate. Her damaged right arm hung uselessly beside her while her left hand trembled against the snow.

She looked towards her shield, it was several metres away. There was no way she could reach it in time.

When the Eidolons arrived, they didn’t kill her immediately, instead one of them stepped over her. Its shadow covered her body.

"Just do it already". She said spitefully.

The Eidolons face actually spread into a cruel smirk, but the next moment. Its eyes suddenly bulged and popped, followed by its jaw and soon half its face was gone.

The other Eidolons roared and turned around to face the enemy, but a massive hammer suddenly smashed into the side of one of their heads.

The impact was so violent that the creature’s entire head twisted sideways before the rest of its body could react. One of its eyes bulged from its socket, while its jaw shattered under the force, teeth and pieces of bone scattering through the snow as dark blood sprayed across Hannah’s armour.

The Eidolon’s body was thrown sideways like it weighed nothing, crashing into another creature and taking it down with it.

Hannah stared blankly as old man Bo roared wildly, his body was covered in fur, his face resembling that of a tiger.
