Chapter 686 - 406: Happiness Covers Pain, Laughter Fights the Void (Part 2)
"Alright, is there something you need?" he said, downing his drink in one go.
"May I know your name, sir?"
Little Black had no intention of hiding anything and spoke directly, "Abdullah Hassan, my real name. You can call me Hassan."
Xue Dili: "..."
He actually wanted to smack the translation module left by the Great Sage, feeling it might be malfunctioning and churning out random translations.
However, after testing for a while and finding no issues with the translation module, he reluctantly gave up. After nodding slightly, he asked, "Mr. Hassan... how can one use the Void Power while still controlling it?"
The ink-like Hassan across from him fell silent immediately.
Then, he looked at Xue Dili with an exceedingly strange expression.
It roughly conveyed, "If I had a way, I wouldn’t have ended up looking neither like a human nor a ghost now."
After they exchanged looks for a while, Xue Dili withdrew his gaze, realizing that this was not a problem Hassan could solve either.
"Is there any way to delay or control the corruption of the Void?" Xue Dili asked the second question.
This time, Hassan did not remain silent but said directly, "Happiness, or rather, maintaining a good mood. Using laughter to combat the void is what I, and all of us, have been doing."
At this moment, fireworks and brilliant lights erupted outside. Numerous naked people seemed to have just returned, arm-in-arm, playing pranks on each other, either secretly slipping drugs to one another or picking up exhausted companions, half-baked, still thinking of ways to mess with others.
They all seem very happy. In this world full of laughter and careless attitudes, who would think they are all patients contaminated by the cosmic forces of disaster known as the Void?
They laughed heartily, they sang loudly. A group of people took off their gold underwear to use as kindling, starting a bonfire party right in the plaza.
They kept pouring drinks for each other, all wondering how to get the other drunk, then quietly competing whose trick of scheming was more sophisticated.
Others couldn’t help but dance by the bonfire, wearing only golden shorts, indulging in unrestrained, joyful dance.
It seems that, for them, life’s just one party after another, and joy and delight are the pursuits of everyone here.
"Is this the way to fight the Void?" Xue Dili stared blankly outside.
"Yes, let the world be filled with smiles, stay happy, and you won’t think about self-destruction or let yourself be trapped in the void, unable to extricate yourself." Despite having no facial features, Xue Dili seemed to discover that Hassan was smiling, and it was even like the smile of a doctor.
"Nothing in the world is scary anymore, whether it’s Apostles, the Divine Tree, swarms, Demons, or even the Void, nothing is fearsome. Just smile, maybe you’ll find all the beauty in the world, then use that beauty to fill the void within."
"This is the way to deal with the Void," Hassan said, looking at the group of people with ugly dance moves by the bonfire, he laughed and said,
"The dance moves are lacking, far from mine, need more practice."
Xue Dili: "..."
He suddenly felt that the seemingly reliable guy in front of him might be the most lunatic among these people.
"Can the fruit of the Divine Tree bring relief?" Xue Dili continued to inquire.
"Yes," Hassan said directly but then turned, the swirling ink on his face firmly staring at Xue Dili, "But if any brothers or sisters dare to try such a method, I’ll personally kill them before I die."
"I am very strong, even you can think of me as one of the strongest in the cosmos, second only to the Mimic Venerable King."
Looking at the little black man and his words, Xue Dili inexplicably believed him, though he believed more in the ink-like Void corruption covering him.
A walking cosmic disaster, a place would suffer a cosmic catastrophe wherever he dies. Xue Dili truly believed in his words.
Xue Dili suddenly got an idea: could this senior deal with the Mist Council?
However, as soon as this idea came up, Xue Dili dismissed it. The biggest issue with the Mist Council was their extreme secrecy. After so many attempts, Xue Dili barely caught the tail of the Ninth Apostle, and it was Faust who caught Mephisto’s tail.
If they really knew the location of the Mist Council, they wouldn’t even need this Hassan to go there; they could just summon the Mimic Venerable King to block the entrance.
According to him, the Mimic Venerable King is likely stronger than the leader of the Mist Council.
"Are you interested in joining the Masked Ball? Perhaps you have a chance to become the leader here." Hassan turned his head, extending an olive branch to Xue Dili.
"Uh..." Xue Dili looked at this person and was speechless, saying, "Aren’t you doing well as the leader?"
"I may not hold on any longer. You should have felt it when you touched me just now; the Void Power on me has reached a critical state where it starts to escape, right?" Hassan calmly said.
Xue Dili felt startled; he might understand why this person was different from those masked people, full of laughter.
Because he might be truly corroded by the Void to the point where he couldn’t even laugh.
And Hassan did not hide: "I have now lost my emotions, lost my laughter, lost my desires, lost my sense of direction, and my sense of taste and smell. I am also beginning to become forgetful. I think my days are numbered."
