Chapter 763 - 438: The Identity of the Greek Divine King and the Tenth Apostle
Xue Dili looked at this corpse from some unknown cave diving area and thought that there were truly countless people in their world courting death.
This volcanic lake is probably the least suitable place for cave diving. It’s filled with sulfur and other high concentrations of sulfide gases, and the water temperature remains above 20 degrees Celsius all year round, getting even hotter further below.
Even without the mythological boost of being the Netherworld entrance in Greek Mythology, and the connection to the forbidden Abyss Tartarus, it’s also just a volcanic lake hot spring. The high concentration of sulfide gases makes one dizzy even if they linger at the entrance.
Perhaps this is why Greek Mythology regards it as the entrance to the Netherworld.
Even Mimic Venerable King couldn’t help but mock: "Your culture seems to especially admire this kind of reckless adventure spirit. These gases should be toxic to you, right? Yet here is the second corpse already."
He was mocking, and Xue Dili saw the second diver’s corpse floating effortlessly from inside the volcanic lake to outside the cave.
Xue Dili: "..."
There’s a second one?
Moreover, this second corpse seemed much older than the first one, as it was stripped of flesh, leaving behind grayish bones barely held together by the diving suit.
As Xue Dili silently mocked in his heart, a third cave diving corpse drifted past him. This time, the diving suit seemed to be from last century’s old equipment.
Then, the fourth, fifth...
The volcanic lake suddenly spat out many idiots, and both Xue Dili and Mimic Venerable King fell silent. They couldn’t understand why so many reckless folks would venture into this obviously toxic volcanic lake.
"Well, they do indeed have an adventurous spirit. By the way, we have a saying here, ’the farther you go, the deader you are’..." Xue Dili tried to salvage his people’s dignity.
Though the dead seemed to be mainly Europeans, once they left Earth, they were all fellow countrymen to Xue Dili, who could only try not to embarrass them in front of the extraterrestrial nobleman.
"Uh, your planet’s culture is quite unique. No wonder you don’t take your life seriously. There’s certainly a cultural factor involved..." Mimic Venerable King continued to mock.
In an instant, the air became extremely quiet.
Soon after, the two moved past this issue as five corpses in a row were spat out by the volcanic lake, making the underground lake feel like it was boiling.
The toxic gases in the air surged, forcing Xue Dili to use the Cursed Blood to create a filter in his respiratory tract to avoid these sulfides.
Just then, an unknown statue emerged from underwater in their view.
The statue seemed neither male nor female, more inclined toward female, with one hand stretched out, directly pointing at Xue Dili, holding some prop.
Xue Dili waded up to it, finding something indeed on the statue’s arm: a key resembling a lightning insignia.
Seeing this insignia, Xue Dili shuddered, as it was obviously related to Zeus. Even till now, Xue Dili had psychological shadows concerning Zeus, especially since he was in Greece at the very spot of Zeus’s downfall, feeling increasingly unease.
When he took off the relic of the lightning insignia, in an instant, the statue that had just emerged crumbled and dissolved into fragments and dust, merging into the volcanic lake, stirring the water to become extremely turbid.
"What is this..." Xue Dili looked at the lightning insignia mark in his hand, asking.
"The emblem of the fourth generation Divine King," said the Earth Consciousness.
Xue Dili: "?"
Xue Dili: "!!!"
Get rid of it, get rid of it! Darn it! Darn it!
Xue Dili nearly impulsively tossed the thing back into the lake. Indeed, it couldn’t escape Zeus, even in 2025, Zeus was still after him!
Is this the curse and fate of Greece...
Xue Dili couldn’t help but ridicule in his heart.
"This is also the last emblem from the Divine Era. After I reclaimed my status, I packed up the last batch, including many ’gods’ you’d only know well from later ages, driving them all into a subspace. It was the final resting point for the Divine Era, its twilight."
"And there, a Tenth Apostle was born." The Earth Consciousness’s voice conveyed.
Xue Dili and Mimic Venerable King instantly took this seriously.
Though his mother didn’t know a small fragment of Mimic Venerable King was inside him, Mimic Venerable King knew this was the local planetary consciousness and sensed something unusual.
This World Consciousness was unusually different, stronger, and even on an elemental level, very close to himself.
But upon reflection, he felt relieved as this planet’s consciousness was essentially born from a fragment of Venerable King, even older than himself by 4 billion years.
Although both possessed a portion of Venerable King’s fragments, his part as Venerable King was larger.
Essentially, the Earth Consciousness was closer to another consciousness born from a fragment of Venerable King; one that Xue Dili once encountered, named the "Evil Eye."
Although that thing was neither evil nor an eye.
