Chapter 692 - 407: Prototype Chat Group (Part 4)
Even though this feature was something the Mimic Venerable King cobbled together in just a few minutes, it was still a bit too bare-bones...
Since there were ready-made chat apps to use as reference, he immediately started giving feedback about how crude the interface was, and sent over some sample screenshots of existing chat UIs.
The Mimic Venerable King didn’t reply every time; it seemed like He really had gone off to deal with His own business.
Xue Dili started studying this thing he and the Mimic Venerable King had tinkered into existence. Even though all Xue Dili had contributed was a single idea and the rest was all put together by the Mimic Venerable King, he still felt a sense of accomplishment.
This was about to become a leftover artifact on the same level as the Mist Council. Even though it was still very primitive and rough right now, after a few iterations it would turn into an information channel that was way more convenient and efficient than the Mist Council.
Xue Dili began testing a few features. It was very bare: for now there were only basic functions like sending messages, projection communication, changing display names, and the like. This was nothing like the world chat group Xue Dili had imagined.
He glanced at his current display name in the group—it was his real name. Even though there were only two people in the group right now, himself and the Mimic Venerable King, the thought of using his real name as an online handle in the future still made Xue Dili very uncomfortable.
So he used his admin privileges to directly change his name to "Great Sage (Second Generation)".
Maybe he could actually start trying to use this identity to talk to other people.
Next was expanding the member list. The only method Xue Dili could think of right now was personally pulling people into the group.
He looked over at Captain Xing Jia’er beside him, then simply dragged him into the group.
["Great Sage (Second Generation)" has invited "Captain Xing Jia’er" to join the World Chat Group...]
["Captain Xing Jia’er" has joined the World Chat Group.]
"So this is the substitute product you and Your Majesty the Mimic Venerable King made together?" Captain Xing Jia’er began trying to operate the chat group panel with his mind; he clearly found the tech interesting as well.
"Yeah, we’re both just testers, but you actually managed to join?" Xue Dili was a bit surprised. Weren’t other people supposed to be incapable of receiving Subspace information?
Captain Xing Jia’er: "Only those below Apostle Level lack that capability. For people like us, who’ve already gained a bit of understanding and experience exploring Subspace, receiving this kind of information isn’t much of a problem."
Captain Xing Jia’er: "So let’s first invite other World Consciousnesses, or people at Apostle Level and above, and have them start using it for testing."
Xue Dili had no objections.
Things here were basically done. All that was left was for the Mimic Venerable King to start miniaturizing the System Panel once He’d gathered enough data, and to collect revision feedback for the official release.
"Then, Captain Xing Jia’er, see you later." Xue Dili smiled and nodded.
Captain Xing Jia’er also nodded, watching Xue Dili leave. Then he started racking his brains over who he should bring into the test.
Getting the other Tier Five members of Squad Five in would work, and he should also go invite some World Consciousnesses that had signed contracts with Squad Five.
In fact, the rise and approval of this tech was essentially about creating a tool that could send out instant distress calls from anywhere in the entire Cosmos, so that World Consciousnesses were no longer isolated and helpless, and the Interstellar Corps could rush support to wherever it was needed as fast as possible.
Unlike before, when a lot of the time a civilization had already been dead for tens of thousands of years by the time the Interstellar Corps found out. After all, with previous communication methods, message transmission was way too slow—nowhere near as efficient as just opening a Teleportation Gate and coming over to talk face to face.
But here came the problem: Teleportation Gates couldn’t be opened just anytime, anywhere, and coordinates weren’t eternal either. They had to be maintained at intervals, and checked to make sure they hadn’t drifted from their original location before they could be considered valid coordinates.
Thinking of this, Captain Xing Jia’er didn’t dither.
