The morning inside the house is very lively, with smoke and steam from the kitchen, flushing sounds from the bathroom, and the barking of the big yellow dog next door echoing throughout this small village.

Xue Dili quietly checked the time; it was past seven. He casually turned on the living room TV, listening to the news while starting to wash up and wait for breakfast.
"According to reports from our station’s journalists, astronomers have discovered that the Milky Way Galaxy is located at the center of a cosmic void. This void has a diameter of about 2 billion light-years, and astronomers have temporarily named it the KBC void."
"We invited a Professor of Astronomy from Ke University to explain why the Milky Way Galaxy is situated at such a peculiar void center where only the Milky Way Galaxy exists, and how it differs significantly in galaxy density compared to other regions."

The sound of running water and brushing teeth echoed in the bathroom, as Xue Dili with a mouth full of toothpaste, looked up and glanced at the news on the TV in the living room.
"The so-called KBC Great Void is actually quite easy to understand. You can think of the entire cosmos as a vast desert where each galaxy is an oasis within it. The Milky Way Galaxy doesn’t stand out at all, much like an isolated ancient Loulan city on the outskirts. Can you understand this analogy?"
"Furthermore, the KBC Great Void does not mean that there are no other planets besides the Milky Way Galaxy in the entire void. Compared to other regions, this area, besides the Milky Way Galaxy, has a scarcity of small information and matter, with a decrease of more than 50%."
"This is very much like an event that might have occurred within this cosmic void, clearing out surrounding galaxies, and to this day, all galaxies approaching here have slowly migrated in afterwards..."

Xue Dili dried the water on his face, and earnestly came to the TV to watch the local news channel’s interview with the Professor of Astronomy from Ke University.
Actually, Xue Dili noticed that the professor looked quite young and didn’t use very professional terminology; instead, he explained this supposed great void in very simple terms that even elementary school students could understand, downplaying its ominous nature as suggested by marketing accounts.
Xue Dili quietly observed, especially noticing the professor pulling out a simulated star map. It seemed, perhaps, that it was indeed true; within the deep recesses of the Milky Way Galaxy’s KBC region, the density of planets is much lower compared to other regions.
Xue Dili’s guards couldn’t help but start hypothesizing. No wonder even the Interstellar Corps said the Milky Way Galaxy is a peripheral galaxy. Looking at it this way, it indeed appears peripheral, with no large galaxy stepping stones surrounding it.
Within 2 billion light-years, there is only one large galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy.
The surrounding galaxies seem to have isolated the Milky Way Galaxy here as well, which is quite interesting.
This professor’s point of view was also very intriguing. He proposed that there might have originally been no galaxies here, and the Milky Way and other sparse small galaxies may have arrived here slowly due to the expansion of the cosmos, making the KBC region appear vacant.
"Time to eat." Auntie’s voice came.
"Okay!" Xue Dili immediately went to the table in the living room.
The interview on the TV and various speculations continued, as the professor proposed a series of hypotheses like the hypothesis of cosmic expansion and galaxy drift, explaining it further with specialized terms.
Until the end of the roughly ten-minute interview, the host asked: "Viewing it this way, does the Milky Way Galaxy indeed resemble Australia in the Pacific Ocean, a solitary island born in the center of a great void? Professor, assuming humans develop to the level of traversing the Milky Way, could we end up trapped in the KBC void, completely locked on this isolated island?"
The professor seemed a bit sweaty and replied, "That’s thinking too far ahead, and I believe that when humans are capable of traversing the Milky Way, the 2 billion light-year great void may no longer be an insurmountable barrier."
Finally, the professor joked, "What we should really be concerned about are those extraterrestrials on the small star systems within the KBC void. They might despair upon realizing that within millions or even billions of light-years around them, there’s only one fixed star system."
As the professor made this joke, the interview concluded, and Xue Dili quietly looked at the topic of the interview, then took out his phone to silently start searching for the KBC Great Void.
Sure enough, a plethora of news appeared; it was a hypothesis proposed by astronomers some time ago, and it has now become a hot topic on the internet.
"I’m off to school." Xue Dili checked the time; it was 7:30, time to head out.
"Teacher, wait for me!" Although it’s the start of the next semester, Fafnir has long been accustomed to her routine of visiting Ke University’s library, quickly grabbing her bag to follow Xue Dili.
The two actually set off in a bit of a hurry, mainly because Xue Dili was somewhat engrossed in the news and kept searching on his phone for a long time. Fortunately, they still managed to arrive at school before 8 o’clock.
This semester seemed to be nearing completion, with teachers highlighting key points extensively for exams. Xue Dili also felt as though he hadn’t attended many classes this semester. He basically attended less than two days of classes a week, spending most of the time on leave.
