Chapter 212: The Evil God Kaigulas
"Damn it — am I to meet my end here today?"
Peng Wufeng's face was a mask of despair, and in this moment the one he thought of in the depths of his heart was still his master.
It was just such a pity — he had yet to repay his master's kindness.
If there were a next life, he'd repay his master's kindness then.
But the next moment, the creature before them seemed to sense something. Its expression changed abruptly, and it tore open the space, meaning to flee.
Yet before it could escape, the strength of the surrounding space intensified at a pace visible to the naked eye.
"So this is the so-called Evil God? It does look quite terrifying, just as expected."
Zhu Qingyan looked at the Evil God. It stood ten thousand feet tall, and merely standing there, the aura on it made even her, a Peak Immortal Emperor, feel a faint threat.
Gu Daoshi, off to the side, felt the same.
Only Lu Xunxian wore an air of perfect composure. The so-called Evil God, in his eyes, was at most merely at the Early Immortal Emperor Realm.
It was only because of the eerie aura clinging to it that it was far stronger than an ordinary Early Immortal Emperor.
"Master, you've come."
Upon seeing Gu Daoshi and the others, Peng Wufeng's face lit up, and he hurried forward.
But Gu Daoshi and the others had no mind to spare for Peng Wufeng at the moment; they looked toward Lu Xunxian.
Lu Xunxian took a single step down and appeared before that creature.
"From here on, I ask and you answer. If your answers fail to satisfy me, I needn't spell out what becomes of you."
But what Lu Xunxian hadn't expected was that the creature spoke up of its own accord.
It let out an ear-piercing sound. "Release me, or the great Evil God, Lord Kaigulas, will never let you off."
"Shut up. I haven't given you permission to speak."
Lu Xunxian knit his brows, and the enormous creature was sent floating into midair under his control, its body compressed until it gave off rumbling crack after crack.
It let out agonized howls from its maw, but Lu Xunxian paid them no mind, and with a wave of his hand he sealed its speech.
After a good while, Lu Xunxian finally spoke again. "So — can you talk now?"
Looking again at the enormous creature, its face was full of terror, its four eyes brimming with awe of Lu Xunxian.
"My lord, please ask."
"Just what are you? And who is this Lord Kaigulas, this Evil God you spoke of?"
"My lord, that I cannot say. If I speak of it, I'll die."
Hearing Lu Xunxian's question, terror filled the eerie creature's face as it hurriedly answered.
Hearing this, Lu Xunxian knit his brows. "So you think that if you don't speak, you won't die?"
The eerie creature shuddered, then closed its eyes in despair, and the next moment was engulfed by those raging purple flames, devoured entirely.
Seeing this, Lu Xunxian's pupils contracted — clearly he hadn't expected it to take its own life without the slightest hesitation.
And the moment after it had killed itself, a spatial breach appeared within the secret realm.
The instant she sensed that spatial breach, Zhu Qingyan's pupils contracted sharply.
"It's that aura!"
Looking toward the spatial breach, the aura welling out of it was exactly the same as the eerie source atop Sun Mountain.
Following the spatial breach with their gazes, they saw the scene on the other side.
It was a ruined, decaying world; though they hadn't set foot in it, a single glance was enough to feel the despair on the far side.
And before the spatial breach stood a figure, its whole body pitch-black, seemingly shrouded in eerie power.
The figure turned around as well, looking toward Lu Xunxian and the others.
The next moment, Zhu Qingyan's and Gu Daoshi's faces changed drastically, for they had felt a threat lethal enough to kill.
The figure raised a hand, and three streams of eerie power came striking toward Lu Xunxian and the others.
Clearly, he had no intention of letting Lu Xunxian and the rest live.
Zhu Qingyan and Gu Daoshi naturally couldn't withstand it; at the critical moment it was Lu Xunxian who stepped before them, gathering up those three streams of eerie power with a wave of his hand.
And though the figure was shrouded in eerie power, everyone could feel his astonishment.
"You — just what are you?"
Looking at the figure, Lu Xunxian's expression turned solemn.
He could sense that the other's strength likely far surpassed his own — at the very least, not something his present self could match.
But it seemed the other was bound by some power and could not descend into the Immortal Realm.
"Me? You slay my servant and then ask me who I am?"
"Interesting."
A voice abruptly appeared within Lu Xunxian's mind.
From that single line, Lu Xunxian knew his identity.
The Evil God Kaigulas — judging by the aura, at the very least at the Late Dao Venerable Realm; truly worthy of being called an Evil God.
"Become my servant, and when This Venerable One returns to the Dao Realm, I shall grant you supreme power."
"With respect — I've no interest in being anyone's dog, so you can scram."
Lu Xunxian gave a cold snort, then raised a hand and patched the spatial breach shut.
And all of this happened in the space of a single spark.
Seeing Lu Xunxian seal the spatial breach away, Zhu Qingyan and Gu Daoshi finally let out a breath of relief.
"Senior Lu, just what was that?"
Gu Daoshi asked, his face grave.
Lu Xunxian waved a hand. "An Evil God. Kaigulas."
"So that was the Evil God Kaigulas? Formidable indeed."
Hearing this, Gu Daoshi wasn't all that surprised.
"Then, Senior, he's probably a being of the Dao Practitioner Realm?"
"No. Dao Venerable — and at least Late-stage at that."
Listening to Lu Xunxian's breezy words, Gu Daoshi's heart was struck with shock.
He'd never imagined Kaigulas was this powerful. Late Dao Venerable Realm — he could likely destroy the entire Immortal Realm with ease.
But Lu Xunxian's next words set his mind considerably more at ease.
"No need to worry. He seems to be bound by some rule, and so cannot descend into the Immortal Realm — or, to put it more precisely, the Dao Realm."
"I see. That's good, that's good."
Only then did Gu Daoshi let out a breath of relief, but the words that followed at once set his heart on edge again.
"Still, he said that sooner or later he'll return to the Dao Realm, so we do need to prepare — after all, we killed his servant."
Gu Daoshi: ...
I say, Senior, could you say everything in one go? Doling it out in fits and starts like this is honestly terrifying.
"Then, Senior Lu, can you deal with him?"
Both Zhu Qingyan and Gu Daoshi looked toward Lu Xunxian.
After all, in their eyes, it seemed only Lu Xunxian could match the other's strength.
Lu Xunxian spread his hands. "Not yet, for now."
Hearing this, the hearts of Gu Daoshi and Zhu Qingyan, hanging in suspense, finally sank dead.
If even Lu Xunxian couldn't deal with him, then the Immortal Realm was beyond saving.
But before their sinking hearts could finish dying, Lu Xunxian spoke up again.
"That said, by the time he returns to the Dao Realm, dealing with him shouldn't be too difficult."
This up-and-down whiplash left Zhu Qingyan and Gu Daoshi reeling from the swing, almost unable to catch up to it.
"Ahem — Senior Lu, all I'm saying is, next time could you get it all out in one breath?"
"I'll try my best."
