Chapter 87: Shock of Aethel Academy
The participants were surprised when they saw they were all ejected out of the desolate ground. They were back on the floating rune, all filled with confusion.
Some panicked that they failed. But seeing a lot of people around them, they realized something must have gone wrong.
"Everyone should calm down. The academy is facing some difficulties. The assessment would continue after this is solved."
Sylas’s voice resounded in the minds of the participants of the Dragon Continent. The same thing happened for every participant in every Continent.
They had ejected the participants back to where they left for the trial. What Seraphina and Lilith had caused had become a headache for them.
The participants exchanged glances. Some whispered among themselves. Others stood in silence, trying to make sense of what had just happened.
One participant spoke up. "What difficulties? What happened?"
Another voice chimed in. "Did something go wrong in the trial?"
Sylas’s voice came again, calm but firm. "That is all I can say for now. The academy will provide more information when it’s time. For now, rest. Recover. You will be notified when the assessment resumes."
The participants fell silent. Some nodded. Others sat down, their bodies still aching from the trial. The floating rune hummed softly beneath their feet.
And somewhere in the distance, the academy’s examiners were scrambling to deal with the chaos that had been unleashed.
Sylas rubbed his temples. He had a headache. Two ticking bombs. A destroyed trial ground. And an academy that would be asking questions he didn’t have answers to.
This is going to be a long day.
In the space they stood before, the other examiners’ figures appeared. They turned to Sylas.
"What are we going to do?"
Their gaze was on the screen that displayed Seraphina and Lilith’s battle. The sight alone was enough to give the examiners a headache.
Sylas stared at the screen. The two women were still locked in their clash. Flames and shadows collided. The ground was torn apart. And in the middle of it all, Lucien was unconscious.
"We will have to inform the principal and everyone," Sylas said, his voice heavy. "This is getting out of hand."
The other examiners nodded in agreement.
One of them spoke up. "How do we explain this? Two powerful beings fighting in the middle of an assessment? The principal will have questions."
Sylas sighed. "We tell the truth. That’s all we can do."
Another examiner shook his head. "The truth? That a participant’s wives decided to destroy the trial ground because they were fighting over him?"
Sylas’s jaw tightened. "We don’t have a choice."
The examiners fell silent. The screen flickered with the image of the desolate land, now scarred and broken beyond recognition.
Sylas turned away from the screen. His mind was already racing, trying to figure out how to explain this to the academy.
After a few minutes of reporting to the academy, Seraphina’s status and what had happened, numerous figures joined them in the space. Each of them carried an unfathomable aura, greater than that of Sylas.
"Sylas, we received your message. Who the hell would dare cause trouble within our assessment?" A middle-aged man said in a deep voice.
Sylas opened his mouth to respond, but another figure appeared and everyone fell silent. A white-haired tall old man stepped forward, looking like an ordinary mortal.
This was the principal of the Aethel Academy.
"Greetings, Principal," Sylas said, clasping his hands together.
"Sylas, I heard your report. What trouble is that brat Seraphina causing?" The principal bellowed in an angry voice.
Sylas’s gaze turned bright. The principal’s words had confirmed Seraphina’s identity, leaving no more doubt in his mind. He didn’t say anything. All he did was show the principal the video of Seraphina and Lilith’s battle.
After a while of their battle, they lost all communication with the desolate land, making the screen blank. Thank goodness, he had anticipated such a thing and recorded their battle before.
When the principal saw the battle of Lilith and Seraphina, he paused. He creased his eyebrows, trying to tame his anger.
"Even that brat Lilith is there. She must have sneaked into the trial."
Sylas froze. The other examiners did the same. It seems the principal knew the lady with Seraphina. This was a bit mind-blowing.
"What are they fighting for?" The principal asked in bafflement.
"They are fighting over a young man named Lucien," Sylas said respectfully.
Silence.
Everywhere became silent. The examiners that came with the principal all fell silent as they were shocked.
Did they just mishear?
These powerful beings, these brats, were fighting over a man?
The principal’s eye twitched. His jaw tightened. His fists clenched at his sides. The other examiners exchanged glances, not daring to speak.
The principal let out a long, slow breath. "A man," he repeated, his voice flat. "They are fighting over a man."
Sylas nodded carefully. "Yes, Principal."
The principal’s eye twitched again. He turned to the screen, staring at the blank display where the battle had been.
"Who is this Lucien?" he asked, his voice dangerously calm.
Sylas swallowed. "A participant. From the Dragon Continent. He’s... he’s the one they’re fighting over."
The principal stared at the screen for a long moment. Then he let out a heavy sigh.
"Find them," he said. "Bring them back. And bring this Lucien to me."
Sylas nodded. "Yes, Principal."
He turned away, his mind already racing with the task ahead. The other examiners dispersed, leaving the principal alone in the space.
The old man stared at the blank screen. His lips pressed into a thin line.
Two of the most troublesome brats I’ve ever known, fighting over a man... This is going to be a disaster.
He sighed and turned away. A disaster.
