Chapter 1001: He Didn’t Take Advantage of the Situation (5)
He would rather fight on a battlefield than go through such a torturous six hours again…
It felt like a whip was constantly whipping his heart…
He felt as good as dead in the past six hours.
“Is Huo Mian okay?” Zhu Lingling and Gao Ran also walked into the room; they were quite worried to see Huo Mian suddenly pass out.
“She’s okay. Like the doctor said, she was just overly nervous and wore herself out,” Gao Ran said comfortingly.
Jiang Xiaowei and Wei Liao also walked into the room, Huo Siqian followed closely behind them without speaking a word…
He was very quiet today…
Everyone felt distressed when they saw Huo Mian’s weak expression as she slept soundly on the bed.
“What a foolish girl… she might be the stupidest person the world…” Jiang Xiaowei was both angry and heartbroken.
“She’s not a fool, she’s just too set in her ways, once her heart is set on something, there’s no turning back. She’s a stubborn one,” Zhu Lingling added.
“Thankfully Qin Chu is okay, or we might have lost her today.” Jiang Xiaowei was relieved.
“Let’s all go back first, and let her take a good rest. She was sedated so she won’t be awake for a while, there’s no point in us staying here,” Gao Ran advised.
Everyone nodded and stood up… but Su Yu refused to budge…
“Yu…” Wei Liao reminded kindly.
“You guys can go first, I’ll stay with her for a bit.” Su Yu was reluctant to leave; no one knew how much he cherished the time he got to spend alone with Huo Mian.
“Alright, don’t stay for too long, you’ve had a long day too.”
Qin Chu and Huo Mian’s matters caused quite a disturbance over the last few days since all of them came to South Side multiple times a day.
Even Jiang Xiaowei, who was pregnant, would come in the morning, noon, and evening.
Wei Liao was even worried that his wife would have a miscarriage…
After everyone left, Su Yu quietly stayed by Huo Mian’s side.
The afternoon sunshine shone into the room and onto Huo Mian’s pale face with a faint glow.
Su Yu stood up and pulled the curtains a bit; he was afraid that the sun would disturb her sweet dreams.
Then, he sat down on a chair next to her bed and looked at her quietly, as if he could never get enough of her…
Even though the army surgeon said that Qin Chu was still in critical condition and needed to be under observation for another 48 hours, he knew that the surgery was successful and that Qin Chu would make a full recovery.
This meant that once Qin Chu woke up, he will no longer have the right to come over to South Side to take care of Huo Mian.
So he greedily wanted to stay longer, to look at her more and spend more time with her.
Just spending quiet time like this with her was more enough…
Su Yu felt like a saint; he did not even ask for anything in return when it came to her, and was willing to silently contribute.
One hour passed, and the sky outside was getting dark…
Su Yu looked down at the time and realized that he should probably go. Therefore, he got up and got ready to leave.
Before he left, he placed the bullet casing beside Huo Mian’s pillow.
His actions were light… as he was afraid of waking her up.
He said, “You didn’t die, so I don’t have to forget you. The promise does not count, so… I’m returning the bullet back to you.”
After speaking, he looked at Huo Mian with a gentle smile…
“Little dumb girl, sweet dreams.”
Then, Su Yu left reluctantly…
At Huo Mian’s most vulnerable moment, when Qin Chu was at the brink of death, Su Yu did not take advantage of the situation.
He was nervous like it was his own matter; he frantically looked for an army surgeon, begged his grandfather for help, and took care of Huo Mian.
He used to be the most temperamental young master in the city.
He also used to be someone who spent money like water… but this ordinary woman changed everything about him.
If he had not met Huo Mian, he may never have known what love felt like.
If he had not met Huo Mian, he may never have known what it was like to not be able to get what he wanted.
If he had not met Huo Mian, he may never have known what it was like to be lovesick.
If he had not met Huo Mian, he may never have known that he was capable of loving someone so much to the point of going crazy.
If Huo Mian didn’t make it today and died with Qin Chu…
He couldn’t imagine what he would do… he didn’t even dare to think about it.
Su Yu walked lonelily out of South Side; he got into his black Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and drove away.
Huo Mian woke up 12 hours later, a little past 2 AM.
“Dr. Huo…” The assistant nurse stumbled up sleepily upon hearing her wake up.
“Where’s Qin Chu?” The first thing that popped into her mind was her husband.
