Chapter 452 (1): Chaos in Hell
Enguema looked at his two allies furiously, cursing out the worthlessness of their alliance. He was a demon with a dream of becoming one of the Seven Deadly Sins. He had allied himself with Stolas and Mattea because they shared a common goal. Pounding on Mattea’s chest, they swore to dethrone one of the great demon lords.
Now, it seemed that he had overestimated his two allies. They were too cowardly to achieve greatness.
One should value peace? Buy their safety? They were just cowards.
“I’m warning you. He’s strong,” Enguema said through gritted teeth. “If we don’t take him out today, we will be at his mercy tomorrow. This is our best chance.”
It made sense, but both Stolas and Mattea had their own agendas. They kept their distance from Enguema as if they had agreed to do so beforehand. Their friendship wobbled in the storm.
Enguema’s expression darkened. He didn’t understand what his two allies were thinking. Furious, he vanished into the distance in a streak of red light.
He was going to tell his parent!
“Nice to meet you, formidable lord. I’m Stolas, the Lord of Night. You must have heard of me.”
“Mattea, the Abyssal Spider Queen.”
I didn’t just hear of you, Wayne thought. I was the one secretly responsible for your failure in opening the Gate of Hell.
“So you’re the Lord of Night and the Abyssal Spider Queen. Your reputation precedes you. I see that you’re indeed the real deal among demons.” Wayne put away his Abyssal Sword. When he noticed Mattea’s leering eyes, he gave her a polite yet graceful smile like a lecher.
He was a newcomer who didn’t know Hell’s rules well, but he was certain that the female demons took pride in their charisma. If he didn’t respond positively, she would be offended.
Seeing the newcomer exchanging flirtatious glances with Mattea like they wouldn’t stop unless someone stopped them, Stolas took a step forward and said politely, “Sir, I haven’t gotten your name.”
Stolas’s human form was a young man with long, black hair that swayed in the air. His gentle elegance made him seem like a learned man. Mattea’s mature charisma was not bad, either. She looked... accommodating.
The two demon lords would still be considered elites in high society if they were in the human world.
“I’m Solsknar, an old inhabitant of the Abyss,” Wayne introduced himself. “You must have heard of the Abyssal Pythons.”
He hadn’t known much about Solsknar, but he had remedied that before setting out for this trip, asking Vichy about Solsknar. Due to his lack of interest, he had not dug deeper into the Abyssal Pythons.
He knew enough to impersonate Solsknar, though.
Stolas frowned. “I know a Solsknar. Your faith... doesn’t lie in Hell, does it?”
“How did you know?”
“I dabble in intelligence work.” Stolas smiled. Intelligence work was very involved work. He only knew a thing or two.
Among the Big Three of the demon alliance, Stolas’s intelligence was crucial. It wasn’t strange that he knew about Solsknar, so Mattea didn’t question it.
Wayne didn’t question it because he didn’t know much about them. He nodded and said, “Then I’ll be frank with you. I started following the Goddess of Darkness a long time ago and am likely to become Her third subordinate god.”
“Ah, congratulations in advance, then.” Stolas raised an eyebrow. “Based on my observation, you’ve come to Hell with your original form. You’re an original inhabitant of the Abyss, which has become part of Hell. It won’t be easy for you to return to the Divine Realm of Darkness. May I interpret that as you no longer following the Goddess of Darkness?”
“No, my faith remains unchanged.” Wayne sighed gravely, his expression crumbling. “It’s not my intention to come in my true form. I met a difficult enemy and had no choice but to make a discreet move to sacrifice my thought replica in Hell, allowing my main body to come here.”
“What kind of enemy is capable of pushing you this far?”
“He’s strong, so strong that I cannot even put up a resistance...” Wayne shook his head, seething while complimenting said enemy—himself.
Stolas would like to find out more, but Wayne didn’t want to go into it. “I haven’t been here for long. Some time ago, I came in the form of thoughts and made a deal with the Lord of Gluttony, acquiring a territory in Hell. May I ask why Hell has spiraled into chaos?”
Mattea smiled. “It’s a long story. If you have time, Sir Solsknar, please come to my palace so that I can tell you the story properly.”
Wayne’s heart thumped. This witch. A demon was indeed different in Hell than when they were in the human world. Even someone with as much self-control as him had trouble resisting Mattea’s temptation. If even the spider queen was so irresistible, he shuddered to think about the charm of the Lord of Lust!
“I’d like that.” Wayne nodded. He didn’t have to worry about his reputation suffering when he was playing a pervert with Solsknar’s face. Just in case, he turned to Stolas and said, “This isn’t a good place for conversation. Would you like to come with us?”
“Might as well.” x2
Stolas agreed readily since he would like more information. Mattea’s proposition had turned into a three-way date. After some consideration, she decided it wasn’t a bad idea. Comparison allowed for more concrete estimation. Since she was considering recommending Wayne to her superior as a pet, she had to be meticulous.
Mattea’s nest was located in the depths of her territory. It wasn’t dark like a spider’s nest in the ground, but a grandiose palace that could match the Papal State in extravagance. The luxury it radiated showed that its owner was a demon who understood how to enjoy life.
The three non-humans made it to the living room. Mattea unzipped her dress, the fabric slipping to her chest. When she saw Wayne and Stolas talking without throwing her a glance, she quickly zipped her dress back up.
So they were talking business rather than doing business. They should’ve told her to avoid the misunderstanding.
Several half-spiders, half young women crawled into the living room, serving black tea with a dark coloration. They wore purple gauze that didn’t quite conceal their bodies. The half concealment made one yearn for a clearer look.
In terms of charisma, though, these vassals weren’t even good enough to be Mattea’s extras. Wayne threw them a glance before looking away.
Then he threw them another glance.
He simply wanted to blend in with Hell’s culture as a newcomer in case others saw through him. He didn’t reject the black tea either. Picking up the cup from the table, he took a sip. He at least had that much confidence since he had long stopped being human.
“Huh, why do I taste milk?” Wayne turned to Mattea in confusion. Logically, it should contain poison instead. The pairing of black tea and milk was too normal to belong in Hell.
Mattea smiled without a word. She simply puffed up her chest and guided his gaze to the answer.

He was thankful for the hospitality, but he truly didn’t deserve the effort. He hoped that she wouldn’t go this far again.
Lowering the cup, he didn’t say anything about what had just happened. Instead, he asked Stolas again what was wrong with Hell and why wars were breaking out everywhere.
“It’s because of the Seven Demon Lords,” Stolas said slowly. “Hell was chaotic before, too, but the Seven Demon Lords rarely got involved. Now, though...”
He told Wayne about the war between Pride and Envy first. Envy was the one who started the war and doggedly provoked Pride, making many aggressive declarations.
Pride, if you don’t kill me, I’ll keep chasing you!
Envy had been quite unhinged lately and never stopped pulling ridiculous, laughable moves. No one knew what he was thinking or why he insisted on clowning himself to make others happy. All they knew was that Envy swore to make things right because of the injustice he had suffered.
“Please tell me more about that!” Wayne said seriously.
He knew the gist of it. His question was no different from rubbing salt in Envy’s injury—and then rubbing cumin and chili powder into it for good measure.
Since Envy had worked so hard to amuse others and made himself the Lord of Clowns, Wayne would have to be truly inhuman not to enjoy the entertainment a few more times! He wanted the details!
“At first, it’s because of Envy’s vanity...” Stolas shook his head, laughing in remembrance. “Envy said that he ran into Śār Hesione and saw the Purity of the Seven Sacred Virtues covered in filth, losing her purity to a shameless, despicable, lowly human...”
“Wait, allow me to interrupt you.” Wayne pulled a long face. “Whether the absurd news is accurate, for the human to fool the pure Śār, there has to be something worthy of praise about the human. Calling him shameless and despicable is too subjective.”
“Perhaps,” Stolas responded noncommittally. “The Seven Sacred Virtues and the Seven Deadly Sins correspond to each other. We demons cannot let go of the Seven Deadly Sins, and the angels cannot let go of the Seven Sacred Virtues. The Lord of Envy’s lie was too far-fetched. The Lord of Pride exposed him and mocked his vanity harshly...”
“The Lord of Envy didn’t have evidence, so he sent his angel of hell to the human world, swearing to prove the Lord of Pride wrong...”
“The angel of hell never returned. The Lord of Envy once again became a laughingstock.”
“It was a simple lie at first. Then it was about his pride. The Lord of Envy took control over the Gate of Hell and met the reincarnated angels in the human world. He insisted that he caught Hesione, but Hesione escaped from Hell...”
“The Lord of Pride mocked him for spouting an obvious lie. Because Envy refused to take a beating lying down, he challenged the Lord of Pride to a duel and ended up beaten thoroughly. His defiance led to the war between the two demon lords.”
“A lie always leads to more lies to complete the deception. The Lord of Envy only has himself to blame for his current situation. He doesn’t deserve any sympathy.”
(一`´一)
What? The Lord of Pride has seen Hesione in Londan and learned of her loss of purity. Auriel and Gerar have also left quite a stain on their track record. The jokes about Heaven should’ve become popular in Hell. Why hasn’t the story been updated?
Wayne didn’t understand. Pride knew the truth and knew that Envy hadn’t lied. Why had he twisted the facts to stop the story from updating? How about the news about the Anointed One? Why had Pride said nothing? It was the perfect chance to fight their way back to Heaven, yet the Seven Demon Lords were too busy fighting each other. Was this really wise?
Hesione had said that while there was no demon god in Hell, the Lord of Pride was the undeniable leader. What was the leader thinking, then? Was he trying to do everything on his own?
Wayne couldn’t understand it. It was one thing for Pride to hide the information about the Anointed One. It would be no different from Mikhael and Hesione trying to stop the other from finding the Anointed One. But why would Pride hide the fact that Hesione had lost her purity? The news would make Heaven a joke and boost morale in Hell. Pride should be agreeing with Envy.
Oh, right. Pride would never agree with anyone. Even when someone was objectively right, Pride would label it fake news.
The Lord of Clowns had had it hard. It was because Pride had been sabotaging him that he couldn’t help but furiously demand a beating.
