Chapter 425 (2): Watch Closely, Wayne. This is How You Use Julia.
As she spoke, Sukra actually lay down. Corte and Galen exchanged a derisive glance, using their divine arts to summon projections to fight in their stead, heading toward the Thrones. Sukra followed in resignation, touching her eyes. Wayne’s violent injection had filled her to the brim. She would use her ultimate skill twice for digestion.
The three of them entered the battle. The projections of the Goddess of Sun and the Goddess of Moonlight emerged, and the door to the Underworld opened. Their involvement increased the pressure on the demons.
Since the demons were at a disadvantage, and they insisted on following the traditions of making sure the others were the ones to suffer, half of them were taken out, leaving only five.
At first, they had done nothing, only focusing on running at the front. Then, they guessed what would happen and, not wanting to be the cannon fodder, they did nothing. Later, they knew they needed to do something, but couldn’t. Now, they wished they had done something, but it was already too late.
The Holy Roman Empire’s legitimacy might be debated, but not Hell’s seat of power—it was obviously in Windsor. The opportunists acted the same way!
Hestia looked at the five surviving demons, her full chest heaving as she panted like a blower. Olga was panting just as heavily, only her breathing was less pronounced because of the differences in their figure.
They were exhausted. Even with Fred buffing them to Heaven and back and Sukra, Corte, and Galen assisting them, they were still beyond exhausted from the intense fight. They could not go on. Even their lance-wielding hands were trembling.
If the five demons fought back at this moment, they could each grab a beautiful lady, and there would be a handsome blond man left unclaimed. However, they were such weasels that they glanced at the booming vitality field and continued to flee without looking back, worried that they would miss the chance to escape.
The three angels and humans could only watch the demons leave. Sukra put on her bandages. She had used her eyes too much, so there was nothing more she could do. Finally, she could lie down.
Boom!!!
A loud bang echoed as the space where the underground catacombs had existed was turned upside down. A dark vortex-shaped tunnel filled the dome. The violent currents made it difficult to stand straight. A terrifying suction swept over the five demons and pulled them in.
“Gate of Hell!” Hestia called out in surprise, speaking in a hurry. “Let’s get out of here. If we fall into Hell, we won’t be able to return to the human world.”
As soon as she said that, she saw two rays of white light flying away. Olga and Fred were already gone.
Fred wasn’t as heartless as Olga. Since Wayne had once saved him, he remembered to give Hestia a buff before leaving, in return for the Śār’s goodwill. That was the last bit of support he could manage; he was so drained that he couldn’t milk himself further.
Under the Gate of Hell’s sphere of influence, the space of the underground catacombs became isolated. Swathes of soil and remains floated and got swept up by the strong gale, pulled into the black tunnel in the shape of a sunken vortex above.
The Gate of Hell was like an upside-down staircase. When someone climbed up, they were heading to Hell.
Gravity was gone. Sukra, Corte, and Galen slowly lifted off the ground. They had exhausted their stamina and half of their thoughts, unable to use their divine arts. With the simplest wind magic, they tried to maintain their balance and propel themselves away from the Gate of Hell.
They were moving so slowly that Hestia couldn’t stand not doing anything. Grabbing Corte with her left hand and Sukra with her right hand, she had Galen hold onto her neck before beating her wings to accelerate their escape.
Galen could see nothing. As someone with a slim, balanced figure, she never imagined that such a heavy burden existed in the world. She was close to suffocating.
Boom! x2
Two explosive noises rang at the same time from two crash landings. Auriel and Hesione plunged, their bodies wrapped by bands of golden light.
Wiping blood off his lips, Auriel looked at the forcibly opened Gate of Hell in shock. To prove that he hadn’t lied, the Lord of Envy had resolved to drag Hesione to Hell to parade her before the six other demon lords. For that, he had spent a great deal of thoughts and made a tremendous sacrifice to open the Gate of Hell. Auriel didn’t understand why Envy would do something that benefits neither others nor himself. The demon lord had to be mad.
Envy wasn’t mad. He just felt wronged.
He had been subject to the jeers of his colleagues, been considered a joke by everyone at the company, lost his most competent subordinates, received sarcastic remarks from the higher-ups of the enemy company, and been helpless when others lied right in his face...
Anyone would’ve found it difficult to endure such treatment, let alone the Lord of Envy, who had always been petty.
If he weren’t petty, he wouldn’t be the embodiment of Envy, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
“Hahaha—”
Envy stood right before the doorway to Hell, his long black hair flapping in the wind. Though his clothes were bloodied, he didn’t seem pitiful. He had gained the upper hand fighting two Śārim at once. Today was the peak of his demonic life.
Wielding his demonic sword of darkness in one hand, Envy raised his other hand, with mixed golden blood on his fingertips.
Angels’ blood!
After awakening, Auriel’s and Hesione’s life essence started evolving into angels. As they were the most high-ranking Seraphim, their blood was also the most precious among all angels.
Acquiring Blood of Heaven, Envy was able to tear a hole into Heaven’s seal, opening the Gate of Hell. He had suffered a great backlash, leading to his main body in Hell becoming weaker, and the Gate of Hell wasn’t going to stay open forever. Once the blood evaporated, the Gate would close. This was going to be a losing deal for Envy one way or another.
But that was good enough! He would take Hesione to Hell and make every demon see the truth. Pride would be staring, struggling to recover his jaw.
He! Envy! Wasn’t a laughingstock in Hell!
Hesione flapped her wings to resist the Gate of Hell’s pull. Her golden eyes turned grave, and blood streaked down the corner of her mouth.
“What’s wrong with you, Hesione?” Auriel demanded. “Why is your power in the human world so weak?”
Only after the battle began did he realize that Hesione wasn’t as powerful as he had expected. She was weak. She retained her memories as a human, so her efficiency in regaining her power in Heaven had plummeted. Moreover, her divine power was too divided. More than half of it was entrusted to Wayne—to the stigma on the tip of his tongue.
Given the circumstances, Hesione could fight regular demons, but she was no match for Envy, a demon lord.
First, you gave away your purity. Then you gave away your divine power. What’s so good about the human that you would give him so much?
When Hesione didn’t respond, Auriel huffed, “Envy has your blood and can open the Gate of Hell. Any lives lost will be your responsibility.”
He flapped his six wings, rushing toward the Gate of Hell in a streak of golden light.
The Golden Law and the Seven Deadly Sins clashed violently, generating overwhelming energy that stirred up a tide, accelerating the collapse of the underground catacombs. More and more rock, soil, and remains flew up.
Hesione took a deep breath. Within her, Mona had granted her full authority to fight demons. The speed of the integration of their memories reached an incredible level. The further their integration progressed, the greater her power. However, she still wasn’t powerful enough to deal with the current Envy.
“Have you lost your head? Where’s the Śār who shows no mercy to demons?”
A familiar voice spoke up. Hesione didn’t have to turn around to know who it was. Topless, Wayne held Enguema’s still-cursing head in one hand while grabbing Hesione’s shoulder with his other hand, kissing her deeply. As the tips of their tongues pressed together, he returned the power of the stigma to Hesione. Sensing her resistance, he slapped her backside hard.
After a moment, Hesione wiped away the saliva and blood at the corner of her mouth, frowning. “What are you going to do now that you’ve returned the divine power to me?”
“Why would you ask that?” Wayne lifted the head in his grip. “I’m not a useless pretty face.”
Ignoring that, Hesione said, “Stay here. I’ll join Auriel and take down the Lord of Envy. No matter what happens, do not take a step closer to the Gate of Hell.”
The Anointed One’s safety was crucial. Hesione would rather fall to Hell than allow Wayne to get any closer to the Gate of Hell.
“Don’t worry,” Wayne promised, aiming to pat her on the chest. “I’m most afraid of death.”
The Śār dodged the hand. She warned him to honor his word with a pointed look. If he dared lie to her, he would never touch her ever again.
She extended her six wings with the holy intent of the Golden Law surrounding her. Her majestic golden greatsword extended against the wind. Accompanied by dignified bell tolls and a faint chant, the blade swung down on the Gate of Hell with a boom.
Darkness peeled off in large chunks. The Gate of Hell’s sunken spiral stairs collapsed as well. Another heavy swing of the golden greatsword hit, and the Gate of Hell burst with a large opening fissure amid radiant light and shadow.
Auriel had been keeping Envy busy. Seeing that, the demon lord’s eyes radiated a ray of black light. His chance had come!
Ignoring the sacred lance piercing through his chest, he splayed his fingers and disintegrated half of his body. His Seven Deadly Sins manifested as a sea of black chains that poured down upon Auriel.
“Hahaha—”
While laughing, Envy transformed into a tide of darkness, cascading upward like a whale devouring prey, wrapping around the golden greatsword to push it toward the Gate of Hell.
Meanwhile, Enguema, knowing that there was no escaping for him, inflicted his second curse. Igniting the Seven Deadly Sins in his body, he moved his name higher on the list of Wayne’s investors.
At the same time, Stolas’s vitality field fell apart. Eight black hurricanes rose toward the sky, rushing toward the Gate of Hell from eight directions.
Rognes went through the portal to stop Stolas. He succeeded in intercepting him six times, but failed to find his skull. What bad luck. He didn’t even succeed on a three out of four chance.
The final two hurricanes approached the Gate of Hell, merging into one and diving down the spiral staircase with the white skull.
Boom!!
A white figure intercepted Stolas, kicking him in the face. Stolas slammed into the spiral below. Before he could steady himself, two rays of heat vision knocked him down.
Following a flash of white light, Rognes teleported through a portal and howled as he erased the last of Stolas’s thoughts.
It was a hundred percent chance this time, and he got it right.
His heartbeat accelerated suddenly. He went into a daze with Death energy radiating from him, submerging himself and Julia in a sea of grey mist.
Wayne didn’t have the time to observe Rognes’s condition. He was so close to the Gate of Hell that he might as well have one foot inside. The terrible suction was too much for even him to resist at full power.
Just then, the tide of darkness and the golden greatsword fell apart at the same time. Envy and Hesione had arrived at the mouth of the Gate of Hell. Unlike the panicked Hesione, Envy was beside himself with joy. He got his packaged deal with no hard work on his part. Today was indeed the peak of his demonic life.
“You degenerates, go to Hell with me!”
