Chapter 417 (2): Wayne the Anointed One Will Descend Tonight!
The four women in the back had never seen the secretary lose her temper before, and it scared them for reasons they did not understand. The alarm bell rang in their heads, warning them not to get on Hesione’s bad side. Or they might not get out of the car alive.
Sukra’s heart thumped. What an amazing woman. No wonder she was able to bed the Death Knight—no, the Death Knight was the amazing one for recruiting such powerful help. He was so well prepared and had put in so much effort that he would surely get Rognes out.
Unlike Sukra, Hestia’s thinking was simple. The momentary intimidation had left her mind blank. When she recovered, her shock became a strong shame and guilt.
She had flinched!
Not only had she failed to protect the Śār’s purity, but she had also felt fear facing the culprit’s taunting. She was a poor excuse of a subordinate for the excellent Śār.
Fists clenched, she curled up in the back and fumed.
Wayne glanced at Hesione in confusion. He didn’t understand the source of her ire. She had taken quite good care of Hestia. Though Hestia had offended her nonstop, she had only ever beaten Hestia up, torn her clothes apart, and cuckolded her...
Anyway, the Śār was too gentle to do Hestia harm. She had only been warning Hestia, in a personal capacity, to stop being stubborn. The earlier glare, however, was business.
Wayne could sense that Hesione had revealed the energy of a Śār. If Hestia’s misunderstanding hadn’t been that deeply ingrained in her, she would’ve realized the truth.
How absurd. Hesione even acts out of character to keep her secret. Something’s not right for her to suddenly become so serious.
Wayne reached Mona with his thoughts, asking her what was going on. Mona hadn’t taken the matter seriously in the beginning, but when she perused Hesione’s thoughts, she trembled and responded telepathically to Wayne, telling him about the Anointed One.
Resurrection, humanoid but not human, a god that walked the human world—someone who checked all three boxes would be the Anointed One!
Mona’s thoughts trembled with ecstasy. She had been a clown, looking for a reincarnated angel when she was one, the experience making her depressed. But it turned out that while she hadn’t found a reincarnated angel, she had found the Anointed One!
She completed the mission the reincarnated angels had descended to complete before even awakening!
You’re celebrating prematurely. I didn’t come back to life in the traditional sense, Wayne grumbled to himself. Sensing her increasing admiration, he puffed out his chest, owning what he didn’t own.
Clarifying the matter wouldn’t convince Mona, so he didn’t try.
“Speaking of which, an inhuman humanoid creature coming back to life as a god on earth... isn’t that Superman?” Wayne snorted. “You’re looking for Clark. What does that have to do with me, Wayne? Is it just because Wayne and Clark are friends... Wait, the Anointed One isn’t actually a Clark, is he?”
He mumbled under his breath while shaking his head. No one knew what he was talking about.
“I asked you a question,” Hesione urged. “Get to the point!”
“Look at you, getting impatient again.”
Wayne frowned slightly. He had already claimed the Śār, and he wasn’t in the habit of returning what he had claimed. He would be the Anointed One one way or another. Besides, he did fit the three criteria listed by the prophecy.
“Wayne” died, and Wayne returned to life, so he had come back to life.
He was an Astral life doing inhuman things while wearing a human skin, so he was an inhuman humanoid being.
Then he had copied the ancient god, making him an ancient god lite, which meant he was a god in the human world.
Yes, he checked all the boxes. Wayne the Anointed One descended tonight!
Since he fit all the criteria, he could confidently make the claim.
“Say something!”
“Fine...” Wayne frowned like he was deep in thought. Following the example of the Anointed One that he knew from his world, he responded deliberately, “My death has nothing to do with Sukra. As for the details, how would I know when I was a mortal? I just knew that I was dead for three days, and then I came back alive.”
Hesione listened closely.
“After my resurrection, I gained the power of the Astral Plane. My life essence is no longer that of a human, and I have a large eye that looks like the Eye of Judgment that angels have. That’s why Mona misunderstood and insisted on selling herself to me...”
“Get to the point!!”
“...”
Smack!
In the back, Hestia was shaking so violently in rage that her bouncy assets drew the shocked gazes of the three other women. Givenchy tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, Sukra touched the bandages covering her eyes, and Isabella gulped. They all stayed silent and nonchalant.
“After my rebirth, I became an Astral life while retaining the mind of a human. I once received an invitation from an ancient god on Dragonheart Island, who showed me what a true god is. I didn’t want to give up my human appearance and emotions, so I didn’t turn into Them...”
“Mona knows everything that happened afterwards. I became unusually gifted in magic overnight. I’m able to learn everything at a glance, no matter how complicated. That’s how I became the chosen knights. I haven’t actually received the recognition from the goddesses...”
“Same with the Seven Deadly Sins and the Golden Law. I could master them after touching them. To me, tentacles are all I need for magic.”
“Though I’m not a demigod, I can create vassals. My first vassal is Do, and Bo is my second. The girls at the library are my vassals, too. I’ve resurrected them...”
“I awakened many more superpowers, including flight and my high affinity with the four elements...”
Wayne said a lot. The black car pulled over at the back door of the library housing the Church of Nature’s head office. When he got out of the car, he was just about done with his story.
“That’s it for me. I’m still looking into why I’ve come back to life, so I can’t give you a definite answer. I suspect it has something to do with the Astral Plane, though.”
Haven’t you suspected Heaven? Hesione asked silently. The palms of her clenched fists had become drenched in sweat at some point. Wayne might not know it, but Heaven’s evolution was closely related to the Astral Plane. Upon entering Heaven, all lives would evolve to resemble Astral life, from the most high-ranking Seraphim to the lowest-ranking regular angels.
This man was the Anointed One! She had completed her mission!
Hesione couldn’t believe it. Mona was the one who had found the Anointed One and introduced him to the path of the Holy Light, which meant she was technically the one to do it, which meant the mysterious demon’s seal on her had helped, too. Otherwise, she would’ve awakened early and missed Wayne.
The Pope and the demon were quite nice. Heaven should thank them!
Though there were some unpleasant interludes, all was well as long as it ended well. If Wayne was the Anointed One, she could claim that she hadn’t lost her purity with a clear conscience.
What had been troubling Hesione was resolved at that moment. Losing purity? They were the Anointed One and a Śār. Clearly, they were furthering their purity. Yes, that was it!
Tension drained from her body. When she opened her eyes again, she was looking at Wayne in a different light. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, she had found the Anointed One and completed her mission; she just had to put aside the Anointed One’s severely lacking morality.
Once her memories were fully integrated, she would gain the power to return to Heaven. It was a perfect plan!
Things looked different from different perspectives. In the past, Hesione found looking at Wayne for even a second to be a second too much, but not now. Given how important the Anointed One was, his safety must come first, followed by virtues. That could be corrected. It wasn’t too late to change him now.
Hesione thought long and hard, but couldn’t come up with a way to implement the last part of the plan.
For one, she didn’t have the final say; Wayne did. For another, if she couldn’t even convince Mona, how was she going to convince Wayne? She couldn’t possibly resort to pillow talk every time. That would be perverse.
Besides, ignorance might have been an excuse for her past transgression, but now that she had learned the truth, she couldn’t keep offending the Anointed One.
Mona had been broadcasting Hesione’s concerns to Wayne in real time. He nodded to himself, telling Mona to play along and refrain from intervening with Hesione’s decision-making. He would like to see how she was going to guide the Anointed One, whose natural inclination was to fall, to become a virtuous man.
The office door opened. Corte and Galen blinked in shock. It hadn’t been that long, and Wayne had already found two beautiful companions? Who was the cranky-looking lady? She looked lewd!
“Let me introduce you,” Wayne said. “This is Hestia, a spy I’ve planted among the reincarnated angels. There’s another spy who’s continued her undercover work. Once she returns, she’ll join us to destroy the demons.”
“This is Sukra, the Holy Maiden of Death. She’s here to look into the Headless Knight and share common goals with us. I’ve had a good conversation with her. She’ll follow my orders from now on.”
“Corte, Galen, you’re Holy Maidens, too. You should get to know each other.”
Wayne scanned the shocked faces in the room. He suddenly realized how varied their hair colors were: blonde, brunette, platinum blonde, red, grey, and green-streaked...
He touched his own black hair, marveling, “The world of magic doesn’t have many other colors to choose from now.”

“We don’t have much more time!”
Somewhere in Palis, two men and one woman met in a bar. They were the three demon lords representing the demon alliance: Enguema, the Lord of Blood, Stolas, the Lord of Darkness, and Mattea, the Abyssal Spider Queen. They had created vessels in the human world, allowing them to descend.
“Andrius was banished. He said that he saw Death...” Stolas talked about the unexpected turns of events. “The Church of Sun and the Church of Moonlight were wiped out. We don’t know by whom...”
“The Church of Heavenly Father was cleared out, confirmed to be the angels’ doing. The Papal State has sent its people...”
“We seem to have become the public enemies of all of the Chosen Land overnight.”
“Isn’t that good?” Enguema cackled. “The Gate of Hell is going to open. Such a grand spectacle should be witnessed by more.”
“What about the Church of Nature?” Mattea picked up a glass of wine. “Do we hit it as planned?”
“It’s safer to go through the same process.” Stolas glanced at Mattea. “Send your familiar. It doesn’t matter if it succeeds. The church may become a significant threat, so we should send them some false information.”
“What about the Lord of Envy?”
How would I know? It’s like he’s gone mad!
“Put him aside for now.” Stolas shook his head. “His target is in Londan, so he’s only borrowing the Gate of Hell.”
Mattea nodded wordlessly before bidding her two allies farewell. She melted into darkness.
She would find her master, Lord of Lust, a good vessel. She had already set her eyes on someone. It was time to have a chat with the candidate tonight.
