Chapter 185 : Triple The Amount Of Chakra In Nine Tails
Although Tsunade had been struck by the energy blast earlier and her body was seriously injured, once she activated the Strength of a Hundred Seal, her wounds began to heal quickly.
Blood still clung to the corner of her mouth as she stood outside the barrier, visibly worried. She was nervous. After Riku had spoken earlier, he hadn’t said another word, which made her increasingly uneasy.
But inside the barrier, Riku was absorbing the surrounding lightning—more precisely, his eyes were absorbing it.
These bolts weren’t ordinary lightning. They carried the unique thunderstorm chakra inherent to Riku’s Rinnegan.
His Rinnegan had significantly enhanced his Lightning Release affinity. Beyond the standard abilities of the Rinnegan, his lightning nature had evolved considerably, mainly due to his frequent use of Lightning Style techniques. Over time, his body itself had adapted and evolved to better handle this element.
Sakura had only suffered minor injuries. She soon rushed over to Tsunade’s side. Seeing her sensei watching the barrier so anxiously, she couldn’t help but feel that Riku was incredibly important to her.
For nearly an hour, Tsunade stood with clenched fists.
"Please be okay... please be okay..."
Even though Riku had spoken casually before, Tsunade couldn’t shake the fear gnawing at her. She didn’t want to lose him.
Finally, when Tsunade could hardly bear the waiting any longer, the barrier surrounding Riku began to dissipate.
His clothes had been torn apart by the discharged energy, but fortunately, he had extras stored in a sealing scroll. The outfit he put on now was one Tsunade had chosen for him, though he had never worn it until today.
As the barrier faded, Tsunade’s eyes widened in relief. If Sakura hadn’t been there, she might’ve rushed to embrace Riku on the spot—she had been terrified just moments ago.
Seeing him unharmed, Tsunade trembled with joy.
Sakura also let out a relieved breath. "Sensei, Riku’s okay. That’s a relief!"
Tsunade calmed herself, forcing a smile. "Yes... he’s fine. That’s all that matters."
She tried to appear composed, but she was clearly overwhelmed with emotion.
Riku approached, noticing the blood on Tsunade’s lips and the wounds across her body—though they were already beginning to mend.
Without a word, he reached into a sealing scroll and pulled out a small medicine bottle.
"I’ve got two left," he said, handing her one of the pills.
It was a healing pill he had made some time ago but never had the chance to use.
Tsunade stared at the crystal-clear pill, puzzled. "What is this?"
She could tell it was a medicine, but she had never seen one crafted so precisely.
Riku smiled. "It’s a healing pill I refined myself. It accelerates physical recovery and works really well. I’ve given it to Guy-sensei and Yamato-sensei before, and they were impressed."
Tsunade hesitated, then took the pill.
Almost immediately, her slowly healing internal injuries began to recover at an astonishing pace. Her eyes lit up.
"This is incredible," she said. "Can it be mass-produced?"
Riku shook his head with a wry smile. "No. The ingredients are incredibly rare. It took me years to gather enough for a few pills, and now there are only two left."
Tsunade looked disappointed. If a medicine like this could be produced at scale, it would revolutionize medical support in the field—far more effective than soldier pills.
The damage she’d sustained from the backlash of Riku’s energy had now completely healed.
Sakura peeked curiously at the medicine bottle in Tsunade’s hand. There was still one pill left inside.
After recovering, Tsunade turned to Riku with concern. "What exactly happened in there?"
Riku gave her a small nod.
He didn’t say much, but Tsunade could tell—he had succeeded. She didn’t know what form his Sharingan had evolved into, but since Sakura was still present, she refrained from asking further.
Later, after chatting briefly with Sakura, the girl took her leave. She seemed to sense that Tsunade had something important to discuss with Riku.
Once she was gone, Riku deactivated the seal over his eyes and opened his Rinnegan.
His eyes were a radiant purple-gold. Faint golden ripple patterns surrounded three tomoe—exactly like the Sharingan’s. In the center of the tomoe was a small golden orb, around which countless arcs of blue and white lightning crackled.
Tsunade gasped and instinctively covered her mouth. "That... that’s the Rinnegan?!"
She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. The legendary Sage’s Eye—Riku had it.
Riku turned to her with a calm smile. "I didn’t expect you to recognize it, Lady Tsunade."
Still stunned, Tsunade muttered, "I do... Jiraiya told me about it before. But... why do you have the Rinnegan?"
It made no sense. How could Riku possess such a power? Wasn’t it something only granted to those connected to the Sage of Six Paths?
And his eyes were clearly different from Nagato’s.
But it was unmistakable—Riku had the Rinnegan. And he had confirmed it himself.
After a pause, Riku replied, "It’s an evolution of the Sharingan... but it’s incredibly rare. Very few people can awaken it."
He didn’t mention that, under normal circumstances, one needed both the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and the body of a Sage—specifically, the combined chakra of Indra and Asura—to awaken the Rinnegan.
Even then, it usually took near-death circumstances, as in the case of Madara Uchiha.
Riku’s Rinnegan, however, was a complete anomaly. It should never have existed.
He had no known ties to the Ōtsutsuki bloodline, and yet he bore a pair of divine eyes.
Tsunade stared at him, struggling to find the words. "These eyes... they’re beyond what any shinobi should possess."
The energy backlash alone had blasted her back hundreds of meters and caused significant damage. If not for the isolated area in the mountains behind the village, the blast would’ve alarmed the entire Hidden Leaf.
Riku thought for a moment before saying, "Honestly... they probably shouldn’t exist. I think my chakra simply became too much to contain."
Alarmed, Tsunade quickly examined him. Her eyes widened.
"This chakra... it’s massive! You have more than three times the chakra you had before!"
She looked at him seriously. "This is more than what the Nine Tails has. Are you sure you’re not a tailed beast yourself? I think you’ve even surpassed my grandfather."
Riku smiled faintly. It was true—his chakra had now surpassed even that of Hashirama Senju.
Hashirama’s chakra was once thought to be on par with Naruto’s, combined with the full power of Kurama.
But Riku’s current chakra reserves—more than three times the amount of Nine Tails chakra—were even greater than what Asura, the Sage of Six Paths’ son, was said to possess.
That kind of chakra volume was utterly terrifying.
Among the nine tailed beasts, Kurama had the greatest amount of chakra. The other eight combined barely equaled four times what Kurama possessed.
And yet, Riku alone now contained roughly three times Kurama’s chakra.
In other words, his chakra was dangerously close to the combined chakra of all nine tailed beasts.
Even the Sage of Six Paths hadn’t had that much chakra on his own—his strength came from merging with the Ten Tails.
On pure chakra volume alone, Riku had already surpassed Hashirama and Madara at their peak.
However, he still hadn’t mastered Yin-Yang Release. So, despite his overwhelming chakra, he wasn’t yet at the level of the Sage of Six Paths.
Still, it was clear: he was now stronger than any ninja before him.
