Chapter 100 : Signing The Contract, Summoning Beast Shinya

Riku looked at Shinya and said calmly, "Honestly, I don’t care about the details. I’m only asking you one thing—do you want to be my summoning beast?"

Shinya was still rattled by what Riku had just done. But more than anything, it was Riku’s sheer power that shook him.

If he wanted to, Riku could have killed him outright—no hesitation, no struggle.

This strength wasn’t something even Orochimaru could match.

And yet, Shinya still couldn’t bring himself to trust Riku. Deep down, he believed Riku would eventually abandon him, just like his last summoner had.

Shinya narrowed his gaze, his cold yellow eyes locking onto Riku. His temper had been provoked, but he didn’t let it cloud his judgment.

"If the time comes," he asked, "will you betray me?"

Riku raised his head, staring straight at the massive serpent. "If you mean before a battle," he said seriously, "then yes—I would betray you even more ruthlessly than he did. That’s what it means to be a shinobi."

Shinya seethed. Rage boiled in his chest.

But when he looked into Riku’s eyes—calm, unwavering, and deadly serious—he was struck by something else. That same look... it was just like his former summoner’s. That same cold conviction, the same resolve to discard anything without hesitation.

They stared each other down for a long moment.

"You actually said it," Shinya muttered. "Out loud. Boldly. In that sense, you’re far more honest than he ever was. But what gives you the right to ask me to be your summoning beast?"

Riku smirked. "I don’t have any right. But I can beat the hell out of you—and that’s enough."

Shinya’s jaw twitched. Riku’s bluntness left him speechless.

Even Orochimaru hadn’t dared speak to him this way.

But Riku did have the strength to back it up.

In fact, Riku was already stronger than his previous summoner—and his potential was terrifying. He had clearly surpassed Kage-level already.

And he was only twelve. Thirteen at most.

After a moment’s thought, Shinya nodded slowly. "Very well. I’ll trust you—for now. But don’t let me down. If you do, I’ll never trust a human again."

Riku frowned. "What do you mean by that?"

He didn’t quite understand. He wasn’t sure what Shinya was referring to when he mentioned his former summoner.

Seeing Riku’s confused look, Shinya explained, "I’ll become your summoning beast. But if you ever treat me like he did, I’ll cut ties—not just with you, but with all humans."

Riku blinked, then broke into a grin. "You could’ve just said that from the start. I nearly had to release that technique."

Shinya stared at him. "So you really were about to use that jutsu."

"Your Lightning Style... it’s the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen. I don’t even know how you trained it to that level."

When Riku returned from within Shinya’s inner world, the giant snake’s temperament had noticeably cooled.

Shinya, too, remembered how defiant he’d been when first summoned. It hadn’t been because he feared Riku—but because Riku’s honesty and unshakable calm had left an impression on him.

And of course, there was Riku’s potential. If Riku had been an average ninja, Shinya would’ve devoured him on the spot—without even giving him a chance to speak.

Riku looked at the crackling lightning still swirling around him. With a flick of his hand, the chakra-infused lightning scattered into harmless sparks and vanished into the air.

Shinya exhaled deeply. Even for a creature of his size and power, being surrounded by that level of lightning chakra had put immense pressure on him. Those attacks could have reduced him to nothing.

Riku turned and smiled faintly. "Alright, I’m done here. You can go back now."

Shinya gave him a deadpan stare. "You haven’t even signed the summoning contract with me yet. Where am I supposed to go?"

Riku blinked. "Didn’t I already sign a summoning contract with Ryūchi Cave?"

From a distance, Anko, Jiraiya, and Naruto watched in disbelief.

Riku had actually subdued the giant snake—and not just any snake, but the most violent, uncontrollable one. Even Manda wasn’t half as temperamental as this.

Hearing Riku’s question, Jiraiya stepped forward. "Kid, even if you signed a contract with Ryūchi Cave, that doesn’t automatically include him. Without a personal summoning contract, you’ll only be able to summon random serpents from the cave. The odds of summoning one like Shinya are practically zero."

Riku nodded. "Got it."

Shinya sighed. His master was powerful, no doubt—but still painfully lacking in knowledge about the shinobi world. Then again, he was only twelve.

After a short pause, Shinya opened his jaws and spat out a massive summoning scroll.

Riku’s eye twitched. The scroll was completely coated in thick mucus. "You... that’s disgusting."

Shinya gave him a deadpan look. "You’re really gonna complain? Just sign it already before I lose my patience."

Riku raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Instead of touching it, he released a Water Style technique from his palms to rinse off the slime, then followed it with a Wind Style jutsu to unfurl the scroll.

Shinya could only stare.

"In this respect," the snake muttered, "you’ve got nothing on Orochimaru. He never complained about little things like this."

Riku ignored the comment, wrote his name on the scroll, and pressed a drop of blood onto it.

In that instant, he felt it—the chakra link forming between him and Shinya.

He looked up and smiled. "I’ll be counting on you."

It was the first time he’d truly smiled at Shinya.

Shinya sighed. "Didn’t you want to learn Sage Mode at Ryūchi Cave? With your talent, you’ll master it. You’re far more gifted than Orochimaru ever was."

"If you learn Sage Mode, our teamwork will be on a whole other level."

Riku paused. "Sage Mode, huh? Sounds interesting. But how do I even get to Ryūchi Cave?"

Shinya let out a low chuckle. "Simple. I can summon you back."

Unlike Manda, Shinya didn’t threaten or blackmail his summoner once he had accepted them.

In fact, he didn’t dare try such things with Riku.

Not even Manda would, if faced with someone like him.

Riku turned to Anko. "Sister Anko, I’ll be heading to Ryūchi Cave to train in Sage Mode. I’ll send out a Shadow Clone to handle the Chūnin Exams."

Anko looked concerned. "Ryūchi Cave is dangerous. Be careful."

Riku gave her a reassuring nod. "Don’t worry. No one in this world can trap me. I’ve mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique, remember?"

Anko blinked, then smiled. "Right. I almost forgot about that."

"Then go. You must learn Sage Mode. Orochimaru tried, but he failed."

"But I believe in you. With your talent, you can definitely master it."
