Chapter 168 : Shuriken Clone Technique, A-Level Ninjutsu
Speaking of which, Orochimaru has a feud with the Cloud Shinobi.
Samui frowned. "Why didn’t you mention this had something to do with Orochimaru?"
Riku glanced at her with a smirk. "Don’t get so tense. This guy is just one of Orochimaru’s failed experiments. I know you’ve got a grudge against him, so if I’d said that earlier, you would’ve gone ballistic."
"That wouldn’t have helped the mission."
Samui’s expression turned cold. "You should’ve been clear from the beginning."
Riku smiled but didn’t explain further. He found it amusing to only explain himself once.
After all, Riku was representing Konoha now. It wouldn’t do to antagonize a Jonin from the Hidden Cloud unnecessarily.
Samui seemed aware of that as well. Though she was clearly displeased with Riku for hiding the truth, she restrained herself from lashing out.
Right now, the priority was to eliminate or capture Akita.
"Enough talk. We’re bringing you in today."
"Samui-senpai," Riku said, "Let the two of us handle this. To make up for hiding things earlier, how about this: if I kill him, you take the body. If I don’t, we’ll bring him back alive. Fair?"
Riku wouldn’t have let Samui take Akita if he was still alive—this guy knew too much about Konoha. But if he died, it didn’t matter.
Samui frowned. "Let’s just defeat him first."
Riku nodded. Whether Samui agreed or not, she would end up following his lead. His strength surpassed everyone here.
Of course, Samui didn’t yet realize Riku hadn’t revealed his full power.
Akita looked at the two of them, sneering. "A woman and a little brat want to kill me? What a joke."
He drew a kunai and rushed forward.
Karui and Omoi both unsheathed their blades, ready to engage—but Samui raised a hand to stop them.
"You two aren’t his match. Leave this to us."
Though clearly frustrated, the two obeyed. Samui was their captain, after all.
Riku and Samui exchanged a glance.
Riku smiled faintly. "I can use a sword too."
With a flick of his wrist, a blade appeared in his hand.
Samui’s eyes narrowed. "Space-Time Ninjutsu?"
Riku chuckled. "What are you thinking? It’s just a Summoning Jutsu. Though technically, that is a type of space-time ninjutsu."
Indeed, the Summoning Jutsu is a subclass of space-time ninjutsu.
They nodded to each other—and in the next instant, both charged at Akita.
As they closed in, Riku began weaving hand seals with one hand. "Shadow Clone Jutsu: Dance of the Crescent Moon."
This was Konoha-ryū Kenjutsu— Hayate’s sword technique, taught to Riku by Yugao Uzuki.
Three copies of Riku rushed at Akita.
Akita recognized it instantly. "This is that Hayate’s technique!"
Clang!
Shlk!
In a flash, Akita dispersed one of the clones, but Riku’s blade pierced through him—only for Akita’s body to dissolve into water.
Riku narrowed his eyes. "A Water Clone?"
He’d seen through it, but let it play out for amusement.
Meanwhile, Samui didn’t stop. She appeared before the real Akita and engaged him with her blade.
Riku stayed at her flank, supporting, but didn’t go for the kill immediately.
Under pressure from the two Jonin, Akita began to falter. After retreating several steps, he quickly formed hand seals.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!"
Samui’s eyes narrowed.
She could dodge, but her strength didn’t lie in ninjutsu. Her expertise was kenjutsu.
Earlier, her swordsmanship had clearly overpowered Akita. Given an opening, she could’ve ended him.
But now that he was using ninjutsu, evasion was her best option.
Just as Samui prepared to move, Riku’s voice rang out beside her.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu."
Riku had been making one-handed seals behind Akita—only three of them—executed at lightning speed.
Their jutsu activated simultaneously.
The area was shrouded in mist—perfect for Water Style techniques.
Two dragons of water erupted behind them, clashing in mid-air.
Riku remained composed. Samui glanced at his technique—his water dragon was several dozen meters long, dwarfing Akita’s, which barely reached ten meters.
Boom!
The two dragons collided violently.
Riku’s jutsu overwhelmed Akita’s immediately, shattering it and surging forward with its full power intact.
Akita’s expression darkened. He leapt backward, narrowly escaping the misty battlefield.
Only now did Samui realize the true scale of Riku’s strength.
He released a B-rank jutsu like the Water Dragon Jutsu instantly—and its power was far greater than his opponent’s. This guy... he could really be a Jonin.
Though Riku held the title of Special Jonin, his abilities were far beyond that rank.
Without missing a beat, Riku pulled out two shuriken and hurled them at Akita, who had just regained his footing.
Then he rapidly performed hand seals.
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
In an instant, the two shuriken split into hundreds, turning into a storm of steel light, hurtling toward Akita.
Boom!
The barrage obliterated everything in its path, reducing the area around Akita to rubble.
The Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu was something Riku had studied in the Hokage’s archives. It was originally created by the Third Hokage, but others like Minato and Konohamaru had also mastered it.
Yet Riku’s version was especially potent. The barrage of clones tore through the landscape, pulverizing dozens of meters into scorched craters.
Samui stood frozen in awe.
This guy actually knows that jutsu?
The Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu was an A-rank technique—extremely powerful.
Riku executed it effortlessly, with fast seals and terrifying projectile speed.
When the dust settled, the terrain around Akita was filled with hundreds of pits—many had merged into larger craters.
A massive earthen wall had been summoned in front of Akita, but it now lay in ruins.
Akita himself had taken several cuts from the shuriken. Blood dripped from multiple wounds, but none were fatal.
He glared at Riku.
How the hell does he know the Third Hokage’s jutsu? And he just fired off a massive B-rank jutsu too... Shouldn’t his chakra be depleted?
A normal Jonin would lose nearly 90% of their chakra after firing off just seven or eight B-rank techniques.
But Riku had unleashed one with enhanced power, followed by an A-rank technique—and he didn’t seem the least bit drained.
It made no sense.
