Chapter 120 : Rasengan Is Difficult To Learn, How Can You Learn It After Just Reading It?
Hearing this, Naruto quickly said, "Then let’s go find her! We need to get her to treat Sasuke and Kakashi-sensei right away!"
Jiraiya looked down at Sasuke, a little helpless.
Naruto’s personality really reminded him of his own when he was younger.
Back then, he had actually fallen behind Orochimaru in many ways. Later on, their gap only grew because Orochimaru had devoted himself to forbidden jutsu and experimentation.
Even so, Jiraiya never saw himself as much better.
Guy slung Sasuke onto his back, looked at the three of them, and said, "Then I’ll be waiting for good news back in the village."
As Guy carried Sasuke off, Riku remained calm. Naruto, on the other hand, was visibly agitated. Clearly, this incident had shaken him deeply.
A group of powerful ninja were out to capture him—and even Kage-level shinobi were worried. Naruto’s current strength wasn’t enough to resist.
And now, he felt the urgency like never before. If Jiraiya and Riku weren’t around in the future, he would be completely defenseless.
He didn’t want to rely on others forever.

After that incident, the three resumed their journey.
They walked for over ten days without finding a trace of Tsunade.
Jiraiya, however, didn’t seem the least bit anxious—unaware that back in the village, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane were already starting to panic.
Among Konoha’s Kage-level shinobi, only Danzo remained, and he was clearly maneuvering to become Hokage.
Danzo had full control over Root. If Jiraiya stayed away for too long, no one would be able to stop Danzo from seizing power. And with Konoha weakened, it would be a prime target for other villages.
So, while Jiraiya remained relaxed, the two elders were anything but. Their anxiety grew by the day.
The village had strengthened its defenses.
But Konoha’s strongest remaining ninja were now just Danzo and Kakashi.
Although Danzo was disliked, if he pushed hard enough—and with Jiraiya absent—he might truly succeed in becoming Hokage.
Homura and Koharu knew Danzo well. They didn’t want him in power either.

During their journey, Riku never once asked Jiraiya to teach him ninjutsu. He didn’t seem to care at all.
Naruto, however, pestered Jiraiya constantly.
Eventually, Jiraiya relented and brought both Riku and Naruto to the back mountain near the town where they were staying.
Jiraiya stood in front of them and said, "The Rasengan is an A-rank jutsu. It’s extremely difficult, bordering on forbidden-level, so don’t expect to learn it easily. I’ll explain the principle clearly."
Naruto listened intently, his fists clenched with excitement.
After explaining, Jiraiya said, "Watch closely—I’ll demonstrate."
He raised his hand, and within moments, a swirling Rasengan formed in his palm.
Blue chakra spiraled violently within, yet all the turbulence was locked neatly in place.
Jiraiya noticed Riku watching silently, brows furrowed in thought, and chuckled. "Did you understand that, Riku?"
Riku nodded calmly. "I think I got it."
Jiraiya laughed. "Really now? This jutsu isn’t something you master on your first try, you know. Don’t be surprised if it takes you a while."
It had taken Jiraiya three full days to learn the Rasengan himself—and that was when he was already a Kage-level ninja with vast knowledge and control.
Naruto looked at him eagerly. "Hey, Pervy Sage! Show me how strong it is!"
Jiraiya grinned, turned, and thrust the Rasengan into a large tree.
Boom!
The trunk exploded with a deep, smooth hole left behind. The spiraling impact left a perfectly clean wound, with the grain of the wood twisted in a consistent direction.
He turned back to the boys with a proud smile. "Well? Pretty amazing, right?"
Naruto’s eyes sparkled. "That’s incredible! Pervy Sage, teach me!"
Jiraiya enjoyed the admiration, but Riku remained silent, deep in thought.
Jiraiya turned to him. "Riku, didn’t quite get it? I can go over it again."
But Riku didn’t respond. He simply lifted his hand and calmly gathered chakra.
Jiraiya chuckled, "Take your time, no one expects—"
He didn’t even finish the sentence.
Before his eyes, a perfect Rasengan materialized in Riku’s palm.
Jiraiya’s jaw dropped at the precise chakra rotation and containment.
"This... this... Riku?! How did you master it? How is this even possible?!"
He could hardly believe it. Riku had just watched the jutsu once—and replicated it flawlessly.
When Jiraiya had learned the Rasengan, he had studied hard for three days, despite being vastly more experienced at the time.
But Riku... he’d done it instantly.
Naruto stared in disbelief at the glowing orb in Riku’s hand. "Riku... you actually learned it?"
Without a word, Riku walked over to a tree and pressed the Rasengan into the trunk.
Puff.
Boom...
The explosion left a hole even larger and cleaner than Jiraiya’s.
Riku looked down at his hand and muttered to himself, "This jutsu isn’t that hard."
Behind him, Jiraiya’s expression twitched. "You... I don’t even know what to say. You’re terrifying. When Kakashi taught you, was it the same?"
Riku looked at him calmly. "No."
Jiraiya gave a relieved smile. "Ah, so you built up a strong foundation over the years. That must be it."
But Riku added, "Kakashi-sensei explained the mechanics of the jutsu, demonstrated it, and I learned it."
Kakashi, who had just walked over, paused at the blunt honesty.
Jiraiya twitched again, staring at Riku like he was a monster.
"You... you’re not normal. You’re the scariest genius I’ve ever seen. Even Kakashi and the Fourth Hokage weren’t like this. You actually learned an A-rank technique after watching it once. If others knew, they’d be terrified of you."
"No wonder you’ve already reached near-Kage-level at your age. No wonder you’ve mastered so many techniques. Your talent is even more terrifying than a Sharingan."
"At least the Sharingan can’t copy the Rasengan."
Jiraiya turned, narrowing his eyes slightly. "Was it the same when you learned Chidori?"
Riku thought for a moment, then nodded. "Pretty much."
Naruto stood off to the side, staring at Riku with a mixture of awe and despair.
"...Good thing I gave up on trying to compete with you a while ago. People like Riku... they’re not even human."
