National Guardian's Gone and We're Done

It was as if the viewer had traveled through time, finding themselves amidst that heart-stopping supper.

"And the deity our Dark Holy See believes in is Satan."

Shu Gaolang’s voice suddenly rang out in the silent interrogation room,

and he let out a pair of strange, subconscious chuckles as he spoke.

The sound echoed through the empty space, tinged with a hint of the bizarre and the crazed.

However, when his eyes inadvertently met Chu He’s gaze—as cold and severe as a distant star—

his expression instantly froze. He hurriedly tried to compose himself,

struggling to smooth the twisted features of his face back to normal,

like a startled rabbit before a hunter, trying to conceal its inner panic and fear.

"Satan. He is the incarnation of a Fallen Angel, also known to the world as the devil,

and the arch-culprit who rebelled against the Light God.

Once, he was a glorious Six-winged Angel before the Light God’s throne,

basking in His holy light and enjoying endless glory and reverence.

However, the seeds of ambition quietly sprouted in his heart.

He sought to stand as an equal to the Light God,

and so he led a third of the Angels in a brazen and shocking rebellion.

During the brutal war that followed in the Celestial Realm, the Light God, with His supreme might, ultimately crushed Satan’s rebel forces.

Satan plummeted through the chaotic void, falling for nine long days and nights,

before at last plunging into the endless Hell Abyss.

Afterward, the Light God used His creative power to bring forth a new world and humankind.

But Satan, seeking revenge and a chance to seize this new world, transformed into a cunning serpent and slipped into the Eden Garden.

With honeyed words, he tempted Eve into eating the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.

Then, through Eve, he successfully tempted Adam to commit the same sin of defying the divine command.

And so, just as he had hoped, Satan caused God’s new creations to fall.

The shadows of sin, sickness, and death have shrouded the world ever since, plunging it into endless suffering and strife."

Chu He listened quietly, but his thoughts, like a runaway horse, galloped back to the past.

He recalled a book he had once happened to flip through,

which also contained detailed accounts of Satan.

’Satan, with his proud and untamable spirit, had staunchly refused to submit to the Light God.

’And so he led a third of the Angels to raise the flag of rebellion in the northern reaches of the Celestial Realm.

’The war in the Celestial Realm raged for three days and three nights, a cataclysm that shattered the heavens and caused stars to fall.

’In the end, Satan’s rebel army crumbled under the Light God’s divine might, their defeat as total as a landslide.

’He fell like a meteorite through the chaotic cosmos for nine long days and nights—

’—a merciless judgment delivered by fate.

’It was only upon landing in Hell that his legend of sin and evil truly began.’

Chu He’s brow furrowed slightly, a thoughtful glint in his deep eyes.

At this moment,

he now fully understood the intricate relationship between the Bright Holy See and the Dark Holy See that Shu Gaolang had described.

"What is your Dark Holy See plotting in the shadows?

Those sordid affairs in Xia Shui Village... that wasn’t just you acting on your own, was it?"

Chu He’s voice was as chilling as a blade of ice on a winter night,

piercing straight through Shu Gaolang, his powerful aura seeming to dissect the man’s very soul.

"We are... planning something..."

Shu Gaolang’s body gave a sudden, involuntary shudder, as if he’d been struck by an electric current.

’He was filled with shock and terror. He never expected Chu He to be so perceptive,

’as if the man possessed divine eyes capable of seeing through all the world’s secrets.

’He had seen right through to the deeper reasons hidden behind it all.

’He had deliberately rambled on about Satan and the Light God,

’thinking he could cleverly divert Chu He’s attention,

’and conceal the Dark Holy See’s true objective.

’He wanted so desperately to live,

’but after being steeped in the dark mire of the Dark Holy See for so long,

’his mind had long been eroded and twisted beyond recognition.’

"Planning what?"

Chu He’s tone grew even colder, like a looming iceberg, radiating an immense and oppressive authority.

"To revive and summon the Fallen Angels... and Satan... to descend upon Blue Star.

The Bright Holy See is planning something similar.

They hope to summon and awaken the Light God and the Holy Angels.

For our summons to succeed, we must collect the most potent negative emotions from the mortal world.

That’s why the Dark Holy See sent me and the ’Hanged Man’ to Xia Shui Village.

To torment the villagers of Xia Shui Village for so long..."

With the shadow of death looming over him like a specter,

Shu Gaolang’s mental defenses finally crumbled, and he chose to reveal the whole truth.

"Does your Dark Holy See have other operatives in the Great Xia Empire?"

Chu He pressed, his gaze seemingly able to pierce through any facade.

"Yes.

Nearly all of the Great Xia Empire’s top-ranking cities have our people. We’ve even planted operatives in the Royal City."

Shu Gaolang said, trembling,

a fawning look in his eyes. "If you want the specific addresses, I can tell you everything I know right now."

Chu He gave a slight nod, signaling to a man in a suit waiting outside.

A moment later, the man hurried in with a notebook and a pen,

placing them gently in front of Shu Gaolang.

Shu Gaolang shifted his body with difficulty and picked up the pen with his one remaining hand.

The fingers on that hand were surprisingly nimble,

with one finger moving like a nimble tentacle...
