Chapter 421 - 364: Light God, Satan, the Betrayer, The Last Supper (3)
In her mind, a famous figure like Chu He was supposed to have just such a cold and aloof attitude.
If he were warm and passionate toward her, it would seem out of character.
The group soon arrived at the interrogation room.
The interrogation room was quite spacious, with a full range of facilities.
The prisoner’s restraining chair was in the center, with the interrogator’s seat beside it.
The two were positioned to face one another in a logical layout.
A single glance revealed it had been specially designed for interrogating important prisoners.
With Chu He present,
there was no need to worry about the palm-headed man resisting or escaping.
So the man in the suit simply tossed him into a corner of the room.
The palm-headed man’s body collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud, completely limp.
Chu He slightly raised his hand.
In an instant, a tide of invisible energy surged out from him,
completely enveloping the interrogation room and forming an indestructible barrier.
Seeing this, the man in the suit understood that Chu He was about to begin the private interrogation.
He took the hint and turned to leave,
closing the door behind him.
A glass of water had already been prepared and set on the interrogation room table.
Chu He’s gaze was cold as he picked up the cup of scalding water,
and without hesitation, he splashed it directly in the palm-headed man’s face.
The hot water was like a sharp blade.
The moment it touched the man’s wound-covered face, it triggered a wave of excruciating pain.
The palm-headed man felt as if his wounds were being pierced by a thousand needles at once,
like a taut bowstring suddenly snapping.
The pain engulfed him like a surging tide,
violently yanking him from the dark abyss of unconsciousness.
He gasped heavily for breath, and only after gulping down two lungfuls of air did he manage to compose himself slightly.
As he came to, he instinctively began to look around,
his eyes filled with wariness and confusion as he surveyed the unfamiliar environment.
When his gaze slowly fell upon Chu He,
the palm-headed man’s heart sank into an icy pit. He lamented inwardly, ’So I really didn’t escape from his grasp after all.’
"What is your name?"
Chu He’s face was icy, his voice as bone-chilling as frost. He cut straight to the chase,
giving the man no time to catch his breath. His piercing aura seemed to bore right through to his soul.
"Shu Gaolang."
The palm-headed man paused for a moment, his mind racing before he answered.
His voice trembled, a clear sign he hadn’t fully recovered from the earlier pain and terror.
"I’m interested in the relationship between the Dark Holy See and the Bright Holy See you mentioned.
Tell me about it now."
Chu He took a steady step and slowly sat down in his chair,
his torch-like gaze fixed on the palm-headed man. His tone was calm, but left no room for refusal.
"Do I have a chance to live?"
The palm-headed man, whose name was Shu Gaolang, fell silent upon hearing this.
He was torn by a fierce internal struggle.
On one hand, he was afraid of offending the Dark Holy See if he told the truth.
On the other, he knew that not cooperating with Chu He was a death sentence.
"Depends on my mood."
Chu He said nonchalantly, his expression placid,
as if he were one of the Deities who presided over life and death, casually controlling the fates of others.
Shu Gaolang once again fell into a long silence.
Fine beads of sweat broke out on his forehead, his eyes betraying a hint of despair and helplessness.
Before Shu Gaolang’s very eyes, Chu He slowly held up five fingers.
Shu Gaolang saw this, his mind filled with confusion. He didn’t understand the meaning of the gesture.
Just as he was racking his brain, Chu He’s thumb suddenly folded down against his palm.
Before Shu Gaolang could react,
his index finger also folded down, leaving only three fingers extended.
Shu Gaolang had a sudden realization. ’It’s a countdown to my death!’
He was horrified and scrambled to speak. "The Dark Holy See broke away from the Bright Holy See! You could call it a rebellion.
The founder of the Dark Holy See once held a high position within the Bright Holy See."
He spoke at a frantic pace, terrified that if he were too slow, the countdown would end and so would his life.
At the same time,
Shu Gaolang complained to himself, ’When you’re starting a death countdown for me,
couldn’t you at least give a little warning?
What if I was a little slow on the uptake?
What if I hadn’t figured it out in time? Would I have just died when the countdown ended?
That’s so unfair!’
But complaining was one thing; Shu Gaolang didn’t dare actually say any of this out loud.
After all, Chu He had made it clear
that whether he lived or died depended entirely on Chu He’s mood.
He had no leverage to resist or bargain right now.
"If he held a high position within the Bright Holy See, why leave to become a traitor?
Why go through all the trouble, even risking his life, to create the Dark Holy See?"
Chu He frowned slightly, a hint of doubt and curiosity in his eyes as he pressed on.
"That involves one of the Bright Holy See’s secrets."
Shu Gaolang had already made up his mind.
’I’ve ended up in this miserable state; the Dark Holy See definitely won’t send anyone to save me.
Rather than sit here and wait to die, I might as well take a gamble. Maybe I can still fight for a sliver of a chance.
If I don’t talk, I’m dead for sure anyway. I have no choice.’ He could only steel himself and continue.
"What secret?"
Chu He’s voice was frigid.
"This secret involves an ancient legend of the Bright Holy See.
