Chapter 836: A Wife Belongs Wherever Her Husband Is
In truth, Lin Moyu had never given them a choice.
He was no rookie. In his previous life, he had been a seasoned veteran in every sense of the word.
The only thing he lacked was a strong interest in romance.
Ning Yiyi had been the first, followed by Mo Yun, Shu Han, and Mu Xianxian. None of them escaped.
What was destined to happen would happen sooner or later.
To Lin Moyu, dragging things out was pointless. If something could be settled in a single night, why waste time waiting?
That night, the manor was filled with screams one after another, lasting until noon the next day before things finally quieted down.
The following morning was bright and clear. Warm sunlight bathed the land.
Lin Moyu stepped out, looking thoroughly refreshed.
The four girls followed behind him, walking somewhat unsteadily.
After several soul-deep exchanges, the three women besides Mu Xianxian had finally found their answer.
A wife belonged wherever her husband was.
Now, they only had to wait for Lin Moyu to become world lord. Once he did, he could remove their true soul imprints and take them away with him.
"For the time being, stop dungeon grinding." Lin Moyu instructed.
"Okay!" Mu Xianxian agreed immediately without asking why.
Mo Yun, however, found it puzzling, "Why?"
Lin Moyu explained, "Once your fates are changed, you'll have to walk a completely different path from the one you're on now."
"And the sooner you begin that path, the better."
He didn't elaborate further, but the four girls could roughly understand what he meant.
This was likely the path Lin Moyu himself had taken—the reason he had become so powerful.
They knew it wouldn't be easy. But no matter how difficult it was, they would walk it for the sake of their future.
Mo Yun asked, "Then what should we do in the meantime?"
"You can start exploring your skill space."
All of them came from great families with abundant cultivation resources, so they were well aware of the skill space.
Even Mu Xianxian knew about it.
The Jialan Guild was, after all, a major power in its own right, not much weaker than many great families.
Ning Yiyi blinked in surprise, "Isn't that a little too early?"
Lin Moyu smiled, "Not really. Think of it as preparation. Just start laying the groundwork now. It may be difficult, but it's something you'll eventually have to do anyway."
Discovering one's skill space, locking onto its position, and figuring out a way to open its gate wasn't impossible at level 70—it was simply more challenging.
Lin Moyu himself had already sensed his skill space when he was only level 60.
Suddenly, he turned toward the courtyard entrance.
"We have a guest. Let's go to the reception hall. Have someone prepare tea and pastries."
The girls exchanged puzzled looks.
Why would anyone visit at a time like this?
They were newlyweds. Under normal circumstances, no one would disturb them during the first few days of marriage.
Unless something had happened.
The empire had been meticulous. Along with gifting the manor to Lin Moyu, it had assigned servants to handle the daily needs of him and his companions.
However, Lin Moyu disliked being disturbed, so all outsiders were forbidden from entering the rear courtyard.
In the reception hall, he met the guest.
Lilian was dressed in a pale-yellow gown. Moving with graceful elegance, she approached at an unhurried pace.
Lin Moyu wasn't surprised in the slightest that she could enter the Human World.
Over the past thousand years, Lilian had accomplished countless feats and prepared numerous contingencies. If she couldn't even enter the Human World, all those preparations would have been meaningless.
For her, it was never a question of capability—only whether she wished to come.
The moment she appeared, everyone present was struck by her beauty.
Ning Yiyi's eyes lit up, "Wow, this big sister is gorgeous."
Even Mo Yun couldn't hide a trace of envy.
Lilian possessed the kind of beauty that captivated both men and women alike. Anyone who saw her couldn't help but admire her.
What made her even more extraordinary was the aura she carried—a subtle but undeniable authority born from centuries of standing at the pinnacle of power. It was something ordinary people could never hope to possess.
Shu Han admired her as well, though she was equally bewildered.
She had never heard of such a stunning woman before.
More importantly, Lilian's strength was clearly far beyond theirs.
Lin Moyu said, "A guest is a guest. Why not sit down, have some tea, and enjoy some pastries?"
Lilian's gaze swept across the room, "I have no interest in human tea. I prefer Dragon Blood Wine."
Lin Moyu didn't mind, "Is everything settled?"
Lilian tossed him an Abyssal Stone, "Everything you asked for is inside. What happened this time won't remain hidden for long. It may become troublesome for me to return here again, so I hope you'll move faster."
Lin Moyu naturally understood her meaning, "Don't worry."
Lilian's eyes shifted to Ning Yiyi and the others, "Are they your wives?"
Lin Moyu gave a simple nod, with no intention of introducing them.
Lilian nodded in return, "They're all very beautiful. Just don't let beauty become a trap you can't escape."
"You're overstepping. Mind your own business." Lin Moyu replied coldly.
Lilian snorted, "I always do."
With that, she turned and left, disappearing from sight in moments.
Only after she was gone did Ning Yiyi ask, "Husband, who was that? She's so beautiful—I've never seen anyone that beautiful before."
Mo Yun frowned, "There's something strange about that woman."
Mu Xianxian nodded, "She gave me a very dangerous feeling."
Lin Moyu gripped the Abyssal Stone. Soul force rippled outward, silently enveloping the entire hall and sealing off all sound.
Once the hall fell silent, he finally spoke, "Her name is Lilian. You may not recognize the name, but you know her title: Demon Emperor."
Everyone froze in shock.
Ning Yiyi let out an exaggerated cry, "She's the Demon Emperor? And the Demon Emperor is a woman?"
Mo Yun stared in disbelief, "How can the Demon Emperor look just like us… and be that beautiful?"
None of them doubted Lin Moyu's words. They were simply astonished.
A faint smile appeared on his face as he took in their reactions.
"The Demon Emperor is half-human. However, she's not descended from the humans of our world, but from the humans of the greater world."
Shu Han asked, "Husband, are you cooperating with the Demon Emperor?"
There was concern in her voice.
The humans and the Abyss Demons were mortal enemies.
Any contact with the Demons could be considered treason against humanity.
Given Lin Moyu's status, any association with the Abyss Demons could destroy his reputation.
Prompted by Shu Han's question, Ning Yiyi, Mo Yun, and Mu Xianxian grew anxious as well.
"Don't worry. The teachers know about my cooperation with the Demon Emperor."
"Your grandfathers probably know too."
Lin Moyu then explained the entire arrangement between himself and the Demon Emperor.
The four girls listened in a constant state of astonishment. None of them had expected such a situation.
Shu Han said, "Then hasn't the Demon Emperor actually helped humanity?"
Lin Moyu shook his head, "Not exactly. Everything she did was ultimately for her own survival. There are favors and there are grudges. At best, they cancel each other out."
"Regardless, our cooperation this time is meant to settle the Abyss Demon problem once and for all."
With the truth laid bare, Ning Yiyi and the others finally relaxed.
Lin Moyu turned his attention to the Abyssal Stone Lilian had delivered. It contained detailed records of her interrogation of the Demons.
As resurrected, they obeyed Lin Moyu unconditionally.
Whatever Lilian asked, they answered without reservation.
That continued until she began questioning them about the internal affairs of the Abyss Demons.
