Chapter 886: Instant Kills; Different From Dummies
A mechanical voice rang out, completely devoid of emotion.
Lin Moyu suspected it was intentional. Otherwise, even puppets should possess some trace of emotion.
"The first round of the second stage: kill the enemy before you or survive for thirty minutes."
That was all. No further explanation was given.
The instant the announcement ended, the battle began.
A half-man, half-horse other race expert wreathed in flames charged toward him, wielding spears.
He moved with astonishing speed, streaking across the starry sky like a blazing meteor.
Despite his incredible momentum, his aura was completely concealed, making it impossible to judge his strength.
Even so, Lin Moyu immediately sensed his soul being locked onto.
His Deathwings unfurled, instantly severing the soul lock as he shot backward, widening the distance.
At the same time, he cast Detection.
Using Detection before every battle had long since become instinct.
He didn't know whether people from other worlds did the same, but in his own small world, there was a saying: When in doubt, use Detection.
The spell quickly returned its results.
[Centaur]
[Realm: Transcendent God]
[Trait: extremely fast and adept at manipulating the laws of fire. Beware of the hooves.]
Lin Moyu immediately noticed that Detection had changed.
After entering the greater world and undergoing the baptism of its laws, the spell itself had subtly changed.
The change was difficult to describe; something only its caster could truly perceive.
From an outside perspective, Detection no longer generated the faint breeze it once had. Instead, it seemed to act directly upon its target, almost identical to a soul lock.
Whether this was an actual change or simply an effect of being inside the Human Emperor Network's virtual world, Lin Moyu couldn't tell.
Detection also no longer displayed an opponent's exact tier, revealing only that the Centaur was in the Transcendent God realm.
As Lin Moyu dodged, the Centaur's spear smashed into the spot where he had been standing.
The surrounding space exploded as a violent surge of law force erupted.
The Centaur had perfectly concealed his aura during the charge, releasing it only at the instant his attack landed.
This greatly increased the attack's destructive power while making it far more difficult to defend against.
Lin Moyu's expression grew serious.
"This isn't a training dummy, nor is it some monster."
"The other races possess combat abilities every bit as formidable as humanity's."
"I can't afford to let my guard down."
He silently reminded himself not to become complacent simply because his defense could dominate most Transcendent Gods
Judging from that strike alone, the Centaur's offensive power was roughly at the 1st tier Transcendent God realm. His speed, however, was significantly greater, likely comparable to 2nd tier.
Detection's assessment had been accurate.
After evading the first attack, Lin Moyu had no intention of prolonging the fight.
This was an assessment. Time was precious.
With a flick of his finger, the Undeath World descended upon the starry sky.
The Undead Eye opened, and its gaze locked onto the Centaur.
A tremendous soul attack descended without warning.
Before the Centaur could launch a second attack, he was instantly annihilated.
His agonized scream echoed through the void before his death.
The Human Emperor Network's simulations were astonishingly lifelike. Even the agony of the soul could be perfectly reproduced.
The Centaur's twisted expression of despair before he perished looked completely real.
"The first round of the second stage passed."
"The second round will begin in ten minutes. Please prepare."
The emotionless mechanical voice sounded once again.
Lin Moyu estimated that the next opponent would likely be a 2nd tier Transcendent God realm other race expert.
If the difficulty increased one tier per round, he was confident he could clear well over a dozen of them.
Even if his opponent reached the 9th tier Transcendent God realm, killing him would still be impossible.
And even if he couldn't defeat the enemy, surviving for thirty minutes would still count as passing.
The only uncertainty was whether the Human Emperor Network could replicate his Comprehensive Rebirth talent.
After all, that talent was simply too outrageous.
It could resurrect not only his body but even his soul, restoring his entire soul world even after total destruction.
In all of Antares's countless years of life, he had never encountered such an absurd talent.
Ten minutes passed, and the second round began.
"The second round of the second stage: kill the enemy before you, or survive for thirty minutes.”
A clump of weeds appeared before him.
At first glance, they looked no different from ordinary weeds, aside from being larger and thicker, their roots extending into the void.
Lin Moyu immediately cast Detection again.
[Star Grass]
[Realm: Transcendent God]
[Trait: possesses extraordinary vitality, can conceal itself within the void, and is extremely difficult to kill.]
An old saying surfaced in Lin Moyu's mind: "Wildfires cannot burn them all; they rise again with the spring breeze.”
Plant-type species, like plant-type monsters, were renowned for their incredible vitality. Unfortunately for the Star Grass, vitality meant little against soul-type attacks.
Before it could make a move, the Undead Eye locked onto it.
A gray-white mist swirled within the eye as the law of undeath merged into the attack, dramatically amplifying its power.
The Star Grass died before it could even attack.
From start to finish, the battle lasted less than a second.
Even if the Star Grass could hide its seeds within the void to preserve a final trace of life, once its soul had been annihilated, survival was impossible.
The soul was the foundation of every living being, regardless of race and species.
"The second round of the second stage passed. The third round will commence in ten minutes. Please prepare yourself."
The emotionless voice echoed once more.
"The next opponent should be a 3rd tier Transcendent God realm expert."
"Undead Gaze combined with Time Curse should be enough to kill it instantly. Skeletal Divine Warriors empowered by the law of undeath would also work.”
After a moment's thought, he chose the simplest approach.
A thousand undead appeared around him. Infused with the law of undeath and strengthened by the Lich General's buffs, each possessed combat power comparable to a 3rd tier Transcendent God expert.
With them around, Lin Moyu could simply take a break.
Ten minutes later, the next opponent appeared—an other race expert at the 3rd Transcendent God realm.
The instant the round began, the undead surged forward.
A storm of attacks imbued with the destructive aura of the law of undeath engulfed the opponent.
Instant kill.
Another battle ended without the slightest suspense.
The fourth round followed shortly afterward.
This time, Lin Moyu summoned the Death Dragon Knights, the undead army's second-strongest unit.
A thousand Death Dragon Knights unleashed torrents of Dragon breath, instantly reducing the opponent to nothing.
For the fifth round, he deployed the Skeletal Divine Generals.
Unlike the previous rounds, he couldn't achieve an instant kill.
Instead, a thousand Skeletal Divine Generals surrounded the enemy and bombarded it relentlessly.
After more than ten seconds of continuous attacks, the opponent finally fell.
The first five rounds were passed without issue.
To Lin Moyu, it hardly mattered whether the opponent could move or not.
Every opponent met the same fate—either killed instantly or overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
Only in the sixth round did he encounter something resembling resistance.
[Starry Sky Python]
[Realm: Transcendent God]
[Trait: possesses exceptionally high resistance to both elemental and physical laws.]
The sixth opponent was a colossal python more than six thousand meters long.
Its enormous body coiled through the starry sky, radiating tremendous pressure.
Lin Moyu, however, remained completely unfazed.
Size alone did not determine strength.
Everything had two sides.
A larger body naturally possessed greater destructive power, but it also presented a much larger target.
With a thought, ten thousand Skeletal Divine Generals and ten thousand Death Dragon Knights materialized across the starry sky.
They charged forward, completely surrounding the Starry Sky Python before launching an all-out assault.
The python fought back furiously.
Its massive body whipped through space with terrifying force, repeatedly sending Skeletal Divine Generals flying.
Yet despite its overwhelming strength, it could not kill them.
Pinned down by the coordinated attacks of the Skeletal Divine Generals and the Death Dragon Knights, the Starry Sky Python was unable to reach Lin Moyu.
Meanwhile, Lin Moyu continuously channeled the law of undeath.
Filled with the aura of death, the law of undeath relentlessly eroded the python's massive body.
