Chapter 829: I Wasn’t Raised To Be Easily Frightened.
Lin Moyu was multitasking, keeping a sliver of his attention fixed on Lin Mohan at all times.
Not the slightest change escaped his notice.
So when she chose the exact moment he was busiest to slip away quietly, he noticed immediately.
His expression shifted. Standing beside him, Ning Yiyi caught it at once.
"What's wrong?"
Lin Moyu lowered his voice, "Yiyi, something's come up. I need to step out for a while."
"Go. We've got everything under control here." Ning Yiyi replied without asking questions.
She understood him well enough to know some things didn't need explaining.
Shu Han nodded, "Don't worry. Leave things to us."
Having overcome her initial shyness, she had gradually regained the composed demeanor of a dependable upperclassman. Her presence was warm and comforting, like sunlight on a spring morning.
Lin Moyu nodded, "I'll be back as soon as I can."
After briefly informing Meng Anwen and the others, he silently disappeared from the venue.
Deathwings unfurled behind him, and he shot off in the direction Lin Mohan had gone.
…
Lin Mohan never looked back.
Her speed increased steadily as she flew farther and farther away.
In mere moments, she had crossed a thousand kilometers, leaving the mainland behind.
Below stretched an endless expanse of ocean.
"You can come out now." She said in a low voice.
Multicolored rays descended from the sky, illuminating a hundred-kilometer radius in dazzling, dreamlike hues.
A voice echoed from within the radiance, "Have you finished your business?"
Lin Mohan raised her head, revealing her graceful swan-like neck, "Before I leave, I have one question."
"Speak."
"Can I come back in the future?"
It was the question she cared about most.
If she left for the greater world, would she ever be able to return?
The answer came immediately, cold and indifferent.
"Of course you can return. But what would be the point?"
"By the time you possess the strength to do so, more than a thousand years will likely have passed. Everyone here will have long since turned to dust."
"It would be meaningless."
More than a thousand years… everything and everyone she knew would be gone.
If one could never leave this world, then even reaching the Transcendent God realm held little meaning. Experts at that level could only live for five hundred years.
The stronger one became, the longer one's lifespan.
Lin Mohan pressed on, "Then can't you take a few more people with us?"
"There is no point. The people of this world possess poor talent and insufficient aptitude. Taking them away would accomplish nothing."
The decisive refusal extinguished her final hope.
"Heh. Sounds more like you simply don't have the ability."
A soul-echo reverberated through heaven and earth.
Lin Moyu appeared beside Lin Mohan without warning.
She stared at him in surprise, "Little Brother? Why are you here?"
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "I should be asking you that. How could you keep something this important from me?"
Lin Mohan sighed helplessly, "Some things wouldn't change even if I told you."
Lin Moyu disagreed, "How would you know if you never tried?"
Then he lifted his gaze toward the source of light in the sky, "Who exactly are you?"
"I retract what I said earlier. Your talent is exceptional. You have a chance of entering the greater world."
Perhaps because Lin Moyu's talent was simply too extraordinary, the other party's tone softened slightly.
A trace of coldness entered Lin Moyu's voice, "You want to take my sister away, yet you won't even show your face. What kind of cowardly behavior is that?"
In truth, he understood perfectly well that anyone capable of taking someone out of a small world possessed strength far beyond his own.
But if this being expected him to grovel because of that, they were mistaken.
The person they wanted to take away was his sister.
Without understanding the reason, the risks, or the consequences, how could he possibly agree?
Still, Lin Moyu wasn't acting recklessly.
From those few brief exchanges alone, he had already extracted a great deal of information.
The mysterious being clearly had a specific reason for seeking Lin Mohan. They had even said she might return a thousand years later.
That alone suggested there was no malice toward her.
And for Lin Mohan to survive for a thousand years, she would need to reach at least the True God realm.
After piecing everything together, a rough conclusion formed in Lin Moyu's mind.
It might not be entirely accurate, but it couldn't be far from the truth.
And with that deduction as his foundation, he knew exactly what to do next.
"Kid, if I manifested here, this world would likely collapse."
Lin Moyu chuckled, "Then it seems you're not strong enough. You can't even create a projection."
A flicker of worry crossed Lin Mohan's face. She knew how terrifying the other party was and feared Lin Moyu's words would provoke them.
But Lin Moyu merely gave her a reassuring look.
"You… I simply can't be bothered with such trivialities."
The multicolored light trembled. The being was clearly irritated.
The swirling radiance intertwined and condensed rapidly, forming a human figure in midair.
Though only a projection, she stood like a divine sword piercing heaven and earth.
Powerful sword intent radiated from the projection.
Every gesture, every movement, every word carried a razor-sharp edge.
Strikingly, that sharp aura felt remarkably similar to Lin Mohan's.
It wasn't just the aura. Their appearances were roughly thirty percent alike.
Both possessed extraordinary beauty, but the woman also carried an imposing majesty—the unmistakable bearing of someone who had stood at the pinnacle for countless years.
Lin Moyu immediately concluded that she cultivated a sword-type law and had reached an astonishingly profound level of mastery.
Once the projection manifested, her voice changed as well. Gone was the genderless, mechanical tone. In its place emerged her true voice.
"Do you realize that if we were in the greater world, I would have cut you down thousands of times for your insolence?"
A trace of killing intent accompanied her words, locking onto Lin Moyu.
He remained completely unfazed.
"As you said, that would be in the greater world. Right now, you're trying to take my sister from this small world. Naturally, you need my permission first."
Her expression turned cold, "Your permission? What do you think you are?"
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "The same as you. I am human."
"You…" The woman froze.
She had questioned his strength, yet he answered with his identity.
For a moment, she found herself speechless.
Lin Moyu continued calmly, "Whoever you are, tell me your name, where you're taking my sister, and why. Otherwise…"
He took a deep breath, his voice firm and unwavering, "Otherwise, you're not taking her anywhere."
The woman laughed coldly.
Her laughter transformed into countless strands of sword qi that spiraled through the air.
The sword qi condensed into countless swords, all subtly pointing at Lin Moyu.
He could clearly sense her terrifying power.
Even as a mere projection, she possessed the ability to kill him.
She was definitely beyond the True God realm.
A God King?
Or perhaps something even greater?
Instinctively, Lin Mohan stepped forward to shield him. Lin Moyu immediately pulled her behind him.
Without changing expression, he said, "Stop trying to scare me. I wasn't raised to be easily frightened. Answer my questions."
The sword qi continued to churn, but none of it descended.
The woman’s expression shifted several times before finally softening as she looked toward Lin Mohan.
"For the sake of the bond between you siblings, I shall forgive your insolence."
"I come from the greater world. My title is Sword Lily, and I stand in the God Sovereign realm. Today, I have come to accept Lin Mohan as my personal disciple."
She had already realized that unless she dealt with Lin Moyu, taking Lin Mohan away peacefully would be impossible.
But because she genuinely wished to accept Lin Mohan as her disciple, she couldn't simply kill him.
Otherwise, her future disciple would never acknowledge her.
Lin Moyu chuckled, "Now that's more like it. Very impressive. But how do I know you're telling the truth?"
"You… With my status, why would I need to deceive you?" God Sovereign Sword Lily nearly laughed from sheer frustration.
Had she not truly wanted Lin Mohan as a disciple, she would have long since erased this kid's soul with a single sword strike.
Yet she couldn't help finding it strange.
Where did this kid get the confidence to speak to her like this?
Even God Kings in the greater world wouldn't dare speak to her this way.
"Who knows?" Lin Moyu replied casually.
The answer immediately pushed God Sovereign Sword Lily's anger to the brink.
"Courting death!"
Sword qi erupted, shredding the sky like a tattered cloth.
Just as God Sovereign Sword Lily was about to lose her temper entirely, Lin Moyu smiled.
"It doesn't matter. I have a way to verify your claims."
