Chapter 826: Higher-Ranking Demons Are About to Descend
The world will possessed no self-awareness. It operated purely on instinct.
While dormant, everything functioned according to established rules.
Since Lin Moyu had offered it world force, those same rules dictated that it should return the favor.
Its gift was a sliver of world origin.
Corpse Explosion was a planet-grade law art with a fusion rate of only 20%.
Advancing it further would have been extraordinarily difficult, requiring special opportunities.
Advancing to God-level counted as one such opportunity.
Guided by the world origin, the law art's fusion rate finally began to rise.
Ordinarily, when a human class user advanced to God-level, their law art planets would receive a significant enhancement.
However, most of Lin Moyu's law arts had already evolved into star-grade law arts, reaching the limit permitted by this small world's rules. There was simply no room left for improvement.
Only three law arts still retained growth potential: Damage Transfer, Corpse Explosion, and Summon Skeletal King.
This time, the sliver of world origin settled upon Corpse Explosion. Combined with Lin Moyu's soul force, it pushed the law art's fusion rate from 20% to 40%.
[Corpse Explosion (40% fusion rate): detonate a corpse or remains and deal 40% of the corpse’s health before death as damage to designated targets within a radius of 400 meters.]
Both its damage and range had increased.
Yet the increase itself wasn't the most important gain. More significant was the goodwill Lin Moyu had earned from the world will—a factor that would prove invaluable for his next objective.
For most people, advancing to God-level required several days.
For Lin Moyu, it took less than an hour.
The upper limit of this small world's rules was simply too low, while his strength had already reached an overwhelming level. There was almost nothing left for him to improve.
As a result, his breakthrough concluded astonishingly quickly.
Soon, the world returned to tranquility.
Only then did God-level powerhouses across the world finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Moments earlier, they had all felt an indescribably oppressive pressure, so immense that it left them struggling to breathe.
The source of that pressure had been the world will itself.
When Lin Moyu offered the world force, the world will briefly awakened, and the pressure released during that moment had affected every living being.
"Lin Moyu." Lilian's voice suddenly rang out.
Her voice was unique—clear and melodious, yet carrying an innate majesty.
Lin Moyu had remembered it ever since hearing it for the first time.
He retrieved the Abyss Stone the Demon Emperor had given him.
The stone glowed brightly, projecting the Lilian's stunning figure.
"What is it?" Lin Moyu asked.
He wasn't sure why she had contacted him so suddenly.
In the projection, Lilian's expression was unusually serious.
"Have you reached God-level?"
Lin Moyu frowned slightly, "How did you know?"
His first thought was that the Demon Emperor still had spies among the human race.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
Even the humans didn't know about his breakthrough yet.
He was currently alone in the middle of the ocean. There was no way anyone could have reported it.
Then how had she found out?
Lilian replied softly, "The world will briefly awakened just now, and it affected the Abyss as well."
Understanding dawned on him.
The Abyssal World was merely a fragment world attached to the small world—a parasite sustained by it. Naturally, any movement from the small world's will would affect it.
Noticing his displeased expression, Lilian explained, "You don't need to hide it. I mean no harm."
Lin Moyu did not conceal the truth, "I have indeed advanced to God-level. Is that why you contacted me? If so, don't worry. Our cooperation still stands."
Lilian seemed relieved, "Shortly after the world will awakened, something happened on my side as well."
"What happened?"
"The Demon lineage I belong to—higher-ranking Demons sent a message. They may descend here.”
“Descend here? You mean actual Demons are coming”
Though the thought crossed his mind, his expression remained calm.
Now that he understood the world's governing laws, he wasn't overly concerned.
Even if the Demons descended, they would be limited to the Transcendent God-level.
Furthermore, they could only arrive in the deep layer. From there, they would need to locate the connection to the Abyss before reaching the Abyssal World.
And the deep layer was anything but safe.
A single mistake could cost them their lives.
Transcendent God-level monsters roamed its depths. Beyond that, they might encounter other races or stumble upon dangers left behind by the ancient great war.
Seeing Lin Moyu's calm expression, Lilian asked, "Aren't you worried at all? The higher-ranked Demons are at least Transcendent God-level."
"Will worrying change anything?" Lin Moyu replied with a faint smile before his tone abruptly shifted, "Besides, you're more worried about yourself."
Lilian's expression immediately changed . He had seen straight through her.
She was indeed worried about herself. As a hybrid of human and Demon blood, she belonged nowhere.
If her true lineage were exposed, neither side would spare her.
She had no confidence in concealing her bloodline from higher-ranking Demons.
Most of her anxiety stemmed from that fact, yet Lin Moyu had exposed it with a single sentence.
Lilian said heavily, "You're right. I am worried."
"There's another problem. Once they arrive, my authority will disappear. When that happens, they'll command every Abyssal Demon to launch an assault on humanity."
"Of course, with that great being here, humanity won't be wiped out, but massive casualties are inevitable."
"You don't want that either, do you?"
Lin Moyu knew she was telling the truth.
Humanity would survive, but the losses would be severe.
The Shenxia people had only recently emerged from disaster, and reconstruction had barely begun.
Another catastrophe was the last thing they needed.
At the same time, a question lingered in his mind.
Why now?
Why had the higher-ranked Demons chosen this exact moment to descend after waiting so long?
He voiced his doubts.
Lilian replied, "The world will has just awakened. Its awakening activated a hidden barrier deep within the Abyssal World."
"Even I didn't know it existed."
"If the world will fully awakens, their invasion will officially fail. That's why they're rushing to descend now—to make one final attempt."
Lin Moyu chuckled softly, "Ignorance truly breeds fearlessness. If they'd known the truth about this world from the beginning, they probably would have given up long ago."
Had the higher-ranking Demons known how complicated this world truly was, or that an existence like Antares resided here, they never would have sent a fragment world in the first place.
Fragment worlds were incredibly difficult to obtain.
For any race, they were both powerful weapons and invaluable strategic assets.
Deploying one always carried enormous stakes.
This invasion had already consumed far too much time.
If the world will had remained dormant, the Demons might have been willing to wait a few more centuries.
Their lifespans were long enough that such a delay meant little.
But now that the world will had awakened, the invasion could fail completely, and they might even lose a fragment world.
The Demons were unwilling to accept that loss.
As soon as they received the news, they decided to descend and ordered the Demon Emperor to prepare for their arrival in the Abyss World.
Lin Moyu had already guessed the Demon Emperor's intentions.
At this point, only two options remained.
The first was for him to become world lord before the higher-ranked Demons arrived, fully revive the world will, and allow it to devour the fragment world.
Once that happened, the invasion would be truly over, and there would be no reason for the higher-ranked Demons to descend.
The second was to intercept them and prevent their descent from succeeding.
As for killing them outright, Lilian hadn't even considered the possibility.
She knew the opponents were at least Transcendent God-level. Against such beings, she stood no chance.
After a moment of thought, Lin Moyu slowly asked, "When will they descend?"
