And the aunt's gasping.

There was a similar sound at the door of Deron's room, but Benjamin was sure that the low male voice was definitely not from Deron.

Benjamin opened the door in surprise, and now he is grateful that he is at his relatives' house. They don't have a housekeeper to guard the house.
