Episode 44: Newbie Adventurer Lent and Practice Exam Overview

"… the practical exam will… work with other exams to reach the designated point of the labyrinth. You will compete with other students, so it is better to arrive early and win."

That's what Shayla said, so I snort.

I remember a long time ago, when I took it, it was about putting away a designated herb or something like that.

I thought it would be that easy before I took it, but when I did, it was harsh there where I had to defeat quite a few demons and not lose sight of my place even in the deep woods in order to get to where the herbs were growing.

In fact, I went back and didn't have this, so much so that some of them were later recovered by the Adventurers' Union (Alliance)...

Of course, that kind of guy fell all over the place.

It sounds really easy to say that's what the exam was told about this time.

The labyrinth has decided on the demons to emerge, and if you buy the roads and maps, you'll soon find out the shortest distance...

No, you might not even say that considering it's an exam an iron-class adventurer takes.

Adventurers' Union (Guild) has a slightly worse personality.

"... right? Is there something wrong with you?

Shayla smiled softly at the question she asked if there was such a thing as not being able to buy a map, or proceeding only with this directions,

"... nothing in particular. Whatever you do (...) is fine."

I replied.

I learned to get hooked on that way of saying it.

Must be planting a lot of things.

It's only by avoiding that kind of thing that you can get your pass.

"Ok... who am I, kiddo, bokusha?

"Uh... oh, you'll be there. Mr. Rise! Mr. Laura!

That's how Shayla shouted, calling two adventurers from a herd of exam takers who were on the first floor of the Adventurers Union (Guild).

Then comes the boy and the girl.

On those two faces, I thought, oh, no.

Because it looks familiar.

But these are the two guys who worked hard the other day at The Labyrinth of the Crescent Moon.

Swordsman boy and healer girl.

I predicted then that it would be iron or copper, but it still seemed so.

I'm being tested, which means nothing more than being iron-grade.

"This is Rise Danner and Laura Satti. So... this is Lent Vivier."

Shayla introduces me to them and me to them.

Rise and Laura.

Rise's was a noticeably energetic boy with short cut red hair, and Laura's was a light-haired girl with thin purple hair that seemed to pull in a little bit.

The two people who were called names looked at me and bowed their heads, so I would do the same.

Apparently we were able to confirm that we knew the minimum of courtesy for each other, and we were relieved.

Sometimes adventurers have a guy who's not even busy, and there's always an idiot like that who never bows his head in an attempt to demonstrate his strength even in these places.

When I look around, I see people saying that.

... I'm sure those guys will fall.

That attitude alone makes me think so, so stupid.

but I don't talk about it.

It would be more important for us to know each other now than that.

Whatever, we dive into the labyrinth together.

If you don't know anything, that could be your life.

"I am, Ken. I can only grasp Shinjutsu and Shiru..."

If I say so, so is Rise and Laura.

"... I'm a swordsman too. I'm fighting for my strength. So, this is..."

"I'm a magician...... I can also use healing techniques, so I'll work hard as a guard. Nice to meet you, Mr. Lent."

and explained to me what I could do.

Looking at us like that, Shayla said,

"Now that we've met face to face, let's take a look at the description of the exam."

That's what I said, so we tighten our faces.

Missing this explanation could save your life later.

We listen with clarity.

"As already explained, you will reach the designated point of the labyrinth. The designated points will be here. May I?

That being said, Shayla gave out a map of the Labyrinth of the Crescent Moon, and made one point of it.

Then,

"I'll give you this map, so please take advantage of it. That's basically all. If you arrive early, you will win."

To this, Rise and Laura nod.

I... don't think I'm going to catch anything, but I kept my mouth shut for now.

"The deadline will be until sundown, so just be careful with that. Okay, exams, good luck with that. We're here for you."

That's what Shayla laughed at.

◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇

"So we head to the Labyrinth of the Crescent Moon first? As usual, in the carriage... Lent, you've been there too, haven't you?

That's what Rise's been asking me, so I snort.

Apparently, he buys the leader of this group to come out.

As far as I'm concerned, I've just been doing this solo all my life, and I've decided to leave it to you that it's not the pattern of a leader, and it looks just fine.

If you need anything, I'll give you a mouthful, but if you don't have a problem, I'm going to keep quiet.

I'll take the carriage, that won't be a problem.

Probably.

In fact, the carriage to the Labyrinth of the Crescent Moon, which is out of Malt, usually reached the Labyrinth.

I was staring at you, thinking about the possibility of being taken elsewhere on the way, and I was laughed at bitterly, but I just can't laugh at it this way because if I hadn't seen it, it might have really been done.

Rise and Laura weren't worried about anything, but, well, naturally.

Anyone would initially think that I wouldn't do something like this trigger problem.

But it's the Adventurers' Union that does it.

I know that.

Upon reaching the labyrinth, Rys and Laura were about to dive right into the labyrinth.

Still not bad, but I opened my mouth because I had one problem.

"... both"

"What the hell, Lent?

"What's wrong, Mr. Lent?

To the two of you who leaned your neck in my voice, I say.

"... Chizu, it's better to"

Then they looked surprised, and then they took the map paid for from their nostalgia,

"No, you have a map, don't you?

"Right...... why don't we see this"

say.

But I shake my head.

"... this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this. It doesn't take long..."

"What... Oh, it's true! Why is it written so small on such a tip!

Look at the year of issue that Rise stares at the map and states in small letters at the end of it, and it goes bad.

In fact, a labyrinth is not immovable.

The interior breaks down and the roads often change.

That said, that span is a long one, like ten or twenty years old, but I still don't trust the map from fifteen years ago.

You should keep it up to date.

Well, I have The Map of Acacia, so if you look at it, you don't ultimately have to have another map or anything, but the difficulty would be that it doesn't state where you haven't walked yet.

Unfortunately, the directions to the designated point are not yet on my map.

So it's best to buy it.

"But who do I buy it from..."

Rise tilts his neck.

There are plenty of people selling labyrinth maps, but it's actually hard to determine whose maps are trustworthy.

But I glanced around the labyrinth for a moment and told them that I would discover one person.

"... from him."

To the person I pointed out, they frowned.

"... wow isn't that suspicious?

"To see, it's suspicious..."

That's what I said.

I don't even know how that feels. But I don't.

I was pointing to a man in a black robe with an atmosphere like no other.

My mouth, which I can only see a little, was strangely distorted and smiling, and the atmosphere seemed to me like I was going to say I should sell some dangerous drugs even now.

... Well, it's not what I could have said either.

I mean, these two treat me fine, but I wonder if that doesn't work.

Anyway, I'm headed straight for the guy.

I thought the two of you didn't seem to like it, so you followed me.
