Lesson 530: Stacked Challenges and Reconstruction

"... you've been busy a long time"

After I defeated the Skeletons, the boners in the village, I kept an eye on them overnight so that no more boners would come into the village from outside.

In the meantime, Ribble and Jillis, the village chief, had gone to tell the towns and villages where the villagers of this village were evacuating that the bones had been swept from the village, but at night, even around noon, Ribble and Jillis returned.

And to my surprise, they weren't the only ones who came back, but the villagers who originally lived in this village, but also the evacuated villagers who cried.

Of course, not all of them came back at once, most of them young men, their wives, etc. who would become workers, and there were no children, old people, etc., but they said they were planning to gradually return as soon as they were about to rebuild the village.

Still, it was the word of Jillis, the village chief, that there would be others who would not return after living in the other towns and villages where they had evacuated, but still the majority would probably return, a story that felt the strength of attachment to the villages of these villagers.

Now I'm helping to make the village simple but I'm rebuilding it.

Even so, it's really easy, to the extent of fixing the broken part of the fence that covers the area around the village, or collecting the broken walls and roofs of the house in one place and dividing them into usable and unusable ones.

By the end of the day, the villagers who came back for now seem to be able to sleep where the roof is, and that would be a relief.

"... and this is all thanks to Mr. Lent"

That's what Ribble, who together would have been part of the wall of some house, carrying the board to the square, the center of the village, said to me.

"Because it's work...... and the rebuilding of this village will be coming. It doesn't seem like an easy road, but still this many villagers are coming back. Sounds like you can handle it."

So far, does it feel like there are about twenty people coming back to the village?

We're only back about a quarter because it's supposed to be a village of about eighty people in all, but we're talking about more tomorrow.

It is difficult for everyone to return to the boulder in a day or two, and it is surprising in itself that a quarter of humans came today yesterday.

Most of them will come back, because this is a convincing story that it's not a lie.

"Fortunately, few houses seem to have been heavily broken, and the fields haven't been vandalized. I think I can handle it enough. Was it less damaging because, after all, there was only a boner?

"I guess so. If the demons of the werewolf lineage were the subject, the fields would have been wiped out, and if there were a lot of goblins and slimes, I guess the house would have almost collapsed"

Many of the demons that strike these human villages are around.

There are many things in the wolf lineage, but humans themselves are eaten to do so basically to get food, but what is fruitful in the fields is also rooted out.

The Goblin system is similar, because it takes away food and, in addition, strips away and takes the materials that make up the house to set up their own dwellings, so if it is occupied, it is rarely destroyed from village to village.

The slime system doesn't have a robbery-like concept that said so, but it melts and eats anything, so instead of fields, houses and everything can be tummy and wasteland.

They are all like natural enemies to humans, and that is why humankind has come to this day with the skill to fight them.

Dragons and chimailas would be more dangerous than those guys, you might think, but big guys like that have their own territory, and it's normal to rarely get out of that.

It was rather the so-called trinkets, such as goblins, who had been arguing with humans for a long time for a place to live.

And that's why humanity can still exist.

Because if dragons and Kimyra had been attacked like every day, how could mankind have been easily extinct...

Humanity, which now also has the art of being able to fight such a big man, but long ago naturally, it should not have been, and has only managed to survive with poor physical abilities and brains a little better than other animals.

Humanity is basically a weak creature...

"I knew it...... Sometimes, I hear stories like that around here. You must have been lucky you didn't."

That's what Ribble said, so I answer.

"Well, I can certainly say that in that sense...... Ribble was having difficulty hiring adventurers in Malt, and I feel like he was unlucky in time"

"No, Mr. Lent took it on after all, and I knew I was lucky. Besides, I really don't need to help you with this, but you're doing it..."

This means you're helping to rebuild the village.

It's certainly not in the request, so maybe I should just hang around at the village chief's house or something.

But I'm not going to do that.

I say.

"No, this is part of my job, too."

"Huh?"

"I did take down all the boners that were here, but I think it's not all over yet... there's a good chance that the boners will come here again. Village protection should be consolidated for then."

"... there were more boners than I asked for the first time... I'm pretty sure they came from the outside."

"That's the thing. Then, of course, there's a source somewhere... and we have to crush it there. But I only have one body. While I was searching for it, the village was occupied by boners again, because if anything happens, I can't even see it. I just wanted to make sure it didn't happen."

"Can you be so concerned...?

"That's right. What are you crusading demons for? It's for the libbles to live here. And yet it makes no sense if the libbles can no longer live... let's do our best not to."

"... Yes!
