Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha

Episode 551: A pile of challenges and a suspicious alchemist.

"... I see you had a lot going on in Crope too"

That's what Lorraine said as she carried the dish on the plate to her mouth.

Since then, when I last heard about Crope, I've been asked, and I've bought some ingredients for dinner, but Lorraine still seems to have been busy analyzing the cup, and it's mostly late at night.

The time slot of dinner has passed considerably too, but I came down from my room apparently having a paragraph of work, so I replied that I would eat it if I asked if I was going to eat it now, so I cooked quickly, and now the two of us are getting a rather late dinner.

Lorraine is quite a healthy family now, she rarely eats as thin as she is, and she holds enough in her belly to wonder where she is at the slender waist of eating anything.

As opposed to me, I was not originally eating that much in bulk, but now it is difficult to get a full belly in a normal meal, and therefore I can continue eating as much as I want to.

If I take blood, my stomach swells, but I don't taste that much, and I want to eat a normal meal to some extent, so I try to eat well.

"Well, I don't know what to say, but there's not going to be a lot of good blacksmiths coming from the outside and staying in malts or anything. If anything happens, it's natural."

"Sure. I know this is where I originally came from, but it's also a place where an armored blacksmith dares to choose to stand up from now on... maybe not what I could have said."

Is it true that Lorraine thinks so?

How dare you choose the countryside for malt, even though you would have the ability to gain considerable status and fame as a researcher if you worked properly in the city......

Perhaps the border city of Mult is a strange place.

It has the odd gravitational pull of attracting one unusual person after another.

I guess I'm at the center of that. Given the oddity of a girl named Laura Latour, I wonder what it might feel like if anything else.

I wonder why that vampire clan is based here, too.

I don't want to stand out after all, so is it something like that?

That's what vampires think first, and it's not strange... but I don't think anything has to be malt.

It's not like I can even think about it.

"It's like a country like me coming to fly a flag..."

Lorraine had a subtle expression when I said she looked smug.

"You're quite a weirdo with you though..."

I thought so too because I said so.

"Yeah, yeah, Lorraine"

"What?

"For once, the research seems to have come to a close, but did you figure out anything about that cup in the end?

"Oh, that. If I say I understand, I understand, and if I say I don't..."

"What do you mean?

"First the basic performance, but it turns out to be interesting. That cup is still not a normal cup. It seems to have the effect of gathering certain starchy magic."

"When it comes to certain precipitated magic..."

There are also many things in the starch of magic.

You think there's a lot of demons gathered in one place but thus the magic mixes and distorts like a tornado, such as attribute bias or instantaneous influx of magic into one place because of the use of locally powerful magic?

But I don't think Lorraine is talking about that kind of magic starch in general, but only about magic starches of some nature.

Lorraine explains my words.

"It's the one that's most familiar to us. I mean, when you defeat a demon, it's the starch of magic that appears on the spot. It's the nature of collecting it in one piece..."

"Heh... sounds interesting, but what's the point of doing that?

"I can't say for sure because I haven't been able to experiment yet that I don't know the first thing from there... but I can largely imagine"

"Like what?"

"I know I can do the same thing with this cup. I mean, I thought it might be a tool that could do the same thing artificially and quite efficiently."

"What is that?

"Don't you see? The starch of magic that appears when demons are defeated. Being able to gather unstable magic into oneself that is no longer defined as anyone's..."

Lorraine's strong gaze turns to me.

So I guessed.

"... Me, huh?

"Well, that's the thing. Perhaps I should say Demon General more precisely...... However, efficiency varies greatly, but it is the same for people to be able to absorb demonic powers and powers by defeating demons. I mean, technically, it's a product that pushes the nature of a creature into a tool."

"Ha ha... I see. I see the effect. But how do you use that? You know, if you had it, it would increase the efficiency of absorption of magic when you defeat demons?

"I don't know about that unless I try it because I haven't tried it yet... but I think it would be interesting to say so. For once, Adele will be catching a few smaller slimes from the sewer tomorrow. I'm thinking of experimenting with it."

"... hey, are you gonna let that slime have a cup?

"That's right. So I'm going to let it fight and measure and observe whether magic flows into the winner, how efficient is it if it does, etc."

"... hey, me, I thought, does that mean that magic is efficiently poured into demons... it makes it easier to" Evolve Being "?

"Oh, you guessed a lot. If that's what it does to that cup... that's likely to happen."

"Isn't that dangerous?

"Even if it's dangerous. But any experiment is dangerous. For fear, there is no progress for mankind."

I recall being so assured and speaking of which Lorraine was essentially a mad alchemist.

It's useless to say.

And... well, I don't know how much that is, but I would have adopted about the minimum safety measures.

We should also do enough to totally destroy every cup when it really sucks.

So no problem...... right?

Thinking about tomorrow's experiment, it was me who got all sorts of anxiety as I saw Lorraine, whose eyes were completely gone.
