Chapter 1168 - 1164: Self-Deception

Clown Quinn’s reaction made Igor completely puzzled.

Could it be that their true form isn’t their strongest state? If that’s the case, why does everyone in the Star Circus go all out to reveal their true form? Is this a kind of deception?

This concern isn’t unfounded. Now, the outside world is full of powerful beings, and very few people understand what kind of power these rising forces have. Everything is a mess without any pattern to follow; it seems like everything has changed. What used to make sense no longer holds true, and scholars are overwhelmed. It’s all the fault of the Alchemy Workshop; if it weren’t for their conflict with Black Crow, maybe the world wouldn’t have become this chaotic.

The boundary between adventurers with class and non-adventurers has been dismantled so abruptly, catching everyone off guard.

Now, traditional adventurers with class have no advantage; their powers seem ordinary in front of those non-adventurers who have gained power.

Just take this clown before us, even though his skills were broken, each move is extraordinarily rare.

Igor and Kadi dare not be careless, constantly waiting for Clown Quinn’s next move.

However, this Clown Quinn is indeed defeated. He no longer moves, hanging his head like a defeated individual.

"It seems he’s really at a loss against you!" Igor said to Kadi.

"Didn’t you say they still have some true form that hasn’t been revealed?"

"The circus leader and the elite are indeed like that. I don’t know why this guy won’t revert to his true form." Igor scratched his head, genuinely clueless this time, feeling like Kadi thought he was lying.

"But he..." Kadi was also a bit confused.

"He’s struggling!" At this moment, Kruz spoke up again.

It’s worth mentioning that Kadi’s flame attack was thanks to Kruz. Although Kruz interrupted Kadi’s realization rhythm at the time, he also bought time for Kadi. Restarting the rhythm realization might seem troublesome, but feeling the rhythm is much easier when undisturbed.

Kadi realized the energy between these individual formations formed by the myriad phenomena while Kruz and Clown Quinn argued about what a clown truly means. It was what made Kadi realize that his flame could burn away these energy entities.

Kadi didn’t know that the flame was devouring these energies, and after devouring them, the flame grew larger.

Now none of that matters anymore because Clown Quinn is no longer the arrogant Clown Quinn from before. The current Clown Quinn is like a shy girl, speechless.

Strangely enough, these guys were so arrogant and verbose before, but now they are all silent, mute-like.

This left Igor and Kadi quite puzzled, but Kruz seemed to know Quinn well.

"He’s struggling whether or not to revert to that state, the one you mentioned."

"Hmm?" Igor and Kadi awaited Kruz’s next explanation with curiosity.

They never understood how Kruz knew these things.

Kruz said he could resonate with Clown Quinn in a way that failed to provide Igor and the others with understanding.

Now, Igor could only attribute this phenomenon to the Craftsman Spirit.

"He’s struggling because he doesn’t want to face that self!" Kruz continued to explain.

"Humph! That’s really strange. Didn’t he say before that it didn’t matter who he was, that power was the most important thing? Now that reverting to his true form can grant him greater power, isn’t that what they’ve always dreamed of?"

Igor erupted suddenly, finding it unbelievable.

This Clown Quinn had earlier spoke so much, sharing his thoughts and experiences, are they all invalid in the end?

If that’s the case, what was the purpose of saying so much before?

Why exactly does he want to do this?

All of these are questions that troubled Igor, and he couldn’t understand what these people ultimately wanted to express!

"He doesn’t want to face that failed self, he doesn’t want to be that self, he wants to forget it, he enjoys his current identity!"

"But what about power!" Igor reminded him.

Quinn didn’t even hear Igor’s voice. At this moment, just as Kruz said, he was struggling with whether to return. He felt like his current identity was the one he liked, that the power was sufficient to command so many people, and his true form had long been forgotten, with the only impression being that it was a failure.

He didn’t want to return to that state!

But if he doesn’t return, he’ll eventually be devoured by this flame, and he’s caught in indecision...

"He doesn’t want to face that self, the one he already forgot."

"So everything he said before about gaining power and then being worthy of becoming himself is all false?" Igor asked, highly interested in this matter.

"That’s just them deceiving themselves," Kruz sighed.

"But sometimes I think there’s a certain logic to it."

"There’s no logic at all, it’s pure selfishness. The true self isn’t like that; everyone needs to persist in being themselves but not fully compromising with themselves. We all have many inertial tendencies and bad qualities. If we solely follow our every whim, then living becomes harmful!"

Igor was stunned. He felt there was some depth to this statement.

"We need to look in the mirror every day, check if our hair is messy, if our clothes are dirty; mirrors remind us not to solely rely on our consciousness to act!"

Kruz’s words left Igor dumbfounded.

"They are blinded by power, using this self-deceiving rhetoric to barely convince themselves."

"But why didn’t you just refute him earlier?" Igor curiously asked, beginning to slowly grasp what Kruz meant.

"It’s not that I didn’t refute, it’s because he wouldn’t listen!" Kruz said.

"But... I, I can listen!" Igor said.

"This..." Kruz didn’t expect Igor to say that. He couldn’t resonate with Igor, so he couldn’t explain further.

"Alright, alright, I understand now." Igor waved his hand, suggesting they control this guy first, discussing other matters later.

Kadi looked puzzled; just what did Igor understand!

Clown Quinn was held under Kadi’s control. Although Kadi didn’t understand what Igor had comprehended, he agreed with Igor’s decision. They controlled the clown, and then notify Guru Mountain and Luona; their gains this time were indeed not small.
