Chapter 429: I’m Taking Her Away Today!
Ji Baiming stomped his foot, and layers of massive waves spread out across the sky.
The ocean waves stretched outward continuously, forming a barrier in the air that separated the Peace Force troops on the colorful clouds from the Ji family on the ground.
These surging, turbulent waves contained immense power, blasting open the war drum barrier that had sealed off the Ji family’s ancestral land. Many Peace Force soldiers beating the drums were caught in the blast, some coughing up blood and falling from the sky.
A large crowd that had gathered at the edge of the barrier to watch the Ji family’s spectacle was also swept up by the waves. No matter how they struggled, they couldn’t break free, like ordinary people drowning. They could only resort to holding their breath to keep from drowning.
“Such powerful law power—it’s nearing the limit of an Immortal Lord!”
“This Ji Baiming is at least an eight-stage Immortal Lord! He’s been hiding deep all this time! Everyone thought he was only at three stages!”
“If Ji Baiming keeps cultivating, he might even reach for Immortal King!”
Ji Baiming controlled a single wave, using it to lift himself and Ji Wuqing up into midair.
“Dad? You...”
Ji Baiming smiled.
“Your dad’s no talent—just an eight-stage Immortal Lord.”
Ji Wuqing broke into a grin too.
“That’s my dad!”
Immortal Lord Jin Hai’s voice was ice-cold.
“Ji Baiming, so you’ve been hiding your cultivation level all along. Very well... I sentence you—guilty!”
Ji Baiming was no longer the family head of the Ji clan now. The meek, deferential aura he had worn moments ago vanished completely, replaced by unbridled freedom.
“Then I’d like to ask, what crime exactly have I committed?”
Immortal Lord Jin Hai activated his law power once more, and countless threads of interpersonal connection wrapped around Ji Baiming and Ji Wuqing.
“For nothing more than suspicion!”
“This is your true face!”
“Say one more word, and the Ji family will share your guilt!”
Ji Baiming unleashed his Raging Waves Soaring Clouds law, and the tides grew even more violent, like an angry man’s exploding hair.
“Fine! I’m guilty! If you want me to submit to the law, come and try!”
As the two Immortal Lords clashed in their arcane battle, the Ji family members and the various factions watching from afar scattered like startled birds and beasts, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.
The Interpersonal Index clashed with the Raging Waves Soaring Clouds. Countless threads writhed like flood dragons in the churning waves, churning up the winds and clouds.
“Boom, rumble...”
Inside the Ji Family Ancestral Land, even though protective formations had been activated everywhere and numerous cultivators stood guard, the faint residual power leaking from the clash of the two laws still shattered a massive number of buildings.
Unprotected areas were directly crushed by the unfathomable force, sinking into depressions.
Ji Wuqing had just broken through, her Immortal power still weak. She desperately wanted to help her father, but what she could do was extremely limited. Threads of interpersonal connection shot out from her body, materializing into tangible force that wrapped around her tightly, suppressing her Immortal power fluctuations.
“Ji Baiming! A single stage difference between Immortal Lords is like the distance between clouds and mud! You’re no match for me!”
Ji Baiming’s law power was inherently less flexible and powerful than Jin Hai’s in a one-on-one fight, and he was a full stage lower in cultivation as well.
Not long into the battle, Ji Baiming’s law power began to collapse. The interpersonal threads shooting out from Ji Baiming’s body wrapped around him and kept tightening.
“Dad!!”
Ji Wuqing could see that Immortal Lord Jin Hai was after her father’s life.
“Foolish child, get out of here now! Do you want your dad to throw away his life for nothing?”
“Dad... Jin Hai! What I did has nothing to do with my father! Let him go! Whatever information you want, I’ll give it to you!”
Immortal Lord Jin Hai sneered coldly.
“Do you take me for a fool? You little slippery one, the moment you’re in my hands, you’ll go back on your word and find a chance to kill yourself.”
The threads on Ji Baiming’s body had already cut into his flesh, covering him in blood—a gruesome, pitiful sight.
Immortal Lord Jin Hai sat on his four-wheeled war chariot, propping his chin on one hand, watching Ji Baiming on the verge of collapse with a leisurely, amused expression.
“Ji Baiming, see that? You’re about to die, and not a single person from the family you devoted your entire life to dares to save you. Tsk, tsk, tsk... This is the rotten root of the Human Race. You’ve always been this way since ancient times. No wonder all the races look down on you now!”
The Ji family members hung their heads in shame, dead silent.
The newly appointed family head, Ji Xiaori, shouted loudly at his clansmen.
“Ji Baiming and Ji Wuqing have nothing to do with our Ji family anymore! Anyone who dares to act on their own to save them, I, as family head, will expel them from the Ji Clan!”
Ji Baiming felt deeply gratified.
“Xiaori, well done...”
The Ji family’s cowardly submission, coupled with Ji Xiaori’s obsequious, filial piety-abandoning attitude, actually left Immortal Lord Jin Hai with little leverage to exploit.
If the Peace Bureau truly wanted to destroy the Ji family, they could do so without any excuse at all. But doing it that way would be a one-time deal.
If they tried to use this method to deal with other threats in the future, it would easily stir up public outrage.
The myriad races of the universe were not a monolithic block. The races other than humans were far from united in heart.
If those powerful races got a hold of a handle like that, the Holy Dragon Clan wouldn’t necessarily remain the race standing above all others.
As the deputy director of the Peace Bureau, Immortal Lord Jin Hai certainly wouldn’t dirty his own hands with arrests.
“What are the Moke Three Brothers waiting for? Don’t you want to seal Ji Wuqing up? Aren’t you afraid she’ll comprehend something else in her desperate state?”
These three Transcendent Realm cultivators had just been beaten by Ji Wuqing. Hearing Immortal Lord Jin Hai’s words, cold sweat instantly poured down their faces.
“The Immortal Lord speaks true!”
The three Dragon-Man generals each grabbed one corner of a bronze iron net and flew toward Ji Wuqing.
Ji Wuqing watched as the huge net gradually approached her, a resolve to die forming in her heart.
She could not allow herself to fall into the hands of the Peace Bureau.
Even if she could withstand torture and say nothing, they had means of soul-searching.
Her father saw the look of death in his daughter’s eyes, and his heart felt as if it were being cut with knives.
“Fading Moon...”
“Dad, your daughter is unfilial...”
Ji Wuqing took one last look at Ancient Cloud Mountain. There was someone there she had frozen in place.
“In the afterlife... I hope I meet you before her...”
At this critical moment of life and death, Ji Wuqing saw a flash of white light pierce through Ancient Cloud Mountain, illuminating half the sky, before it suddenly slammed into the bronze net above her head.
“Boom!!”
This sealing Spiritual Treasure had poor resistance by nature, and it was blasted to pieces by the white light.
The three Transcendent Realm cultivators hadn’t even reacted, because by the time they saw the light, the attack had already arrived.
In the sky not far away, a figure approached like a ghost, now near, now far, flickering and indistinct. Though there was clearly only one person, it looked like many were walking over.
A few breaths later, a handsome young man appeared at Ji Wuqing’s side. He looked no more than eighteen years old.
When his eyes turned toward the sea of alien races in the sky, the fury and killing intent radiating from him made every single alien’s spine run cold.
The three generals pointed at the newcomer and roared.
“Who are you! Trying to obstruct the law? Looking to die?”
“Want me to kill your dad, my good big boy?”
“Bastard! You’re here to save Ji Wuqing, aren’t you? You’re in cahoots with her!”
“That’s right! Today, I’m taking her away! Who dares to stop me? Who can stop me!!”
