Only I am Venerable

Chapter 438 - 434: Lengqiu Palace’s Revenge

A group of people dressed in simple linen walked the streets of Yellow Sand City. Most of them had unremarkable faces, but their eyes were another matter. At first glance, they seemed ordinary, but a closer look revealed them to be as brilliant and captivating as the stars in a clear night sky!

There were about a dozen of them, old and young, all men.

However, a group like this didn’t attract much attention. Yellow Sand City was currently overflowing with all sorts of people, many of whom were far stranger. As a result, no one paid this party any mind.

In Yellow Sand New City, they found a small inn. The inn only had about twenty rooms, and the group booked all of them.

They then retired to their respective rooms to rest. Three of them, however, entered the same room. Once inside, the trio exchanged a look before sweeping the area with their Divine Sense. After confirming there were no eavesdroppers, they sat down together in a circle.

The eldest of the three was a man in his twilight years, appearing extremely ancient, but his eyes still glittered with light.

Another was a clean-shaven, slightly portly man in his fifties. The corners of his mouth were perpetually upturned, making him look like a smiling tiger and giving him a rather sinister air.

The youngest was a red-faced man in his forties. His complexion was so ruddy it looked like he had been drinking, and his short hair stood on end.

The ancient elder blinked hard a few times, and a strange scene unfolded. As he did, the starlike glimmer in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by... pupils of pure purple!

The other two men did the same, blinking hard until their pupils also turned purple.

Purple Eyes!

The Purple-eyed People had finally come to Yellow Sand City. This group, which had arrived from the Outer Realm during the Late Ancient Times, had developed and propagated over countless years, eventually becoming a part of the Celestial Essence Continent.

However, all pure-blooded Purple-eyed People carried an innate legacy in their very bones: they did not belong to this world. Their goal was to kill all the powerful experts of this world and seize control of this entire planet, a planet with resources so abundant they were almost unbelievable!

In truth, Purple-eyed People with truly pure bloodlines were almost nonexistent in the present day. Only a dozen or so remained, and each one was an existence on par with an Emperor!

They were the ones to whom the entire Purple-eyed Race owed unconditional loyalty!

As for this elder and his companions, their bloodlines were not one hundred percent pure. But compared to the likes of Ma Wuchang, who was killed by Qin Li years ago, these men were still beings of incomparable nobility!

These men were high-ranking figures from Lengqiu Palace, a major Sect from the Land of the Far West.

Through countless years of evolution, the vast majority of Purple-eyed People with purer bloodlines had developed a new ability: they could change their pupils!

The Purple-eyed Race called this skill Star Eyes. When used by a woman, it made her even more alluring!

But there was a prerequisite for using Star Eyes: the Purple-eyed bloodline had to constitute more than seventy percent of their total bloodline. In other words, Purple-eyed Descendants with less than seventy percent purity could not do what these men had just done.

Within the clans of the Purple-eyed People, the hierarchical system was extremely strict. Status was not determined by strength but was based entirely on the purity of one’s Purple-eyed bloodline!

Of course, the purer the Purple-eyed bloodline, the more of the legacy one would inherit, and the stronger one would become.

Although the Celestial Essence Continent had developed much over the years and was no longer what it once was, the Purple-eyed People had never forgotten one thing: to exterminate the native Martial Artists of this world!

And the masterpiece created by those tens of thousands of Space Great Mages back then was something that all Purple-eyed People loathed!

The problem was, none of them knew the location of the core of that world-shaking Grand Array. The appearance of the Ancient Divine Temple, however, made them sense that something was different.

Unlike those who came here seeking treasure, the Purple-eyed People had come purely to see if this suddenly-appeared Divine Temple had any connection to the protracted war of the past, or to the formation of the Mysterious Lands!

After all, in this world, there were only a few truly incomprehensible places, and the Ancient Divine Temple was one of them!

Moreover, they had another mission on this trip: to track down the disciples the Sect had sent out years ago. Back then, someone had discovered a large Mysterious Land in the East, and Lengqiu Palace had promptly dispatched four people, sending them to the East using a Void Crossing Array.

Many years had passed, and those four Outer Disciples had vanished without a trace, much to the fury of Lengqiu Palace’s upper echelons. It was nearly impossible for someone with Purple-eyed blood to turn traitor. Therefore, if they had gone silent, the only possibility was that they were dead!

But which of the feeble Martial Artists of the East could have so easily annihilated them all? Now, these three men already knew who had murdered the disciples of Lengqiu Palace.

A few months ago, they had followed a map left behind by Lengqiu Palace into that Mysterious Land, and it hadn’t taken them much effort to find the cause of what happened.

Everything was connected to one person—Qin Li!

The group immediately rushed to Fengsha City, only to find the Qin Family reduced to a handful of disciples. The one called Qin Li had already taken the bulk of his clansmen and left Profound Island a year prior, disappearing without a trace.

The group didn’t make things difficult for the remaining Qin Family disciples. They didn’t want to alert their true target. Since Qin Li was capable of killing Outer Disciples from Lengqiu Palace, it meant he possessed considerable strength and likely had an unfathomable power backing him.

This was all information that the Lengqiu Palace higher-ups had uncovered. Qin Li’s name was famous throughout Profound Island; finding this out wasn’t difficult.

The problem now facing this group of Purple-eyed People was that Qin Li had left no trail. No one knew how he had managed to hide such a massive family so completely, without leaving a single clue for the outside world.

The ancient elder, sitting in the seat of honor, said in a low voice, "According to what we’ve heard, this Qin Li is exceedingly cunning. Since he’s fled with his entire family, it will be very difficult to find him anytime soon. Therefore, we should shift our focus to the Divine Temple for now!"

The portly elder nodded and said hatefully, "I can’t believe how useless those disciples were. A plan a century in the making, completely ruined by some young brat! He even let Qin Li get his hands on the Cui Family’s Ancient Map! What trash!"

The ancient elder sighed. "The Cui Family was also quite cunning, keeping the fact that they had an Ancient Map a complete secret. Otherwise, we would have certainly obtained it. Let’s put this matter aside for now. We can’t let it interfere with the main purpose of our trip!"

The red-faced, middle-aged man, who had been silent until now, spoke up with a furious expression. "Why put it aside? We have two objectives on this trip! First, to find out what happened to those Outer Disciples and avenge them if they were killed! Have you forgotten the creed of the Purple-eyed People? Second is to investigate whether that Ancient Divine Temple is related to the Ancient Grand Array that controls the Mysterious Lands. So, my opinion is that we should find Qin Li first and exterminate his entire clan! We can’t even open the gates of the Ancient Divine Temple, so what’s the point of talking about investigating it?"

"Don’t talk nonsense! Who has forgotten the creed of the Purple-eyed People?" the portly elder said with a frown. "Qin Li’s whereabouts are unknown. Where are we supposed to find him?"

The red-faced man sneered. "The City Lord of this Yellow Sand New City, Hu, is Qin Li’s brother! Everyone in Yellow Sand City knows this!"

"Is that so?" The ancient elder looked at the red-faced man with some surprise.

The red-faced man said with another sneer, "You two have always looked down on worldly people, so of course you wouldn’t pay attention to such matters. If you just bother to listen and ask around a little, you can learn a lot!"

"Then what you’re suggesting is..." The portly elder looked at the red-faced man.

"My meaning is simple. We kill Hu and his entire household. Then we spread the word that we did it, and that Qin Li was the reason. We’ll wait here. I refuse to believe Qin Li won’t come to answer the challenge!"

"And what if he doesn’t come?" the portly elder asked.

"He will come!" the red-faced man declared loudly. "I’ve studied this man’s history. He is extremely protective of those around him. If we kill his brother’s entire family, do you think he won’t seek revenge for his brother?"

The ancient elder thought for a moment, then nodded. "Indeed. Based on the stories of his deeds, I’ve also made some deductions about Qin Li’s temperament. It is just as Fifth Elder says—he is a man who fiercely protects his own."

The portly elder considered it but still offered a different perspective. "Our Purple-eyed People have remained hidden for many years. Even in the Land of the Far West, we have always managed to deceive the other families and Sects. We must not expose ourselves over something like this! Given our status, we should think twice before doing something like slaughtering a commoner’s family!"

"Hmph! Those major Sects in the Land of the Far West, they all act benevolent and magnanimous on the surface, but which one of them hasn’t secretly wiped out a clan to seize its treasures?" the red-faced man said with disdain. "Ninth Elder, if you’re afraid, you don’t have to participate!"

The portly elder shot the red-faced man a glare and cursed, "Bullshit! I’m not afraid!"

"If you’re not afraid, then what are you hesitating for? So what if Yellow Sand City has attracted a lot of people from the Land of the Far West? They’re nothing but a bunch of clay chickens and pottery dogs—utterly worthless and unable to withstand a single blow!" The red-faced man’s words sent the ancient elder into deep thought.

It was true. In the Land of the Far West, Lengqiu Palace was considered a famous, major Sect. Although it couldn’t compare to a great Sect like Moon Shaking Immortal Palace, its strength was by no means weak.

Not to mention, they were backed by a dozen or so pure-blooded, Emperor Level Purple-eyed People! They were the true hope for the entire Purple-eyed Race!

As long as they existed, there was hope for the resurgence of the Purple-eyed People!
