Chapter 485 - 481: Boundless Radiance
"In that case, there’s no point in talking. Let’s fight!" Hai Yufeng declared. His form flashed, and in the next moment, he appeared in the sky outside.
Elder Yongchun glanced at Mingyue Ascendant and the other ancestors of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace, stating coolly, "If you aren’t afraid of the disgrace, then by all means, feel free to oppose me."
With that, her form also flickered, and she vanished from where she stood.
"What’s that supposed to mean!" an ancestor of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace exclaimed indignantly.
They had already lost a great deal of face over the incident with Han Mei. Now, with this business involving Qin Li, their resentment toward Elder Yongchun deepened. However, they all knew that if Yongchun were defeated today, it would be a loss for the entire Moon Shaking Immortal Palace!
So, regardless of how displeased they were, they all came out to back Yongchun up. They did it not for her, but for the honor of the entire Moon Shaking Immortal Palace.
But no matter how they looked at it, they couldn’t stand the sight of this Qin Li.
While Yongchun was out and before Qin Li had left, one of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace’s ancestors turned to Qin Li and said coldly, "If you know what’s good for you, get the hell out of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace on your own accord! Don’t think you’re safe just because Yongchun is protecting you. This isn’t over! Once we’ve dealt with the Hai Family, we’ll be back to settle our score with you!
With that, her form flickered and she, too, vanished into thin air.
A cold sneer touched Qin Li’s lips. ’Who the hell do you think you are?’ he thought. ’In a one-on-one fight, I could finish you in fifty moves! Do you really think you’re some Great Power of this era? No wonder Yongchun always had you under her thumb. A person like you would get walked all over even if you reached the Earth Immortal realm!’
The members of the Hai Family scrambled to leave. As Hai Jinzun passed by Qin Li, he let out a cold, mocking laugh.
"Are you an idiot?" Qin Li shot back immediately. "What are you laughing at? If you want to eat shit, go to the latrine!"
"Qin Li, you just wait!" Hai Jinzun’s face flushed red with anger. He shot Qin Li a vicious glare, then flicked his sleeves and stormed off.
Finally, only Mingyue Ascendant, Elder Hu, Elder Mo, and a few others remained in the grand hall. Mingyue Ascendant sighed softly, gave Qin Li a complicated look, then also rose and departed.
After all, Han Mei had been her favorite disciple, and Mingyue Ascendant was fiercely protective of her own. If Yongchun hadn’t pressed the issue so relentlessly today, she would have tried to sweep it under the rug.
What Mingyue Ascendant hadn’t expected was Han Mei’s fiery temperament. She had left at a moment’s notice, without a single look back. Therefore, even though Mingyue Ascendant knew on a rational level that Yongchun Ancestor had done the right thing—a personality like Han Mei’s was indeed unsuitable for becoming the Sect Leader Venerable of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace.
She was far too narrow-minded. This wasn’t the kind of flaw that would change with age or experience; it would only grow more severe. It could never be truly changed, only hidden away!
A hidden flaw like that was the true danger. But on an emotional level, Mingyue Ascendant still had trouble accepting this outcome. As a result, her feelings toward Qin Li were extremely complex and conflicted.
After Mingyue Ascendant had also left, Elder Hu smiled at Qin Li and discreetly gave him a thumbs-up.
Qin Li smiled faintly and followed them outside.
「Outside, in mid-air.」
Elder Yongchun and Hai Yufeng of the Hai Family faced off against each other.
Hai Yufeng remained empty-handed, an air of nonchalance about him. He smiled and asked, "Yongchun, you just asked what I would do if I lost. It would be rude not to return the favor, so... what if *you* lose? Would you let me take Qin Li away?"
"I won’t lose!" Yongchun’s reply was identical to Hai Yufeng’s, her confidence so absolute it was staggering.
"But what if you do? One of us has to win, right?" Hai Yufeng asked patiently.
"If I lose, I lose. Whether you can take Qin Li or not is your problem," Yongchun replied shamelessly.
"Fine, Yongchun. Remember what you said!" For Hai Yufeng, someone like Qin Li wasn’t originally worth his personal attention. His real reason for coming to the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace was, in fact, to see Yongchun.
Years ago, there was a story between him and Yongchun. Back in that era, while Yongchun wasn’t a peerless beauty, her formidable power and her background as part of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace made her a prize sought after by many young prodigies of the Land of the Far West. Hai Yufeng had been one of them.
In fact, in those days, Hai Yufeng and Yongchun were known as the "golden couple," the pair everyone expected to end up together.
At first, it seemed the interest was mutual. But later, for reasons unknown, they had a falling out. The Hai Family even ended up owing Yongchun an enormous favor—though the details of that were a private matter.
However, the fact that they ceased all contact was common knowledge at the time. Many lamented the split, feeling it was a great shame to break up such a perfect pair.
But only those directly involved truly knew the reason why. By now, that history was long since buried.
Hai Yufeng would never have shown up here if he hadn’t heard that a man was living in Elder Yongchun’s private residence. The news had brought him here on a sudden impulse.
Because he was jealous.
It sounded absurd, but it was the truth. He was jealous. The woman he had been madly in love with, the woman who had never given any man the time of day, had actually allowed a young man to live in her private residence.
Although there was a world of difference in their ages and seniority, what true expert in the Land of the Far West would pay any mind to such a gap? They possessed immense lifespans; in the eyes of mortals, they were already bona fide gods!
Age was no issue for them whatsoever! And seniority? They weren’t related in any way, so what the hell did seniority matter!
So yes, Hai Yufeng was truly jealous. Especially since the man who could enter Yongchun’s residence was not only an enemy of the Hai Family, but also the most formidable, peerless genius to appear on the entire Celestial Essence Continent in tens of thousands of years. What’s more, to Hai Yufeng’s utter disbelief, the man was also the goddamn new king of the Purple-eyed Race...
’Is there any justice in this world? How could one person have all the good fortune?’
’A person like that must either be recruited or eliminated before he becomes too powerful.’
’A genius of this caliber was simply terrifying, completely incomparable to the talents produced by ordinary families and sects. Once his power reached a certain level and he was fully-fledged, no one on the entire Celestial Essence Continent would be his match!’
’At that point, the Hai Family, the Purple-eyed Race, Tongtian City, the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace—all of them would be crushed under his heel!’
For the Hai Family, with its inheritance from Ancient Times, this would be an unbearable, monumental humiliation. Therefore, a person like that had to be eliminated.
"Enough nonsense. Make your move," Yongchun said. Her gaze, as she looked at Hai Yufeng, was as still as the water in an ancient well, without the slightest ripple, much to his disappointment.
He had always thought Yongchun would remember their past affection. Though nothing physical had ever happened between them, their bond back then had been genuinely strong.
If not for that one incident, they might have become an enviable couple, inseparable in all things.
Hai Yufeng’s expression darkened. In a grave voice, he said, "Very well, Yongchun. Be on your guard!"
As he spoke, Hai Yufeng’s body suddenly vanished. A faint ripple was the only trace left in the air, followed immediately by a furious gale that swept toward Yongchun like a hurricane.
A slight smile touched Yongchun’s lips. ’Three thousand years, and you haven’t improved at all?’ she thought.
With that thought, Yongchun simply stood her ground. She waved a delicate hand, and a gentle, warm breeze drifted out to meet the ferocious, oncoming hurricane.
Like hard ice meeting warm sunlight, the hurricane—which looked powerful enough to scour the world of all creation—vanished into thin air in an instant.
Suddenly, the gentle breeze Yongchun had sent forth erupted with a brilliant light, as radiant as the rising sun!
The radiance was so intense it outshone the sun itself. Everything between heaven and earth was bleached a brilliant white. In that instant, nearly everyone below couldn’t help but shield their eyes, letting out subconscious cries of alarm.
The ancestors of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace, the renowned elders of the Hai Family—all of them stared with slack-jawed astonishment at Yongchun, who hovered in the sky like a Divine Being.
No one could have imagined that Yongchun’s power had already reached a realm almost beyond their comprehension.
Meanwhile, Hai Yufeng was completely enveloped in the blinding light. No one knew his condition, nor could they guess what lethal dangers were hidden within that dazzling radiance.
BOOM!
A clap of thunder erupted from a clear sky, shaking the entire mountain to its foundations. An even more dazzling bolt of lightning materialized from nothing, hurtling toward Yongchun!
Thunder Tribulation!
Qin Li’s heart skipped a beat. He watched the scene in the sky intently, his Divine Sense spreading out to perceive the changes in the surrounding world.
With the appearance of the lightning, the sky churned. Massive, ink-black clouds rapidly gathered, roiling and roaring as they converged like a stampede of ancient beasts.
At that same moment, a world-shaking roar suddenly erupted from the direction of the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace’s main gate!
ROAR!!!
Qin Li suddenly recalled a legend about the Moon Shaking Immortal Palace—that it was guarded by an Ancient Strange Beast... a Hou!
The battle between the two had actually awakened it!

With that one roar from the Hou, the roiling storm clouds in the sky shattered like soap bubbles and rapidly dispersed.
As for the lightning bolt hurtling toward Yongchun, she, with a smile on her face... caught it in her hand!
At this moment, Yongchun looked like a goddess. In her hand, she held a bolt of lightning that seemed to connect heaven and earth, crackling with electric fire. Her expression was stern as she gazed at Hai Yufeng.
She stated coolly, "Hai Yufeng, you are no longer my match."
With that, she swung the bolt of lightning like a whip and lashed it viciously at Hai Yufeng!
The blinding white light that had filled the world vanished in an instant. Hai Yufeng’s figure reappeared, only to be sent flying by the vicious lash of the lightning bolt!
All the members of the Hai family below let out an uncontrollable gasp. Their ancestor, the immensely powerful Hai Yufeng, had actually... been defeated!
