Oops… I Went Into Heat and My Alpha Daddies Claimed Me

KEISHA’S POV

The silence in the council hall became almost unbearable once the priestess began examining me.

I stood in the center of the room with every pair of eyes fixed on me while she moved around me slowly, studying me without touching me at first. Her attention lingered on my face, then my hands, and finally my stomach, as though she could see something beneath my skin that the rest of them couldn’t.

I tried to remain composed, but standing there while the elders watched me made my palms damp. I could hear the occasional whisper from the other side of the room, followed by someone immediately lowering their voice when the priestess glanced in their direction.

Nobody wanted to be caught speaking while she worked, but their expressions said enough. Some looked worried but others looked almost excited, as though they were waiting for her to confirm whatever frightening theory they had already created.

The examination continued for several minutes. The priestess eventually placed one hand near my stomach and closed her eyes. I instinctively held my breath.

Something about the way she became completely still made the entire room feel tense. I didn’t know what she was searching for, and every second she remained silent made me more nervous.

Then one of the elders muttered something about the situation being a bad omen, and another quietly agreed. I heard my name mentioned, followed by a whisper about the pack being in danger. I wanted to turn around and tell them to stop talking about me as though I weren’t standing right there, but the priestess finally opened her eyes. "There is no reason for alarm."

The relief that passed through me was immediate, although it barely had time to settle before Osric spoke. "No reason for alarm?" His disbelief was evident. "You have an unknown woman transforming outside the full moon, displaying the characteristics of an Alpha wolf, and you’re telling us there is no reason for concern?"

The priestess turned toward him, but Osric wasn’t finished.. "That wolf was powerful. Everyone saw it. If she has the strength of an Alpha, then we have a serious problem. We cannot simply allow a woman to possess that kind of power without knowing what it means for the hierarchy of this pack."

Callum’s chair scraped sharply against the floor. "Enough."

Osric’s mouth closed as Callum rose, and the expression on his face made even me take a small step back. "You have already been warned about provoking me. I allowed you to return from house arrest because I expected you to understand the consequences of your previous behavior. If you continue trying to turn every situation involving Keisha into an excuse for another attack against her, I will not hesitate to put you back under restriction, and this time you won’t have the luxury of pretending you were misunderstood."

Osric stared at him but Callum didn’t blink, and the elder eventually looked away.

The rest of the council suddenly became very interested in remaining silent.

The priestess seemed almost amused by the change in atmosphere before she turned back to me. "The wolf you saw was not an indication that Keisha has suddenly become an Alpha."

I felt the tension leave my shoulders. "Then what was it?"

She looked directly at my stomach. "The children."

The room became silent again and I frowned. "My babies?"

"Both of them." Her expression softened slightly as she explained that the two lives growing inside me were not ordinary pups. Their strength had already begun affecting me, and because both carried Alpha traits which she explained could be lingering from Dane’s bloodline, the combined power had surged through me during the moment of danger.

My wolf had responded to that power before my conscious mind could understand what was happening.

I looked down at my stomach, the realization dawning on me. I had spent so much time worrying about whether the babies were safe that I hadn’t considered that they could be responsible for what happened to me.

"The transformation wasn’t caused by something attacking you from within," the priestess continued. "Your body reacted to the strength of the lives you’re carrying. Their instincts are developing, and because there are two of them, the effect is stronger than it would be with a single child."

One of the elders shifted uneasily. "So you’re saying the woman herself isn’t responsible for the power?"

"Not entirely." The priestess looked toward the council. "At this stage of the pregnancy, Keisha is carrying more power than she normally would. The children are drawing from her, but they are also strengthening her. That is why the transformation happened so suddenly. Her wolf responded to their combined instincts when she was placed in danger."

I slowly rubbed my stomach. "And they’ll keep doing this?"

"They may." Her answer didn’t sound particularly reassuring. "They are strong children. As they develop, that strength may become more noticeable. You should learn how to manage it rather than fear it."

Callum thanked her and dismissed her before the elders could turn her explanation into another argument. He made it clear that the meeting was over, and nobody dared challenge him after what had just happened with Osric.

I followed the priestess out of the hall once the doors opened, relieved to finally leave the room where everyone had spent so much time discussing me as though I were some threat waiting to reveal itself.

I expected the priestess to continue toward the estate entrance, but she stopped once we were far enough from the council hall that nobody could overhear us. "There is something else you should know."

I turned toward her to see that her expression had changed. The calm authority she had displayed inside the council was still there, but now there was concern beneath it.

"What is it?" I asked.

She glanced around before lowering her voice. "I know the pups you’re carrying belong to an Alpha and a Beta."

My heart skipped and for a moment, I didn’t know what to say.

"Oh shit." Diane muttered in my head. "That’s bad."

The priestess smiled faintly. "Don’t look so frightened. I have no intention of telling the council."

I recovered quickly and smiled. "Then I suppose there’s nothing else to discuss."

She studied me. "You know what I’m talking about."

"I know enough to handle my own problems." I assured her.

She didn’t push me further, although the knowing look in her eyes told me she understood far more than I wanted her to. "I suspected as much," she said. "But you should come and see me occasionally."

"Why?"

"Because the power you’re carrying needs to be stabilized." She told me.

I frowned. "The babies?"

"Their power. Two Alpha pups developing together can create complications if the energy isn’t controlled. What happened at the party may not be the last time your wolf reacts without your permission."

The warning made me glance toward my stomach. "How dangerous could it become?"

"That depends on how well you learn to manage it." She paused. "I didn’t tell the council that part."

I looked at her. "Why?"

"Because you saw what they were already prepared to do with incomplete information. If they knew your children were capable of creating that kind of power, they’d use it as another reason to fear you."

I couldn’t argue with that so I smiled in gratefulness. "Thank you."

She nodded. "My home is open to you. Come whenever you feel the need. The sooner you learn how to stabilize what is happening inside you, the easier the rest of your pregnancy will be."

I thanked her again, and she finally continued down the path toward the estate entrance.

I remained where I was for a moment, watching her disappear, before my hand slowly moved over my stomach.

And I had no idea what their growth meant for me.
