Chapter 2187 - 1101: Mordred 2
This is the allure of death.
In short, it’s actually somewhat similar to Stockholm Syndrome. People sometimes tend to fall in love with that dangerous feeling — the more thrilling, the more dangerous, the more they like it.
If we really let all the audience stare directly at the shadow of Dragon Mountain City, then who knows how many people in this arena today, and among the Magic Network live audience, would end up committing suicide.
After all, any feature above, once seen, can be triggered. This is indeed a special ability that ordinary arena defenses cannot prevent.
Of course, seeing the audience still somewhat bewildered, Dorothy thought for a moment, then manipulated the Puppet Dragon Marionette to stand up.
"Simple words might be hard for everyone to understand, but Miss Nibelungen’s magic I can’t reveal to everyone, it’s her secret, so let’s use a little comparable trick instead."
The adorable Puppet Dragon Marionette made a motion as if putting on clothes, then after dressing, she spun around to show everyone, then asked.
"I just put on a piece of clothing that only true Witch fans can see. Does everyone think it looks good?"
She mainly wanted to demonstrate that the magic that can only be seen with special inspiration truly exists.
As for the clothes, they were indeed worn. The Puppet Dragon was wearing a toy Battle Robe imitating tentacles belonging to senior Fanny, after all, there’s no one more skilled than senior at this kind of magic, which can only be seen by people with a specific inspiration.
Of course, Dorothy also eagerly awaited the audience’s reaction, she really hoped someone would stand up and say she wasn’t wearing anything at all.
Hmm, step forward, Little Blackies of the Witch of the Forest.
"Hehehe, Lady Witch is so cute."
"Wow, seeing this scene alone was worth my ticket price."
"Forest treasure, we will always love you."
....
These are the words of those true fans who could see the clothes, their eyes burning with passion, making the homebody witch feel insecure.
No way, the Witch fan standard she set was equivalent to the church’s standard for devout believers, ordinary fans shouldn’t meet it, yet there are so many people?
Fortunately, what made Dorothy quite happy was that there indeed was a small portion of the audience looking quite confused.
"Uh, what are you guys excited about, isn’t there nothing on it?"
"Ah, did you really see some clothes?"
"Oh no, although I quite like the Forest Witch’s magic, I’m not into idol chasing, does this make me a fake fan?"
"Hey, I just came out of seclusion, who is the Witch of the Forest?"
.....
Hmm, seeing this, the homebody witch felt a sense of relief.
Thank goodness, not everyone is a devout believer, there are still quite a few mature, rational, and sensible witches around.
However, just as she was feeling relieved, someone in the audience suddenly let out an exclamation.
"Oh my, it’s real, I didn’t like the Witch of the Forest that much, so I didn’t see any clothes, but just now I self-hypnotized, now I’m a real Witch fan, and indeed I can see that toy Battle Robe now, Forest treasure, hehehe, you’re so cute."
Dorothy immediately frowned, then saw among the crowd the witch who exclaimed.
Tch, it’s a familiar face, actually, it’s the Evileye Witch Martel who recently lost to Inanna.
But is your Hypnotic Magic Eye supposed to be used this way?
The homebody witch was somewhat speechless.
But soon after, she was not only speechless, but furious.
"Uh, does truly believing allow you to see it? Then I’ll believe it and see?"
"Lord Martel, give me some hypnosis too, I want to see what’s going on."
"I used to be just a casual fan, but never thought the great Witch of the Forest would willingly perform and explain live, watching a match one can even learn new knowledge points. She really, I’m crying, I love her, I love her, um... my goodness, loving her actually made the clothes appear."
.....
Things seem to be heading in a strange direction.
Dorothy, with a darkening face, watched that small group of casual fans quickly turn into devout believers.
She immediately cast a fierce glance at the Evileye Witch, starting to doubt if she was also hypnotized, forgetting that this person might be a dog plant hired by the Witch of the Forest.
This guy knows how to recruit fans successfully.
Damn it, I’ll remember this grudge for now.
The homebody witch grumbled inwardly.
She decided to stay silent from now on, to prevent losing any more of her already small number of supporters.
However, the doubt surrounding Miss Nibelungen was finally resolved, and the tournament continued.
To be honest, the following matches were rather lackluster, especially after a game-breaker entered the field. Others simply couldn’t compete.
And so, the matches went on into the dead of night, eventually concluding the finals for the youth group after intense competition.
It was no surprise that Miss Nibelungen took first place, taking down any opponent in seconds, whether it was Spider Teacher or Inanna, none could withstand her Underworld power.
The second place was Miss Tyranny Inanna, who defeated Noelle Rose, but couldn’t stand against Nibelungen’s Dragon Mountain City Shadow, even after unleashing the "Tyrannical Murderous Curse."
After all, the power of the Underworld isn’t merely a Spiritual Attack; one can’t simply overcome the fear of death through sheer rage.
As for third place, it went to Spider Teacher Noelle Rose.
But Dorothy could immediately tell that her teacher was not taking things seriously, not showing her full strength against Inanna.
Considering the Spider Teacher in the arena was just a Puppet body, not her real form, and her true combat power—those massive War Fortresses—weren’t even present. A Puppet Master choosing not to unleash a Puppet Sea, opting instead for a one-on-one with Inanna, what’s that about?
Still, the homebody witch didn’t expose her teacher’s lax attitude; it’s hard to blame her when every fight costs real Gold and Silver instead of just Magic Power.
Other witches can just fight till their heart’s content, but Puppet Masters have to consider things like energy consumption and the Wear and Tear on puppet parts—it’s all money.
Those massive War Puppets aren’t meant for one-on-one battles; they’re high-consumption ultimate weapons. People say cannons cost thousands in Gold, and when those War Fortresses move, the fuel for the Magic Furnace alone is wallet-aching.
The rules of the arena ensure you won’t die and your important equipment won’t be destroyed. Beyond that, there’s no guarantee. Consumables used up are gone for good. The Magic Furnace fuel definitely counts as consumable.
On a real battlefield, you could count on war spoils to regain or even profit, but using it in a duel where you wouldn’t even get first place is quite pointless.
So, just take it easy.
However, regardless of that, Dorothy enjoyed watching the matches thoroughly. She picked up a lot of experience from today’s battles, which sparked her Inspiration to create some new spells and earn some Points.
As the event wound down and the crowd dispersed, Mother Dragon suddenly spoke up.
"Dorothy, if you’re free tomorrow, come home for a bit. I never got the chance to give you the birthday gift I prepared."
Euphilia spoke with some wistfulness.
Sigh, she had planned to give her daughter a surprise, but who would’ve thought the Dragon King would disrupt things?
"There’s still a gift? What is it?"
The homebody witch’s eyes lit up immediately.
Her father’s gift had already delighted her, and she wondered what her mother would give. Given Mother Dragon’s competitive spirit, it must be something good.
"Haha, I’m not telling you. If you want to know, come home to get it."
Euphilia snorted, ignoring her daughter’s puppy eyes, and turned to leave.
Dorothy sighed helplessly and decided she should go home tomorrow to check it out.
Why not go tonight, you ask?
Well, she had to return to the Dragon King Palace after all; it was the kind of place where you could come and go as you pleased.
As she was preparing to meet up with her friends at the entrance of the Duel Arena, she suddenly froze.
Just like when she arrived, maid-outfitted Guinevere was waiting at the door. Except this time, besides her little lover Lancelot, there was also a familiar, melancholic-looking blonde girl.
Nibelungen.
"Well, there you are waiting for me, huh? Not pretending anymore?"
When Dorothy saw this Ultimate Weapon Girl, she was surprised, yet not entirely so, considering she had suspected from the start that the girl was after her. It turned out she was right.
However, when she approached, one sentence from Lancelot left her stunned.
"Dorothy, thanks for helping this girl out today. Let me introduce properly, she’s called Mordred, daughter of Arthur and Morgan. The name Nibelungen is actually from the city sealed inside her."
Dorothy: "....."
...Homebody witch in shock...
