Chapter 2139 - 1080: The Struggle of the Ingredient (2)
"How about we make a deal? I’m the overlord of the Deep Sea World. If you let me out, I’ll crown you as the King of the World."
A giant squid encased in ice transmitted this message to Dorothy as she walked past it.
This made the homebody witch stop in her tracks.
"Wow, talking food."
She marveled out loud.
"What food? You arrogant youngster, what are you talking about? When I, Dagan, roamed Western Universe, you witches didn’t even know where you were, how dare you regard an ancient deity as mere food?"
The giant squid within the ice instantly became annoyed, and countless terrifying eyes opened upon its tentacles, looking quite frightening.
"Have you ever eaten humans?"
Dorothy seemed unfazed, although she could see that if this squid broke free, one tentacle could probably kill her a thousand times over. This creature was no doubt a high-level pseudo god, with Strength enough to rival an ordinary Sage.
However, Guinevere was right here beside her, and the homebody witch believed the Queen’s power was definitely not that of an ordinary Sage.
See, this Squid Evil God didn’t even dare try to beguile her outright; it had to communicate secretly.
Plus, when she looked around at her sisters and realized they were not reacting, Dorothy knew she was likely the only one being contacted by the Evil God.
As for why this was...
Well, she’s the weakest among her sisters, at least on the surface.
The squid’s Evil God was silent in response to the homebody witch’s question.
Humans? Those weak creatures as ubiquitous as cockroaches, of course, it had encountered them. In fact, in the Deep Sea World, humans were merely playthings and food for these Deep Sea Evil Gods, so naturally, it had eaten humans.
When the witches first attacked, the Deep Sea Deities didn’t take it seriously, thinking it was just a new species of evolved humans, until the Great Expedition Fleet descended on the Ocean, these brutal humanoid creatures parted the sea and captured the Evil Gods hiding in the deep ocean one by one. Even as the Chief God of the Deep Sea World, it was ultimately frozen in this damned place.
It initially thought this frozen world was a prison of the witches, until it just realized this seemed more like a refrigerator, and they were all ingredients.
"I don’t eat humans. I’m just a peace-loving good person."
It stopped its previous fury and lied.
As an Evil God, it possessed the ability to see through others’ affiliations; it immediately recognized this little witch as a naive, pure-hearted good person, with a soul light that was upright and pure beyond measure.
Based on its years of experience playing with humans, such a sight portrayed a little girl who hadn’t seen the world, very naive and easy to deceive; for such folks, just pretending to be pitiful might truly make them soften and rescue you.
Back then, it loved doing this, transforming into harmless little animals, then picked up by these naive children, and afterwards, eating their family right in front of these idiots, finally consuming those broken children.
It found this amusing.
Though humans, weak as they may be, didn’t possess valuable Strength, they had high-level souls comparable to those of advanced beings. That feeling of pure souls crumbling into despair was intriguing no matter how many times it was observed.
Dorothy: "...."
She tilted her head and looked at the giant squid in the ice. Despite being a terrifying Evil God, at this moment it seemed endearingly pitiful in her eyes, almost like an injured little animal.
It seemed pitiful; maybe she should save it.
This thought surfaced in her mind.
So, she did exactly that.
"Your Majesty, can we let it go?"
She turned to Guinevere beside her and said.
"Uh, this guy is quite dangerous, and its Life Force is incredibly strong. Despite looking half-dead now, if unfrozen it will quickly restore to full health, making it tough to imprison again."
"It’s okay, I find it quite cute, surely it’ll be obedient. I trust it."
Dorothy blinked her eyes and asked earnestly.
Guinevere: "....."
Her Majesty the Queen was silent for a moment, ultimately defeated by the homebody witch’s pleading eyes.
"All right, but be careful, keep your distance from this guy."
She warned her.
Well, with her watching over, this little squid wouldn’t stir up much trouble.
Then, Guinevere waved her hand. Immediately, the gigantic ice encasing the Squid Evil God, like a snow-covered mountain, began to melt.
Soon, that fearsome giant squid was completely free, and with the ice curtain gone, the oppressive presence of this dreadful Evil God became evident.
This was a terror that felt suffocating just from its aura. Even someone as strong as Sophia felt icy dread all over her body, her mind muddled with a cacophony of whispers upon glimpsing it.
Luckily, Guinevere stood in front, providing her Majesty’s protection; the group was merely uncomfortable without any real mishap.
Surprisingly, this Squid Evil God seemed quite meek, as only its aura was terrifying during the instant it broke free, but soon after, it actively withdrew its pressure. Its colossal form gradually shrank down, finally becoming a cute pink cartoon squid, undeniably adorable.
"Thank you, kind lady! Thank you so much! You’re a truly good person; let me express my heartfelt gratitude."
This pink cartoon squid sincerely said so, then spat out a large crystal ball.
"This is the Treasure of our Deep Sea World, the Heart of the Ocean. As gratitude for saving me, I’m willing to offer it to you."
The squid used its tentacles to hold that pristine crystal ball and said.
Of course, all of this was fake.
The Squid Evil God was secretly pleased, relieved that the witch was indeed naive and easy to deceive, having softened so easily.
Although it wasn’t enough.
It glanced warily at Guinevere beside, emitting an intimidating aura that scared it. In its current not fully recovered state, it wouldn’t be able to match her.
Thus, to escape successfully, it had to use its wits.
Hmm, this naive little witch seemed quite important, the fearsome woman seemed to listen to her. So this would be simple.
Control this little witch and use her as a hostage.
At this moment, the Heart of the Ocean in her hand was indeed genuine; the object was this Chief God of the Deep Sea’s Treasure, also the core of the Deep Sea World. Holding the Heart of the Ocean enabled it to harness the power of the Deep Sea World, becoming the Main God.
Although the Deep Sea World had been long destroyed by the witches, it wouldn’t matter. As long as the Heart of the Ocean remained, the Deep Sea World could be reborn, and once escaping, it wouldn’t be long before it would become the King of the Deep Sea once more.
Well, little girls couldn’t resist the allure of such shiny treasures. Come on, come take the reward.
The Squid Evil God prayed in its heart.
But wasn’t sure if this little girl would fall for it; surely, that difficult woman beside wouldn’t easily let the little girl approach.
If worse comes to worst, genuinely act like a good person. Nestle beside this little fool for now.
It thought inwardly.
However, unexpectedly, the little fool really just approached without any defense.
"Whoa, met a true fool indeed."
The Squid Evil God was overjoyed, finally seeing a chance to escape after being imprisoned for thousands of years.
Right then, as the little witch got closer, it grew increasingly nervous, fearing that fearsome woman might suddenly intervene.
Fortunately, she continued to watch quietly, without stopping the little witch, who reached its attack range.
Then, the Squid Evil God instantly dropped its disguise.
"Haha, you little fool, didn’t expect this, did you? You’re my escape route."
It revealed its evil god form and roared furiously.
However, Dorothy merely sighed helplessly.
"Sigh, you really love eating squid, gave you a chance, but you blew it."
Then, the Yellow-Cloaked King descended.
.... Tentacle Monster engaged in internal conflict...
