Chapter 688: You Can’t Go Back

"I want to go home!"

Iris Yates screamed, breaking down. She sobbed so hard her entire body trembled.

William Quinn’s expression stiffened. His blue eyes stared fixedly at her. "Do you really have to leave me?"

Iris Yates wiped her face with the back of her hand. "I don’t like you at all, and I don’t want to be with you. I’m already married, but you brought me here! This is illegal confinement! I don’t want to see you—not one bit!"

William Quinn’s handsome, refined face darkened. He slowly stood up, looking down on her.

The sheer force of his presence terrified Iris Yates out of crying aloud, but she couldn’t stop her choked sobs. She looked up at him through blurry, tear-filled eyes and asked in a muffled voice, "Are you going to kill me?"

Then, she threw her head back. "I’d rather you kill me than keep me locked up here!"

’If he killed me, my soul could probably go home. Maybe I could see my family and friends again.’

’Even if it had to be this way.’

SOB SOB SOB...

’I’m so miserable.’

As Iris Yates pictured the scene, her tears streamed down more violently. She cried harder, no longer afraid of William Quinn, and began to wail once more.

William Quinn’s hands at his sides clenched and unclenched into fists several times before he finally spoke. "How about I take you out to sea to enjoy the view? Do you want to see the sunset or the sunrise over the ocean? Hmm? We could watch them both together."

"I don’t want to. I want to go home," Iris Yates insisted.

"Baby." William Quinn’s tone was exceptionally gentle. "You can’t go back. I won’t let you leave until you fall in love with me. So, you have two choices: let me take you out to sea, or stay here."

"You’re a monster!"

Iris Yates cursed, "Why don’t you just die?! Why hasn’t some good person killed you yet?!"

William Quinn leaned over and hugged her. "No one can kill me. I won’t die. I will live on, until the day you fall in love with me."

Iris Yates slapped him across the face. "Get away!"

William Quinn pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek. He wasn’t angry. Instead, he caught her hand, blew on it gently, and then kissed it. "Baby," he asked, "does it hurt?"

’Lunatic! He’s a lunatic!’

Iris Yates trembled all over, her eyes filled with terror as she looked at him.

But William Quinn reached out and covered her eyes. He couldn’t stand to see her look at him like that.

’I love her so much. How could she possibly be afraid of me?’

He lifted her into his arms and said, "I’m taking you out to sea. We’ll watch the sunrise and the sunset."

He kissed her temple tenderly. "Baby, the view is gorgeous. I know you’ll love it."

William Quinn was a man of action. He immediately ordered his people to prepare to set sail. A cruise ship was docked at the nearby pier, and once all the preparations were complete, he brought her aboard.

The sea breeze was gentle. It was afternoon, with two or three hours left until evening.

The sea was calm. Iris Yates’s emotions had settled somewhat by now, though her eyes were still red and swollen from crying.

William Quinn brought some ice and placed it on her eyes. "Baby," he said softly, "this will help with the swelling. It’ll feel better in a moment."

Iris Yates didn’t move. She was filled with a cold indifference, her entire being radiating resistance.

It was as if every breath she took was an act of defiance.

William Quinn ignored it all completely.

He held her close, nuzzling his cheek against hers. "Baby, if you behave, I’ll consider letting your friends know you’re safe."

At these words, a shudder went through Iris Yates. She tried to turn and look at him, but he held her head in place.

"Don’t move," he said gently. "Your eyes are still swollen."
