Chapter 708: He’s Only Three Years Old

"Aunt Jensen, are you all right?" Fiona Linton asked, composing herself and showing a touch of concern.

Judith Pierce sighed. "I thought I’d prepared myself, but when I see little Noah having to endure so much pain, knowing he’ll have to live in this shadow for decades to come... I just lose control."

As she spoke, her voice choked up again. "He’s so little... He’s Julian’s only child. How could Sunny Reed be so vicious..."

Fiona Linton quickly pulled out a tissue and handed it to her. "Aunt Jensen, don’t lose hope. Medical science is advancing every day. I’m sure he can be treated."

At these words, Judith Pierce grasped her hand, her eyes pleading. "Fiona, will you examine him? Please, see if there’s any chance of recovery. He’s only three years old! His life has just begun. He can’t spend his entire life in a wheelchair."

Fiona Linton nodded at once. "Of course, I’ll examine him. But you need to take care of yourself, too."

Judith Pierce wiped away her tears and turned to look toward the living room. When she saw Noah sitting in Walker Grant’s lap, his bright eyes fixed on Chloe Reed, a complex expression flickered across her face.

In the past, because of Sunny Reed, Chloe Reed had been distant and cold toward Noah Grant. But perhaps seeing how pitiable the child was, even her hardened heart had softened.

She no longer pushed the boy away.

After composing herself, Judith Pierce went back into the room.

"Should we have Fiona examine Noah?" she asked, looking at Walker Grant.

"We’d appreciate that, Doctor Linton," Walker Grant said softly, turning in Fiona Linton’s direction.

Fiona Linton replied, "It’s no trouble. If I can treat him, you just keep paying me. If I can’t, there’s nothing I can do."

She wanted to set expectations from the start, so they wouldn’t get their hopes up too high.

After all, Noah had been poisoned a long time ago. She wasn’t yet sure to what extent the toxins had damaged his nervous system, but she knew it would be an incredibly difficult case.

Judith Pierce sat down next to Noah. "Noah, this is Aunt Fiona. She’s the doctor who’s treating your uncle’s eyes. How about we let her take a look at your legs, okay?"

Noah looked at Fiona Linton, a stranger to him, with a confused expression. "Hello, Aunt Fiona."

Fiona Linton smiled. "Hello there. You look so much like your uncle."

Judith Pierce added, "Walker and Julian looked very much alike. Noah takes after his father."

Noah immediately asked in confusion, "What’s a daddy? Does Noah have a daddy?"

"Of course."

Judith Pierce didn’t shy away from the question. "Noah’s daddy was a very, very good person. Someday, Grandma will take you to see him."

But Noah latched on to the topic. "Then why hasn’t Daddy ever appeared?"

"Oh, him... He went to a place very, very far away, and he can’t come back for a while," Judith Pierce said, a flicker of reminiscence in her eyes.

In truth, the word "daddy" was foreign to Noah. The role had been absent from his life since the day he was born.

Fiona Linton pulled up a chair and sat in front of him. "Noah, sweetie, can you give me your hand?"

The little boy’s attention was quickly diverted, and he began to watch Fiona Linton’s every move.

Fiona Linton first took his pulse, then felt other parts of Noah’s body, and finally took out her silver needles.

The sight of the silver needles frightened the little boy.
