Chapter 715: Move Out
Judith Pierce looked on, her expression unpleasant.
In her view, since they were destined for divorce, there was no need to be so intimate.
But she couldn’t be too blunt about certain things. If Walker Grant got angry, it would complicate matters.
The grandmother, however, shot her a look. After dinner, she called Chloe Reed out to the garden.
As they walked to aid their digestion, she asked, "Chloe, what’s going on with you and Walker?"
Confusion flickered across Chloe Reed’s face. She picked up her phone and typed, asking, "What?"
The grandmother stared into her eyes. "Are you still getting a divorce?"
At this, Chloe Reed’s eyelashes fluttered before she nodded.
"Sigh... No wonder Walker’s mother is so cold to you," the grandmother lamented with a sigh. "She knows you’re getting divorced sooner or later, doesn’t she?"
Chloe Reed nodded again.
The grandmother turned to look ahead and fell silent for a moment before saying, "In that case, we should move out. Walker has his mother to look after him, so he’ll be fine. Since you two are getting a divorce, I can’t keep living in your marital home. It just wouldn’t look right."
But Chloe Reed took her hand and typed on her phone. A cold, electronic female voice rang out, "I promised him I would take care of him until his eyes recover. Grandma, his eyes... it happened because he was saving me."
If he hadn’t suddenly lunged forward, she would have inhaled all of the poison. The consequences would have been unthinkable.
The grandmother was taken aback. She hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Well, if that’s the case, things really are a bit complicated."
Chloe Reed continued to type. "Grandma, don’t you worry about a thing. Just stay here peacefully. Walker Grant and I will definitely get a divorce in the end, but we haven’t yet, right? So just pretend you don’t know anything about it."
But the grandmother shook her head and gave a helpless smile. "How can I pretend not to know? Walker’s mother already knows. In her eyes, we’re just outsiders. It’s certainly not convenient for us to be living here."
Chloe Reed understood her grandmother’s concerns, but moving out right now was not an option.
After a moment’s thought, she typed to her grandmother, "For our safety, we have to stay here for the time being."
Then, she looked at her grandmother, her gaze earnest.
’I hope Grandma understands what I mean.’
’Grandma doesn’t know anything, but she’s very perceptive. She must have guessed something happened to me, or she wouldn’t have said what she did earlier.’
’And I don’t want to tell her about the danger, so I can only be subtle like this.’
The grandmother watched her for a moment, then patted her hand. "Alright, I understand."
Seeing this, Chloe Reed smiled, the look on her small face visibly relieved.
「The Study」
"Mom, what exactly are you trying to do?"
Walker Grant sat in his chair, his face wrapped in white gauze. He faced Judith Pierce’s direction, and his tone was edged with cold.
Judith Pierce’s expression froze. "What are you talking about? I don’t understand."
"You should know my feelings on this by now. I will never give up on Chloe Reed, no matter what. She’s the only wife I will ever have in this life," Walker Grant said, his expression grave and his words heavy with conviction. "If you can’t bring yourself to like her, then at least don’t make things difficult for her."
Judith Pierce’s expression darkened.
