Chapter 728: Apologizing to Big Brother

She took out the hairdryer and started drying his hair. Amidst the whirring noise, he suddenly reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist.

Chloe Reed’s movements stiffened, but she didn’t push him away and continued to dry his hair.

His hair was short and dried quickly. She turned off the hairdryer, and seeing that he showed no intention of letting go, she gave him a little push.

Walker Grant said in a low voice, "I’m going to the cemetery tomorrow."

Chloe Reed blinked and drew a question mark on his shoulder with her finger.

’What’s he going to the cemetery for?’

"To apologize to my big brother."

Walker Grant’s voice was a bit hoarse.

Chloe Reed’s heart clenched. A long moment passed before she made a sound in reply.

In bed, the two of them lay side-by-side with no romantic thoughts. The room was dark and quiet, but neither had any desire to sleep.

That night, Chloe Reed tossed and turned, and she knew that Walker Grant wasn’t asleep either.

The next day, he told Judith Pierce about it.

Judith Pierce’s expression faltered for a moment, then she nodded. "Alright, I’ll go with you."

Then, she looked at Chloe Reed. "I’ll have to trouble you to look after Noah for now."

Before Chloe Reed could even nod, Noah said, "I’ll take care of Auntie Chloe!"

Judith Pierce smiled and patted Noah’s head. "Our Noah is such a good boy."

Fiona Linton said, "You two go on and do what you need to. I’ll take care of them."

"Fiona, we’ll be counting on you then." Judith Pierce looked at her gratefully.

Fiona Linton smiled and said, "I consider Chloe a friend. It’s only right to take care of a friend."

The old madam watched them, and after Walker Grant and Judith Pierce had left, she took Chloe Reed’s hand and asked quizzically, "Chloe, did something happen?"

The old madam hadn’t been present yesterday when Noah talked about his experience.

Chloe Reed helped her back to her room, then took out her phone and started typing. A cold, electronic female voice rang out, repeating what Noah had said.

"Oh my god..."

The old madam was utterly shocked. She clutched her chest and said, "That’s so vicious. How could that woman do such a thing?"

Then, she held Chloe Reed’s hand with heartfelt pity, her voice trembling as she spoke. "Chloe, no wonder you’ve suffered so much. How could you possibly be a match for her? She’s ruthless and unscrupulous, willing to do anything to get what she wants. You’ve really suffered all these years."

A warmth spread through Chloe Reed’s heart. She leaned right against the old madam, drawing in her warmth.

The old madam sighed. "I’d met her before, a long time ago. She was just a little girl then. How did she turn into... this?"

’Some people are just inherently bad; they don’t slowly become that way. Sunny Reed’s mind was always on a crooked path, making her impossible to guard against.’

But it was Chloe Reed whom the old madam pitied the most.

She had been wrongfully accused and framed countless times in the Reed family. Later, she met her true love and thought she could finally live a happy life. But who would have thought that Sunny Reed had no intention of ever letting her go.

But thinking about it carefully, what kind of grudge could there be between Chloe Reed and Sunny Reed?

Sunny Reed hated the Reed family, so why not go after Charles Reed and Autumn Linton?

Why insist on hurting Chloe Reed, the most innocent one of all?

That was something no one could figure out.

...

「The cemetery.」

The weather was gloomy, heavy dark clouds drifting slowly, like a shadow looming over one’s heart.

Judith Pierce supported Walker Grant as they arrived before a gravestone.

On the gravestone, a photo of a smiling man looked forward. His eyes were gentle yet bright, and his facial contours were very similar to Walker Grant’s.

In front of the gravestone sat a middle-aged man. His hair was graying at the temples, and his face, though handsome, showed the marks of time. He held a bottle of liquor, and some fruit was laid out before him.

He glanced at the two who were approaching, then coldly looked away.
