Chapter 677: Did You Cheat?
Walker Grant’s expression darkened slightly.
"What’s there to be so surprised about?"
Fiona Linton, however, said with a serious look on her face, "If it got to the point of divorce, then something very serious must have happened. Chloe has such a wonderful personality and is so beautiful—I think you must have done something to wrong her. That’s why she would have divorced you."
As she spoke, her brows furrowed. "Did you cheat on her?"
"No."
Walker Grant retorted quickly, "Don’t talk nonsense."
After a pause, he added, "You should just stop talking."
’Keeping things as they are is already a struggle. If she keeps talking and makes Chloe remember all those painful things, this will get a lot harder. What am I supposed to do then?’
Hearing this, Fiona Linton curled her lip and snorted coldly. "You answered so quickly, you must have done something to wrong her. Men are all trash."
After speaking, she stopped looking at Walker Grant and focused on giving Chloe Reed her acupuncture treatment.
Chloe Reed kept her eyes closed, not participating in their discussion.
’In my current situation, I can’t remember the past or look forward to the future. All I can do is live in the present.’
When the acupuncture session was over, Fiona Linton faced Walker Grant and said in a stiff tone, "Your eyes might hurt a little. Just bear with it."
But when she turned to Chloe Reed, her voice was gentle and tinged with a smile. "Chloe, if all goes as expected, you’ll spit up some dark blood again tomorrow morning. Don’t be scared this time; it’s part of the detoxification process."
Chloe Reed nodded and hugged Fiona Linton to express her gratitude.
Fiona Linton said, "Do you want to go back to your own room? I think people need their own space."
"You can leave."
But as soon as she finished speaking, Walker Grant’s cold voice rang out.
"Ha!" Fiona Linton immediately sneered. "You’d better be more polite to me. I knew Chloe first, then I met you. Even though you’re Aunt Jensen’s son, Aunt Jensen is Aunt Jensen, and you are you. I can leave anytime."
"Oh," Walker Grant’s tone was very flat. "Don’t you want the three hundred million consultation fee?"
"How much!!"
Hearing him, Fiona Linton’s eyes shot wide open, and her voice suddenly jumped several octaves.
But Walker Grant didn’t repeat himself, a faint, unreadable smile playing on his thin lips.
Fiona Linton was in a daze. ’Three hundred million...’
’My mom and dad have a lot of money, too, but that’s their savings. How can the money I’ve earned with my own skills ever compare to three hundred million?’
’After this one job, I’ll be set for life!’
"Hehe, it’s getting late, so I’ll be leaving now. You two get some rest. Good night, good night."
She immediately changed her tune, finished speaking with a wide smile, waved at Chloe Reed, and turned right around and left.
Chloe Reed: "..."
’Could she change her tune any faster?’
’It gives you no room to even react.’
"Chloe, I want to take a shower."
And just then, Walker Grant spoke up. He faced her, the gauze for his eyes not yet wrapped on, and frowned. "I need to take a shower."
His tone was much more determined. Having not showered for several days, he couldn’t stand himself anymore.
’Besides, she’s sleeping here tonight. I have to be sparkling clean!’
Chloe Reed took out her phone and typed. A cold, electronic female voice sounded out, "I’ll go get Nathaniel Monroe to help you."
"No."
But Walker Grant refused with a very serious expression, "I’m not used to letting other people touch me."
