Our demon king is coming. (formerly Mayday A Series)

19: Ulysses, seek healing and gain doubt.

My name is Ulysses.

The Wang capital, Miladrid, has two forces: the Royal Palace and the Patriarchate.

There is a Church territory, the Vaberian State, centered on the ancient sanctuary Vabilophos on the southern continent, and there are a number of national institutes for the study of magic around it.

The Royal Palace has long been mandated to protect the Vabel nation.

Though the country, the premises are not that big.

It's like the Vatican City Country, as we call it on Earth.

Human beings in the Patriarchate are basically not involved in politics, but even the Royal Palace is a mindless being.

"Oh, my lord, I've come to see you again."

"Hi Bishop Delgusta. I'm a little tired today, so I came here first."

When I go to the Patriarchate, Bishop Delgusta always welcomes me.

He is the famous bishop of this church with a small square hat over his head (to hide the vulture).

I liked to read all the research materials that were delivered to this Vabel country.

Because there are detailed books of a long history here, as well as archaeological artifacts that support it. But I'm sure, apart from what I keep on the face, that the hidden record of history is on the other side of the deepest “black door” of this diocese.

That's right.

At the deepest end of the Patriarchate lies a “black door” that does not open.

I've been worried about the back and tried to peek, but I'm still afraid of somewhere and can't move on.

I think I'm terrified, and so much so that this Vabel nation is carrying a great mystery.

"Ulysses - Ulysses Ugh!!!

When I visit church, there's always a girl to see.

She's a luxurious young girl about two years younger than me.

He has olive hair cut off with about his shoulders and eyes with a large emerald colour, and his name is Perselis.

"Ulysses Ugh!!

"I know, I know."

She reads books in the library. I call her names hard in front of me.

That seems like a very cute, and also like my sister who was.

"Perselis, you're praying again."

"'Cause I heard Ulysses was here"

Bishop Delgusta seemed to have his head in Perselis, who would come praying back in this way, but seeing her lively expression seemed to somehow allow it.

She is a witch in the sanctuary.

Truth be told, even when we were rampant 2,000 years ago, there were “green witches” like her on the southern continent. That's why I feel so nostalgic for her. [M]

"How are you feeling, Perselis?"

"Ulysses is here, so good."

She always comes to see me from the other side of the heavy door when I come.

It would be because there are no other children of the same age in this Vabel country.

Naïve, she comes happy to drag a thin cloth of wobbly witch clothes.

"Can you stay here all day?

"No, we need to go back to the royal palace for tea time this afternoon. My uncle's calling you."

"Yeah - good - I'd love to have tea with Ulysses too"

"Ha ha... the tea party with my uncle is a little heavy for me."

Innocently inflating her cheeks, she doesn't feel as ugly as it is in the royal palace.

Really, a girl who has grown up in the clean air of the sanctuary.

Every time I see Perselis, I feel like she's the same person on the mound as us.

At least, in the thirteen years I've lived and been alive in this world, I can speak with ease.

Sure, the content of the conversation is no big deal, but I feel her voice contains special powers that are going to awe her somewhere.

"Bye, Ulysses. Now make sure you have tea with me. Because there's sugar sweets from Iris in Vabel."

"Oh, yeah. Fine, I promise."

Well, I've had sugar confectionery here from Bishop Delgusta before, but it tastes primitive and pale.

I'm sure people who are used to Royal Palace treats don't think that one tastes good, but I quite like it because I feel it resembles a rustic potty treat I ate somewhere in Japan.

Perselis smiled brilliantly like a large wheel of flowers and sat right next to the bench I was sitting in.

"What are you looking into today?

"Right...... I need to talk to my uncle."

"What the hell is that?

"About the war."

She shrugged her shoulder like she was having a little trouble, and I turned a difficult smile on her.

I'm sure this girl knows very little about the war.

I was born in a southern country without war, and this country is made of clan without war, because I am in a position like that.

"Why not? This country won't fight a war, will it? There's green protection."

"Sort of. But times change all the time."

I remember vaguely the role of the sanctuary as it was 2,000 years ago.

It will be a reason for the Kingdom of Ruskia not to have to wage war.

This country is protected by the “green blessing” of the Patriarchate…

Perselis was eventually taken by the bishop because he had a prayer.

I was crying, but I had no choice.

I exhale gently after she's gone and feel the quiet pulse in this sanctuary.

This pulse, the sacred air in the sanctuary, has not seemed to have changed for a long time.

Back then, there were no such fine dioceses or research institutes.

Nor was it protected as a patriarchal country.

There was just a significance, a symbol, as a “sanctuary” there.

And there was just a green witch who festivals it.

Still, there are many mysteries in this diocese.

What the hell is hidden on the other side of the black door?
