Chapter 1353 - 734: Preparation (2)
"What? An actual research project?" Amanda was dumbfounded when she heard the words, her expression still showing a bit of disbelief.
"Hahaha! But there’s some serious business to handle before that." Lance couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction. He picked her up and buried his head into the mountains...
Blessing, initiate!
The essence accumulated in the dungeon must be fiercely infused!
Amanda has been inside the dungeon, and the dense life force there is peculiar yet indeed boosted her power, enabling her to soar after breaking through to the Master. Now, with Lance’s blessing, she was forcefully propelled to the coveted championship, almost just one step away from becoming Legendary.

Never had such a wondrous beginning!
Her state began to turn wild, even eager to seize control.
But my sword is not dull!
Like a fierce tiger entering a mountain stream, like a mighty dragon returning to the ocean abyss.
Lance forcefully subdued the trembling mountains and blocked the overturning rivers.
Fight to the edge of the universe!
...
"Don’t sleep, you promised to help me with the research."
"No way, I’m exhausted now. We can talk next time."
Amanda pushed away Lance’s hand with a backhand, turned over and pretended to play dead.
Lance was speechless about this, this isn’t right... I’ve always freeloaded off others, why am I being freeloaded today?
Wasn’t it just teasing her a bit? So petty.
"Then I’ll get busy, you rest well."
Lance was left without a choice and decided to leave her be. He was here to deplete spiritual essence anyway, and since it was done, he casually pulled up his pants and walked out.
Hearing the noise, Amanda turned over to see Lance really leaving like that, her expression revealing some dissatisfaction.
This guy, can’t even say a few nice words to ask her...
If Lance were idle with nothing else, he wouldn’t mind tangling with her.
I could spar with you all day.
But unfortunately, there’s no such chance now.
Right now, others perceive the Lord as calm and composed, when in reality they can’t sense Lance’s impatience, he wishes to speed things up, faster and faster, to crash a lorry straight into the ancestor.
Lance found Beggby to inform him the promised matters.
"I’ve already arranged for people to start preparing the laboratory, although this requires some time, I can give you access to the materials I’ve gathered concerning Alchemy."
Where did Lance collect such materials?
Not other than from the ancestor.
The ancestor is truly a genius in full measure, not only proficient in various Flesh Sorcery, but also Herbology, Necromancy, Alchemy... Anyway, anything related to supernatural power he ceaselessly collects and learns.
Compared to those flesh studies filled with dangers and corruption, the Alchemy wasn’t as exaggerated, mostly all kinds of Alchemy-related knowledge collected back in those years.
Lance didn’t bother to go through those chaotic experimental records carefully, because he had no time to study them and barely understood them, just needed to ensure they were ordinary paper notes without cursed or other evil presences.
Even if there were, it wouldn’t matter, because Beggby’s resistance is frighteningly high; any sorcery curse probably needs to fight his other half first before invading his body.
He’s inherently a cursed-bound person, like how you can’t kill someone who’s already dead.
Lance planned to first have him organize this information, meanwhile wanting him to also document and decipher his family’s inherited Alchemy.
See what materials are needed, list them out for research, and while the lab is under construction, start collecting materials so once it’s finished, they can directly initiate works.
Simply put, Lance likes to prepare ahead, not wanting to face the awkwardness of having a lab completed without necessary materials.
It also serves to keep Beggby occupied during Lance’s absence, keeping him honest without wandering, till Lance can handle his troubles later.
For Beggby, he was stunned at the Lord’s swift action, having arranged everything promptly.
Though Beggby rarely interacts with other Transcendents or alchemists due to social anxiety, he could feel the preciousness of knowledge from the family records and his father’s painstaking collection.
And now the Lord granted access to the promised materials so quickly, this indeed exhilarated him.
Joining Hamlet really does lead to obtaining support.
It’s obvious, from Lance’s perspective those items won’t generate any benefits while idle, only through operation can profits be derived.
But all this doesn’t matter now, Lance left those materials along with a batch of paper and pens, even arranging meals to be delivered regularly every day, you focus on research, no need to step outside.
Though using surveillance might sound inappropriate, this way is more secure; Lance trusts Beggby, yet the beast within him is unpredictable.
After settling Beggby, Lance arrived at a very intriguing place.
Hamlet during times of Extreme Darkness surprisingly has unaffected sites, notably the asylum, a place eerie from the start.
Within where no matter how loud one screams, their cries are hard to transmit, where numerous death row prisoners are detained, once inside few ever emerge.
Due to a batch of doctors relocated from Totnes, this place has become more vibrant than ever.
Their role isn’t treatment but research, forging new medical technologies.
Lance supports them, telling them if they want their names etched in medical history to show their capabilities.
Given it’s managed in seclusion, Lance extensively grants them access to those experimental data and medical technologies.
Perhaps some among them felt discomfort initially, but after delving into those experiments they soon immersed themselves, kicking the so-called old medical practices into the trash and embracing the new medicine.
Especially with Hamlet’s vast experimental resources, this is their dream location, where in medical schools a body has countless users, when does it even reach them?
Here they can conduct dissections every other day, including live experiments, with human body mysteries seeming to unfold under their hands, no researcher can resist such temptation.
As for those "materials" used in their experimental studies, they couldn’t care less, as the roster already lists their committed crimes, regular prisoners aren’t sent here, only heinous death row inmates qualify.
Lance had to add another rule for the asylum, while experimentation and research are one thing, intentionally mistreating subjects is forbidden.
It’s not that Lance is advocating for human rights, it’s just such behavior might affect experimental data accuracy.
Medical research results are meant for curing and saving lives, and cannot afford mistakes.
Lance met these people to check out their experimental results, mostly still studying Paracelsus’s experiments, they weren’t so much researching as learning.
Lance didn’t mind them wasting resources, people teach and may not learn, experiences teach and work out immediately, if experimental data seems unreliable, recreate it, if flaws are found, there’s even a reward.
But he was dissatisfied with how they had become more disheveled than the test subjects themselves shortly after entry.
"I’ve said research can’t be rushed, who’s leading the overnight efforts? You really think you won’t drop dead?"
"Sir, sudden death though theoretically is largely due to cardiovascular diseases, induces dizziness from research data, heart irregularities..."
"Stop-stop-stop!" Lance hurriedly interrupts them, "How have you ended up experimenting on yourselves, these are merely casual records from doctors, what are you learning!"
Lance was truly speechless, once he has time he must reorganize the asylum, cannot let them keep on with such chaos.
Especially that stubborn Paracelsus!
Lance had to distribute one Panacea bottle each to them, simple adjustments to their anomalies, but this led to continued queries about this potion.
Lance was inevitably troubled, simply stated they didn’t have clearance to know, and instructed them to continue their research, barely escaping the asylum.
Have these folks researching lost their minds? Lunatics...
