"The Destiny Dao believes that if the Great Thousand Worlds are not managed, they will inevitably descend into utter chaos and disorder, culminating in a great extinction. These enormous numbers, to the Destiny Dao, are merely the distance from one wall of a room to another.

"Thus, it seeks to choose an ’eternal’ to maintain the Great Thousand Worlds. Simply put, it seeks to appoint a Heavenly Dao for the Great Thousand Worlds."

In Fan Wubing’s eternal eyes, the starry sky was reflected, not listening to the heavens but absorbing the silent sounds of all things,

"If so, why doesn’t the Destiny Dao itself become that ’eternal’?"

Si Jiuyou said, "I want to know that too, so I left you. I didn’t want you to become a casualty of this selection. After ascending, I walked the Path of Eternity for I don’t know how long before finally seeing the Everlasting Mountain. Countless people like me have traversed the Path of Eternity in pilgrimage to the Everlasting Mountain, aiming to achieve the ultimate eternity. But they all failed."

She closed her eyes, seemingly unwilling to recall that time,

"And I succeeded."

"You became eternal?"

"No. I am not destined to be eternal, nor do I bear the fate of becoming eternal. I merely succeeded in touching the Destiny Dao, successfully understanding our respective destinies."

"What is it?" Fan Wubing’s heart leapt to his throat. He had no idea how to process this revelation.

Si Jiuyou’s eyes lowered,

"At first, I was the true destined entity of the Eternal Immortal Continent. You bore this destiny for me. However, you only bore the fate meant for a destined entity, without receiving the fate’s care and gifts. In other words, you shouldered the suffering but did not receive the deserved happiness."

"What’s going on?" Fan Wubing was somewhat perplexed.

Si Jiuyou said,

"This is a miraculous ’error’ among countless Small Thousand Worlds. I once stood above time, glimpsing ten thousand Small Thousand Worlds, and could not find another instance. The entanglement of destiny between you and me occurs only once in the vast Great Thousand Worlds."

She appeared a bit sorrowful, bowing her head and speaking softly,

"The suffering you endured...was all caused by me. Be it the death of your loved ones or the various unfathomable trials on your path of cultivation, all are because of me. Therefore..."

Fan Wubing laughed,

"So, you want redemption."

Si Jiuyou nodded.

Fan Wubing was somewhat exasperated,

"That’s why I said you’re silly."

"No calling your senior sister silly!" Si Jiuyou said seriously, "I am your senior sister. You should respect me."

"Alright, alright," Fan Wubing said, "Isn’t the main culprit the grand selection led by the Destiny Dao? Instead of saying it was you who caused my suffering, it would be better to say that our encounter, beyond fate, is a miracle even the Destiny Dao cannot control."

In Si Jiuyou’s eyes, extraordinary light shone,

"Is it really that amazing?"
