Chapter 707:Kill
The surrounding nobles immediately widened their eyes.
Before anyone could react...
SHHHHHHH!
The countless blades of light shot forward at tremendous speed, tearing through the air as they chased after the fleeing assassin like streaks of lightning.
Every pair of eyes instinctively followed the terrifying rain of light rushing across the battlefield.
The countless blades of light tore through the air with terrifying speed.
SHHHHHHH!
The fleeing assassin desperately pushed himself forward. He poured every bit of strength into escaping and even changed directions several times in an attempt to avoid the incoming attacks. However, the blades pursued him relentlessly as though they had locked onto their target.
The other two made a run in the opposite direction but more blades of light shot out from Ethan aiming for them.
The first blade arrived in an instant.
A brilliant flash streaked past his head.
Before he could react, the second blade struck from another direction.
Then came a third, followed by a fourth and a fifth aiming at others.
The glowing swords crossed through the air with frightening precision. One was pierced through his shoulder, another was cut across his throat while another sliced through his chest, while several more continued striking without pause. The rain of light completely swallowed him.
Each blade carried enough force to tear through flesh and armor before continuing onward, leaving shining trails across the battlefield.
The attacks happened so quickly that the surrounding spectators could barely follow them with their eyes.
When the final blade disappeared into the distance...
Silence fell over the battlefield.
The assassins body could no longer remain standing. It broke apart and collapsed onto the scorched earth while deep sword marks crisscrossed the ground around him. Dust slowly drifted through the air as the last traces of light faded away.
The entire battlefield became deathly quiet.
The surrounding nobles, commanders, and soldiers remained rooted where they stood. Many stared blankly at the remains before them while others looked completely stunned, as though their minds had stopped working. Even the Saint Realm experts wore grim expressions after witnessing the attack.
After several long moments, everyone’s gaze slowly shifted from the fallen assassin toward Ethan.
He quietly stood there with his greatsword resting in his hand.
Then a faint smile slowly appeared on his face.
It was a calm smile.
Yet it felt strangely unsettling.
"Sorry."
His quiet voice clearly reached everyone’s ears.
"But I am an upfront gentleman."
"I have a habit of solving my grievances directly."
The smile on his face sent a chill through the entire crowd.
Several nobles instinctively tightened their grip on their weapons while others unconsciously stepped backward. The commanders who had been speaking confidently only moments earlier now remained completely silent. The battlefield had become so quiet that the crackling flames around the camp could be heard.
Duke Alaric swallowed hard as cold sweat slowly rolled down the side of his face.
Inside his heart, he could not help but curse.
’Fuck...’
’If I had known this beforehand, I would never have agreed to such a proposal.’
His eyes remained fixed on Ethan while countless thoughts raced through his mind.
’Such a powerful warrior...’
’And they actually wanted to make an enemy out of him.’
’This short outburst alone was enough to frighten an entire battlefield.’
’God knows how many things this man is still hiding.’
The more he thought about it, the heavier his heart became.
After calming himself, Duke Alaric slowly stepped forward. He respectfully lowered his head before speaking.
"Sir Ethan."
"Please follow me."
"I will lead you to a safe house."
Ethan quietly looked at him for a brief moment.
The crimson flames surrounding his body gradually faded while the overwhelming pressure covering the battlefield slowly disappeared. The suffocating feeling lingering in everyone’s hearts finally eased, and many secretly let out the breath they had been holding.
Ethan gave a slight nod.
"Alright."
Before leaving, he slowly swept his gaze across the battlefield one last time. His calm eyes passed over every noble, commander, and Saint Realm expert standing before him.
The moment their eyes met his, many immediately looked away while others instinctively retreated a few steps without realizing it. The fear that had settled inside their hearts remained clearly visible on their faces.
Without saying another word, Ethan calmly followed behind Duke Alaric.
The two figures slowly walked away from the ruined battlefield while the burning camp remained wrapped in complete silence.
As Ethan and Duke Alaric gradually disappeared into the distance, the battlefield remained unusually quiet.
The burning tents continued crackling while wounded soldiers were carried away by medics. Broken weapons, shattered carts, and deep craters covered the once orderly camp. Everyone slowly looked at one another, but nobody knew what to say after witnessing everything that had just happened.
After several moments, the remaining commanders and nobles gathered around Duke Valen and the other higher-ranking leaders.
One of the generals broke the silence.
"What do we do now?"
He looked toward the direction Ethan had left before speaking again.
"Are we really going to let him leave like this?"
Another commander’s expression became serious.
"If we let Marquise Ethan go now, he might become a huge problem later."
"He already knows too much.He is also strong enough to threaten us."
Several nobles nodded in agreement.
"We still have enough people."
"If we gather everyone together, we might still be able to finish him."
Another commander hesitated before speaking.
"But if we miss this opportunity, dealing with him later could become even more difficult."
The discussion quickly became heated.
Some wanted to continue chasing Ethan while others remained silent, carefully weighing the consequences.
Duke Valen slowly looked around at everyone before letting out a long sigh.
His expression was unusually tired.
"Just what can we do now?"
He rubbed his forehead while looking toward the distant figures of Ethan and Duke Alaric.
"If we fight now, we will directly fall out with Eldoria."
He slowly shook his head.
"And once that happens, things might become really messy out there."
Another high-ranking noble nodded with a grim face.
"The Supreme Token changes everything."
"That is no longer just Ethan’s problem."
"It now involves Queen Ophelia herself."
One commander clenched his fists in frustration.
"So are we just supposed to swallow this?"
Another elder slowly answered,
"We may not like it, but we have little choice."
"If we attack him now, Eldoria will see it as an attack on their authority."
A heavy silence settled over the group once again.
Everyone understood what those words meant.
Starting a war with Ethan was one thing.
Starting a conflict with the Kingdom of Eldoria was something entirely different.
Duke Valen slowly looked toward the burning battlefield before speaking in a low voice.
"For now..."
"We let him go."
His expression remained dark.
"But this matter is far from over."
The surrounding nobles quietly nodded.
Although nobody was satisfied with the decision, they all understood that forcing another battle at this moment could drag an entire kingdom into the conflict. With that thought in mind, they slowly turned their attention toward treating the wounded and restoring order throughout the devastated camp.
